First Wii/3DS Screens of Mario & Sonic London Olympics!

Usually screens of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games wouldn’t excite me too much. But color me surprised when I caught a glimpse of the first screens to be released and I got… a little excited! That was probably due to spotting one of my favorite 3D Sonic stages, Windy Valley of Sonic Adventure, returning as the location of a Dream Event. On the Mario side of things we have a 2D remake of Yoshi’s Story, which makes me hopeful that we’ll see some 2D Sonic stages return.

After the break, check out more screens and a link to an early preview of the games.

The site Computer and Video Games has a preview written up, revealing how the games play and giving a few new details. Good news: SEGA is amping up the Dream Events. Bad news: no MotionPlus support. Check out the preview here.

I didn't care for this game at all, but seeing windy valley is getting me nostalgic as FUU*******

  2. Here's hoping Dream Events take up like 75% of the game 😛

Seriously, if the game was ALL Dream Events, it would be awesome. Even if the gameplay is passable, and not amazing, the many returns to classic stages would be a lot of fun. I'd take Windy Valley over generic patch of grass with Big Ben in the background.

Winy Valley … the most beautiful sonic stage ever.

    lol winy

  5. Sonic and Mario head to winey valley for some pinot grigio!

The Yoshi Story stuff made me cringe, that is literally the last thing I wanted.

But I remember reading somewhere that the Dream Events are going to take up a lot more of the game this time. I hope they do more than just Dreamcast and up stuff for Sonic again. Also, screw Vector, I want to play as Big!

If nothing else, this series actually does a really good job of blending Mario and Sonic stuff together. It is a really hard thing to do if you think about it.

LOL @ Mario wrestling down Sonic. Even when published by Sega, Mario's kicking Sonic's butt. (Just kidding folks. Don't kill me. XD)

If it wasn't for that bottom screen, you couldn't tell the difference between 3DS graphics and Wii graphics.

Is that a race or are they power walking.

I'll probably still play this at some point, but no MotionPlus support makes me a sad panda.
