Sonic the Hedgehog Movie gets its own Build-a-Bear Plush

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is finally releasing in less than a day, so its about that time we see more merchandise being released. Right now Build-a-Bear has listed the option of making a Sonic the Movie plush of our blue boy. You can see both listed on the North American and European websites. The prices range from $29 to $53 bucks, depending on which version you get (if he has shoes or a ring).

Like everyone else, its nice to see merchandise after they redesigned the character, I couldn’t even imagine what this poor Build-a-Bear would have looked like if they used the nightmare fuel Ken Penders design.

Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog Movie trailer reveals “Baby Sonic”

For a while it’s been rumored that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie would have a baby version of Sonic, but until now it was unofficially revealed from leaked merchandising. Now we have official confirmation that this younger version of Sonic is indeed real, including a new trailer and artwork briefly highlighting the tiny hedgehog. According to the official website page, it describes Baby Sonic as innocent and full of energy, and we will get to see Sonic’s unexplored past. Likely he will appear in the movie either from a flashback or as part of an overall origin story, maybe explaining how Sonic gained his sound breaking speed in the first place.

In addition, movie goers in Japan will receive a bonus Baby Sonic keychain for those that pre-order tickets early.

New Sonic the Hedgehog Movie trailer releases, shows off the new Sonic redesign

A new trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been released. After the previous trailer became controversial for the really uncanny depiction of the titular speedy urchin, this new trailer notably highlights the promised new redesign that is more faithful to the original source material. Aside from that, the trailer also highlights other small tidbits within the movie, including teasing the classic Green Hill Zone at the beginning, along with different gags revolving around Sonic’s lightning fast speed.

Currently the Sonic the Hedgehog movie is slated for a release date of February 14th in most regions, and on March 27th in Japan.

Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie to get character design change after internet backlash

Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler just tweeted out that he has heard the criticism and that you cant expect a change in Sonic’s character design.

No idea how much of a change we will be seeing, considering that the movie is set to release this upcoming November. Also the fact that this terrible design made it this far into production shows you how clueless Hollywood is sometimes. I guess we will be keeping you posted on all things Sonic Movie news…

Dutch composer Junkie XL to score Sonic the Hedgehog movie

It looks like the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie by Paramount Pictures has landed a pretty big composer, introducing Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL who has composed music on films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v. Superman, Deadpool, Alita: Battle Angel, and a ton more. He confirmed that he was composing on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie in a recent interview with Film Music Magazine. Pretty funny because Junkie XL actually turned down composing Deadpool 2 because director Tim Miller left, if you ddidn’t know Tim Miller is a producer for the Sonic the Hedgehog film and one of the main people behind the project.

I think its crazy that the film is less than a year away and they barely revealed who is working on the soundtrack. We still haven’t seen what the new Sonic the Hedgehog design is going to look like! Its going to be very interesting few months as they continue to promote this movie. So far its not looking great but who knows, in a few months we might be super excited to see the film. Maybe. What are your thoughts on Junkie XL composing the soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog (the movie)?

Ben Schwartz to voice Sonic in upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog Paramount movie

It seems that Roger Craig Smith will not be voicing the blue blur in the upcoming Paramount Pictures movie, Variety has reported that the studio has hired Ben Schwartz. The biggest role I recall Ben in has been he’s role in Parks and Recreation. But he has also done some really good voice over work, recently landing the role of Dewey in the DuckTales animated show and plays Leo in the upcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show.

Sonic the Hedgehog movie is set to debut in November 15, 2019. What are your thoughts on Paramount Pictures changing up the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog voice cast for new actors? Do you think Ben Schwartz can deliver a good performance as Sonic the Hedgehog?

Jim Carrey confirms that his portrayal of Dr. Eggman will be live action

Jim Carrey is making the rounds online doing interviews at the recent Television Critics Associations event, that means that interviewers got to ask a variety of question to do write ups. You might noticed the increase in Jim Carrey articles this morning ranging from his opinion on Trump to recent big budget comedy films. The people over at Deadline decided to ask Jim Carrey about his upcoming Doctor Eggman portrayal in the upcoming Paramount Pictures Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

So what new information did we get? All we got was Jim Carrey admitting “It will be live-action” when talking about the character. This seems to be a big change considering this will be the first time that Eggman will get a live action portrayal and the first time since 2005* (Actually 2003, thanks for the correction Mike) that Mike Pollock won’t be voicing the iconic villain. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie and the fact that Dr. Eggman will be live-action? Also, why do mainstream media journalist continue to use Dr. Robotnik?

New Sonic the Hedgehog movie details revealed – filming location, possible title and logo

Via Twitter user KyroDRX and the Sonic Stadium comes some new details about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie from Paramount. A friend of KyroDRX received a notice for an upcoming filming on their streets of the movie. The scene will take place in a residential area and will feature a car pulling up to a house, scenes will then take place inside the house. The scenes will be taking place during the day and night, so it is possible that this is a home of a main character and will be featured at various points throughout the movie.

There will be no action or special effects scenes films, only atmospheric smoke will be used. The home address given is a lovely little home just off of an inlet from the Pacific Ocean and the area has a very “Californian” vibe. You can see the home after the break.

Also worth noting is that the movie logo and title might be revealed in the image above. The title is a simple “SONIC” in italics. If you want my graphic designer expert opinion, I don’t like it. Dropping “the Hedgehog” and using italics makes it read like Sonic Drive-In, and the addition of Sonic’s silhouette in the C looks clunky. Sonic already has a logo, so why not use that one?

SEGA News Bits: Jim Carrey To Play Eggman In The Sonic Hollywood Movie Reaction

We just got the news that Jim Carrey will be playing the infamous Dr. Eggman in the upcoming Paramount Pictures Sonic the Hedgehog movie. This confirms that the studio will be recasting the main Sonic the Hedgehog video game cast instead of having them be CGI with them reprising their roles. Jim Carrey will play villain ‘Robotnik’ in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie

According to Deadline exclusive sources, Jim Carrey has now negotiated with Paramount Pictures to star in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog CGI/Live Action movie. Jim Carrey is set to join James Marsden and Tika Sumpter in the Jeff Fowler directed movie later in 2019. As for me using ‘Robotnik’ in the title, its sorta mocking Deadline for using it then later in the article uses Dr. Eggman. According to everything I have read from sources, they will be using Dr. Eggman as a name in the movie. But what would you prefer?

Jim Carrey has sort of been off the movie radar as of late, with his last couple of movies coming in 2016 with The Bad Batch and Dark Crimes. Both films being smaller, indie affairs. It will seem that if this whole deal is true, Jim Carrey will return to mainstream film making via the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Personally don’t see the point of using Jim Carrey, but you know how movie studios are with big name celebrities joining these sort of projects.

X-Men Actor, James Marsden, to star in Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog Movie

Variety has confirmed that actor, James Marsden, known for his acting roles in movies such as the X-Men film series and Westworld, will star in Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie directed by Jeff Fowler. Neal H. Moritz, who recently signed a first-look deal with Paramount, is producing under his Original Film banner. “Deadpool” director Tim Miller will serve as executive producer, along with Toby Ascher. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will co-produce. Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie is set to begin production this July in Vancouver, Canada and set to be released to the big screen next year on November 15, 2019.

How do you guys feel about James Marsden starring in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie instead of Paul Rudd? Feel free to post your thoughts on the comments below.
