SEGA-Sammy has posted a net income of ¥36,821 million (about $451 million), that’s 117.3% increased compared to last year. So what branch of SEGA made the most money? Not a big surprise. Pachinco/Pachislots division ranked in ¥54,666 million(about $670 million) operating income.
Coming in at a hot second was Amusement Machine Sales, which had a operating income of ¥8,458 million (about $103 million). Guess who isn’t losing money and didn’t come dead last? Consumer Business (SEGA you know and love, they make those games you play). They brought in an operating income of ¥2,811 million(about $34 million). Congrats SEGA!
Major selling titles for Q3:
- Sonic Colors (Wii/DS) 1,850,000
- VANQUISH (360/PS3) 820,000
- Football Manager 2011 (PC/PSP) 690,000
SEGA has shipped 13.63 million software units worldwide. If we break them down its 5.77 million in United States, 5.95 million in Europe, and 1.9 million in Japan.
So who came in ‘last’ place? Amusement Center Operations division, which profited ¥817 million(about $10 million) of operating income. So basically every section of SEGA profited this quarter. Things are looking sexy for SEGA.

Congrats SEGA! (plays the Segagaga march theme in celebration)
Wow, I'm surprised how well Vanquish did. Are these shipped or sold numbers? Well, either way, that's a lot better than I thought it would do.
Sonic Colors proves that a quality Sonic game can sell very well.
Had they ported some Arcade titles the consumer business would've fared better.
Game revenues ARE down (though that's because we don't have Mario and Sonic this year) but the games sector is still profiting, thankfully.
Amazing news both because ALL divisions of Sega are profiting and because VANQUISH actually sold a ton more then I thought.
Be it sales to retail or not this COULD mean we see a sequal, which would be awesome because the game fucking rocks.
