Yakuza: Dead Souls pre-order trailer is all about the American spirit

Who said that the Japanese can’t appreciate bad taste in fashion and being a patriot? Can’t love this country built on freedom? *waves American flag*

In all seriousness, above is the pre-order trailer for Yakuza: Dead Souls. Which happens to be out March 13th, did you know that? I didn’t. Been too busy playing Binary Domain to notice. Pre-order DLC is exclusive to GameStop stores.

DLC of Christmas Past: A Tree in Station Square

If you caught our latest podcast, you may have heard the moment when AAUK said that he begged for the special Christmas DLC to be included in the XBLA/PSN rerelease of Sonic Adventure. Sadly, it was not, so the only way to experience an early example of DLC is to boot up your Dreamcast with a copy of Sonic Adventure and the Christmas data on your VMU.

The file was originally available for download from December 17th to the 28th in 1999, and when players entered Station Square they were greeted by two Christmas trees complete with Sonic and Chao decorations. If you touched the tree, the music would change to the acapella version of “Dreams Dreams” from Christmas NiGHTS. The best place to get the VMU file and more is at Blue Swirl, where you can burn an application allowing you to use hundreds of VMU files. Enjoy!

Renegade Ops vehicle pack coming to PSN next week

If you bought Renegade Ops back in September, as part of Sony’s PLAY Program, you should be getting messages on your PSN about the upcoming Vehicle Pack add-on.

I assume this vehicle pack will later be released on Xbox Live and for the rest of the PSN users that didn’t buy Renegade Ops the first week it was out. But as of right now, no news.

GameStop Sonic Generations Pre-Order Bonuses Revealed!

So, you say you’re pumped for Sonic Generations, but think it’s too far off for any real reason to place a pre-order this instant? Think again! United States gaming store GameStop is offering digital content for those who pre-order Sonic Generations! You can see what they’re offering for yourself right here. XBOX 360 owners who pre-order will receive a DLC mini-game pinball stage based on Sonic 2’s Casino Night Zone. Think of it as being like Sonic Adventure’s pinball stage. Also included is a Super Sonic avatar costume, basically confirming Super Sonic in Generations, and an exclusive theme for your 360’s menu. PlayStation 3 owners also receive the Casino Night Zone pinball stage and a theme for their PS3 menu.

Still no word on a birthday pack or special packaging, but we’ll keep you posted. In other news, the full stage and boss list as well as a load of other info on the game has leaked due to fans digging through the recently released demo assets. I’ll abstain from mentioning any of the leaked content, as SEGA has yet to officially reveal it, but it’s out there on the Internet.

Yakuza of the End DLC pack has American themed Kazuma

Yakuza of the end is getting Patriotic DLC. Look at Kazuma Kiryu sport that sexy American flag as a shirt. America, fuck yeah. That is not all though, this fourth free pack will also feature a pirate themed Majima and even a Rambo Ryuji Goda.

Check out the pictures below. Come on SEGA America, how can you not port this game over now?

SEGA has announced the first DLC for Total War: Shogun 2. The first piece is called the “The Ikko Ikki Clan pack” and it unlocks a Buddhist rebel faction called Ikko Ikki clan for single and multiplayer.

This will add a new agent type and eight unit variants. That is not all there are also ten new retainers, new steam achievements, original skill-tree for Ikko Ikki General, new historical battle, new avatar armor sets, more to unlock.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 – New DLC Trailer

From what I can gather this trailer highlights multiple DLC releases including six new ‘Hard EX’ missions which will release for 200 Yen ($2.40) each and two additional ‘Story Episodes’ at 600 Yen ($7.30) each.
The Story Episodes will allow you to play as fan favorite characters such as Alicia, Wekin, Isara and Edy as well as some new weaponry.

Meanwhile here we are in the West still waiting for the vanilla game, hurry up Sega!

