Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold coming to PS3 in 2014

Previously only announced for arcades, Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold has officially been announced for PS3 today. While arcades will be getting the game on November 28th, the PS3 version will be released in the summer of 2014 in Japan.

Along with this announcement a new trailer showing new gameplay and cutscenes was also released, with a tease for a new character at the end. Due to the character being a spoiler for the endgame of Persona 4, you’ll have to see the trailer for yourself to see who he is. (Of course, this does mean you’ll probably see the spoiler in the comments section below)

Check out SEGA’s Plants vs. Zombies The Last Stand arcade cabinet

SEGA Amusements is teasing new items that will be at their IAAPA 13 show in a few days. One of their machines that they are going to promote is this Plants vs. Zombies The Last Stand arcade machine. This is the first time we have seen the cabinet and its pretty flashy.

First thing you will notice is that this isn’t a port of the mobile game for arcades, it looks like a light gun version of the game. So is this basically House of the Dead: Plants vs. Zombies? Who knows. But it would be awesome to have some House of the Dead cross overs in here. What are your thoughts?

Review: The Typing of the Dead Overkill

totdO-003

Droppin’ F-bombs like a mother…

The original The Typing of the Dead was a misunderstood sleeper hit when it came out for the Dreamcast. The keyboard accessory may have been useful in the eyes of consumers for games like Quake III Arena, but it didn’t immediately become apparent that a typing game spin-off would make for an amazing, fast paced alternative. The original game appeared in Japanese arcades prior, and when it arrived on PC shortly after it had done well enough to spawn several more sequels and updates on the platform, in Japan. Outside of Japan it would be seen as an outdated arcade game that would be shunned, yet had become the cult hit which emitted an outcry of diehard fans in their never ending list of seemingly implausible demands for a new entry in the series. Years later, after SEGA and Headstrong’s release of The House of the Dead: Overkill on the Wii, it had seen an update with The House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut on Playstation 3 and on the week of Halloween has seen an update on Steam for PC as part of a semi two game bundle, literally out of the blue with no fanfare and nearly cancelled by now defunct Blitz Games. Despite these hurdles, it was still the ideal platform to put out this modern update to the franchise that encompasses its cheesiness and over the top absurdity to much higher levels, probably higher than people would expect or possibly want.

Art of SEGA: House of the Dead III

ArtofSEGAhotd3

House of the Dead isn’t exactly the most beautiful game series, but it still required a substantial amount of concept art in order to determine the design of the protagonists, enemies, and game play scenarios. Below is a load of concept art, provided by our sister site Website of the Dead. As usual, we won’t be posting everything they have, so be sure to check out their database here!
Also, remember to submit something to our art contest!

Transformers: Human Alliance gameplay footage hits the net

SEGA’s Ringedge 2 licensed arcade game, Transformers: Human Alliance, has finally gotten some gameplay footage posted online. In this video you will see gameplay from the England stage, which was part of the Facebook vote SEGA held.  Seems that the cheesy voice acting that SEGA light gun shooters are known for has returned in full force in this title. You will take a role of a human, helping Autobots fight against attacking Decepticons.

Director for the title is Mr. Oga-Shi, who directed such light gun titles like Gunblade, Lost World and Let’s Go Jungle/Island franchise.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax first full length trailer hits the net

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is a new 2D arcade fighting game that will feature characters for Dengeki’s wide ranging light novel IPs. So far the confirmed characters include:

  • Asuna (Sword Art Online)
  • Shana (Shakugan no Shana)
  • Kirino (Oreimo)
  • Shizuo (Durarara!!)
  • Kuroyukihime (Accel World)
  • Mikoto (A Certain Magical Index)

Even though right now they are only talking about the ‘arcade’ version, they already confirmed there will be a console version of the game shown off at a later date. They also teased about the possibility of including SEGA IPs, specifically games like Valkyria Chronicles.

SEGA letting you choose the next Transformers: Human Alliance trailer

segatransformvidfb

If you didn’t know, SEGA is teasing their upcoming light-gun licensed game titled Transformers: Human Alliance. We have covered it before and since I really like SEGA’s (good) license arcade titles (Daytona USA, Die Hard Arcade and the lot). This time SEGA is letting users vote on what ‘trailer’ they want to see next. Each trailer is based on a area in the game, these two areas are England (which you have to like their Facebook post to vote on) and the other is Africa (which you have to share the post to like it.)

“20,000 likes! Thanks everyone! To celebrate we are going to give you a chance to see some of Transformers Human Alliance in action for the first time! LIKE to see the England stage or SHARE to see the Africa stage! Which ever is highest we will share a video of that stage next week!”

Its not surprising that England stage is winning, Facebook users are more inclined to like a post than to share it on their wall. If you want to cast your vote, check out SEGA Amusement’s Facebook page here.

Treasure says there is ‘good news’ coming regarding Ikaruga

9914

The SEGA NAOMI cult classic shoot ’em up Ikaruga might have some ‘good’ news incoming, that is according to Treasure’s twitter account.

Of course, fans are raving and hoping that this will mean a sequel to the original (which was a spiritual successor to Radiant Silvergun). I also hope for a sequel, the game has had enough ports already (appearing on Dreamcast, Gamecube, XBLA, and Android mobile devices). So, are you guys ready to return to another bullet hell adventure?

UDON to Release Art Book for Japan-Only Border Break Series in the States

bits_borderBreak

Ever heard of Border Break? If you’ve kept up with SEGA’s arcade games, you’ll know its a multiplayer class based shooter centered around mechas and online play. We may not be seeing a release of the game outside of Japan anytime soon, but thats not stopping UDON Entertainment which has announced during San Diego Comic Con on Friday that they’re releasing an artbook stateside based on the entire series as part of their recently acquired licenses including Ys, Devil May Cry, and more. The last time UDON brought over an artbook for a Japan-only SEGA title was for Valkyria Chronicles 3, which had already been established outside of Japan.

Crazy Taxi is out now on Android – Make that craaaaazy money!

CrazyAndroidTaxi
I know that SEGA doesn’t really promote these mobile releases, all they pretty much do is send a tweet or a blog post telling you that the title is out. But they really missed the mark with the Crazy Taxi port for Android, since they didn’t even tell anyone it was coming today. Well, don’t worry, we got you. Crazy Taxi is now on Android.

This port is a lot like the iOS version with Arcade Mode and Original Mode playable and music by Bad Religion and The Offspring. You can purchase your copy today for $4.99.
