My Life with SEGA returns this week with a review of the acclaimed SEGA Saturn game, Panzer Dragoon. Probably one of my favorite franchises in SEGA’s huge catalog of unique IPs, this week you get to see A.J. give you his take on the game.

Nice review. I never played the originals, but the XBOX release is one of my favorites. What an awesome game.

  2. I know what you mean. I bought a Dreamcast because it only made sense that the next Panzer Dragoon would come out for Dreamcast. Later I bought an XBOX for Orta. The Dreamcast will never be as good as the Saturn to me, it was a let-down.

Man this was one hell of an amazing video AJ. You really touched me with some parts. I like how you just let the video and sound speak for itself sometimes. Panzer dragoon is such an amazing piece of art. Wish SEGA just brought more games like that. Day one, whenever.

It really is one of the most special franchises in video games.

Saga’s narrative is still one of the most beautifully structured and well dramatized in games, not to mention the perfect pitched and toned voice work that sold the characters so well. The somewhat minimalistic game design (for an RPG, at least) only adds to the desperate feel of the world. It’s a shame so few people got to play it. It’s a true masterpiece.

See, you don’t need fancy technology and sky high budgets to tell fantastic stories. Only talent and original thought.
