EA employee says Nintendo should “done a Sega” and went 3rd party

WiiuDreamcast

Console wars, they never change. EA has announced that their EA Sports titles won’t be coming to Wii U and that they don’t have any games in development for the system. Does this remind anyone of the Dreamcast situation?

“Nintendo are still operating like it’s 1990.They should have “done a Sega” and offered Mario/Zelda as PS4/Durango exclusives.

If that wasn’t enough, EA’s  Bob Summerwill Senior SE and Architect of EA Sports, has decided to take to twitter to insult the console by stating that it’s a crap console and that Nintendo should have just went 3rd party (like SEGA did). But it seems that EA probably told him to stop what he was doing, since he has deleted the tweets. But of course, the internet caught on fast.

The SEGA Five: Reasons Why Sonic Being Nintendo Exclusive is a Good Thing

weeklyfive
I think everyone on the internet could name a few reasons why they don’t want their beloved Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to be exclusive to Nintendo platforms. First of all, the Wii U isn’t a power house. It is stated that it has the same capabilities as the Xbox 360/Playstation 3. But it seems that SEGA has inked a deal to have the next three Sonic the Hedgehog games exclusive to Nintendo platforms. So why isn’t this a bad thing?

SEGA testing their Transformers arcade game in China

TFG_Poster

Wait, SEGA has the license to make Transformers arcade games? That is new to me. SEGA’s Chinese studios will be creating this title, they have made other arcade titles like SEGA Golden Gun and K.O. Drive. Now the team is ready to start testing their next arcade title, Transformers: Human Alliance. Seeing as how Transformers is now a huge brand again, with those Micheal Bay movies, I would not be shocked if they do bring over this arcade title later in the year (and neither is the guys over at Arcade  Heroes).

Not too much information is available about the game yet, but it seems to be a shooting game where humans fight along with autobots to save planet earth. Could this be a light-gun game? Third person shooter? I guess we will see when footage starts hitting the internet.

Round Table: Which ex-SEGA developers do you miss the most?

exsegaroundtable
Most people follow around sport teams and their players, here at SEGAbits we follow SEGA studios and developers. There have been tons of employees and developers that SEGA have fired or left throughout its long history, as is expected with every big publisher. But sometimes there is that developer that was behind one of your favorite games, when he leaves the company it really tugs at the heart strings. So in this week’s round table we will be discussing which ex-SEGA developers we miss the most!

Banjo- Kazooie composer creating the soundtrack for Castle of Illusion HD

Castleofbanjo

SEGA and Disney are teaming up to bring Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse HD to all major platforms, the remake will even have a new soundtrack for what it seems. They are teaming up with Grant Kirkhope who is best known for his soundtrack in Rare games like Bajo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Golden Eye. Mr. Kirkhope tweeted the following a few days ago.

‘Should hopefully finish my final piece for “Castle of Illusion HD starring Mickey Mouse” tonight!!!’ – Via Grant Kirkhope’s twitter.

So new graphics, new box art and new soundtrack? Hows that for a remake?

Aliens: Colonial Marines co-developer TimeGate studios files for bankruptcy

Timegate
TimeGates Studios, who where previously known for their Section 8 games and now for co-developing the controversial Aliens: Colonial Marines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Texas Southern Bankruptcy court yesterday.

The guys over at Polygon obtained the court papers, which stated that the developer is in debt to more than 50 creditors and owed total liabilities ranging from $10-$50 million dollars. Their top creditors include Epic Games (Unreal Engine), Agora Games (online game service), and DJ2 Entertainment. Funny enough, a local pizza shop was listed in the documents, which TimeGate owes $34.80. Wow, are these developers all in the 7th grade that they can’t pay a $35 dollar bill?

I guess life isn’t good for TimeGates Studios and the recent class action lawsuit isn’t going to help them. Weird seeing them lose all this money and still announce a game last month.

NeoGAF user creates a fantastic Dreamcast themed 3DS

3DSDreamcast

Hey, we all here love SEGA and we know that we won’t get another console. NeoGAF user A 3 Legged Goat , a huge Dreamcast fan, who designed a concept art above. The idea is to make his 3DS look more sexy, Dreamcast sexy.  Above and below are his photoshop renders.

If SEGA and Nintendo teamed up to release a limited edition Dreamcast design, they would have all my monies.

Round Table: Who would you want to see reboot Shining Force franchise?

Shining

Shining Force franchise was one of my favorites back in the day when Camelot Software was in charge of it in the 90’s, now-a-days SEGA has given other developers chances to reboot the franchise and the games have been received poorly by critics (and fans). Regardless of this, I still think that Shining Force franchise has the chance to comeback and do pretty well. This week on the round table we will discuss which developers should reboot Shining Force and release a classic game that this franchise deserves!