First piece of Yakuza 4 DLC up for grabs today

Well, this is an improvement over Yakuza 3’s DLC. You get this pack for free. It raises the limits of your character’s strength and stamina, and also picks up your relationship with Haruka to a higher point. Oh, and two new karaoke songs.

There are also four new themes (not so free, except to PS+ users), each highlighting a different character of the game. They include Kazuma, Akiyama, Tanimura and Saejima. For normal PSN members, these will run you $2.99 each (£1.99, €2.49).

Pictured below is Akiyama’s theme. The rest of them are pictured at the SEGA Europe’s Blog, linked below.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 DLC gets first episode details

Valkyria Chronicles 2 came out and its DLC was only extra missions. Not bad, but users missed the DLC experience they had with Valkyria Chronicles (PS3). Thankfully for you, Valkyria Chronicles 3 will bring back the ‘episode’ format.

Episode one will be called “The Restless,” which fallows Nameless leader Kurt and Imca. The episode will feature missions, cutscenes and awkward interactions between both characters. Even has a new sword to unlock. New episodes will be priced at 600 yen ($7), the first one (The Restless) coming out February 22nd.

SEGA still plans on selling missions like they did in Valkyria Chronicles 2. The first will be Disciplinary Mission: Block Their Way. This one has players stopping an army using anti-tank weapons, with a reward of a boost evasion blue ribbon if you succeed. Missions cost 200 yen ($2.40).

Yakuza 4: US gets no special edition, DLC with regular version

In Europe, if you want that DLC, you will have to opt into buying the limited edition of the game. In America, we don’t have the choice of a limited edition, so if you buy a new version of Yakuza 4, you will get a one-time DLC code to use. You will get:

  • Bonus costumes for Kazuma, Akiyama, Taiga, Tanimura, and Haruka
  • Survival Mode
  • Underground car park racing
  • The much-loved underground Fighting Arena

If you pre-order the game via Gamestop you’ll receive a free dynamic Hostess theme. Not bad at all.

Valkyria Chronicles II DLC trailer is pretty nifty

Trailers, not just a moving house, but moving pictures  of awesomeness. Check out the trailer above, showing off some of the DLC you will be able to purchase on the PSN store tomorrow. The pack will cost you only $4.99, comes with 22 missions.

In Japan, they paid a dollar per mission. So yeah, purchase it and thank SEGA for bundling them all together.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 – All Unlock Codes!

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a well supported game! Not only did the DLC content just release. With 22 new missions for just $4.99 but all of the free unlock codes have been revealed!

Most of the codes are for ‘stickers’ which you attach to your tank. The stickers give your tank different effects and attributes. Many of which feature characters and logos from other Sega series such as Skies of Arcadia, Yakuza, Phantasy Star and Sonic. Something we are always happy to see.

Some other codes however unlock new playable characters!

Hit the jump to see all of the codes!

Valkyria Chronicles 2 DLC hits PSN today

We here in the west will get our first paid DLC for Valkyria Chronicles 2. What a DLC it is, 22 missions bundled up for an awesome $4.99. Seems that the Japanese store charges a dollar per mission, so the bundle is definitely worth it.

The DLC should be hitting the PSN store later in the afternoon. Keep your credit card handy, also if you haven’t picked up the game, you should! Review should be up later today or early tomorrow.

Yakuza 3 DLC coming to PSN for a fee

Amazon has posted a list of downloadable PSN items coming this Tuesday. In that list, there was Yakuza 3 “Challenge Pack.” This is the DLC that was given away if you pre-ordered the game.

“This bonus Challenge Pack will allow you to enjoy 2-player mini games, competing against your friends at Pool, Bowling, Darts and Golf. You will also be able to customize the principle characters with four alternative costumes for Kazuma, Haruka and Rikiya. (A Completed game save file required to access some of this content.)

Only issue? Its not free, they will be charging $3.99 for it. All this content was free for Japan, not so much (unless you pre-ordered) for us in the West. Feels good man.
