Two new Yakuza: Of the End Trailers – Amazing!

With every new trailer and every new bit of information we come across the crazy Yakuza spin off title ‘Ryu Ga Gotoku: Of the End’ AKA ‘Yakuza: Of the End’ just looks better and better.

I hope with this title the series starts to get the recognition it deserves in the West because Sega pulled off a pretty amazing feet putting out a Yakuza game the size of any good RPG pretty much year on year and each time it has got better and better with the exception of Yakuza 3 which didn’t quite live up to the events of Yakuza 2, story wise in my opinion. With this and the English release of Yakuza 4 I’m going to be deep in the Japanese underworld all year in 2011!

Yakuza of the End zombie types detailed

[Sexy zombie researcher? Check]

You can’t just have a game with zombies, that doesn’t work. You have to have classes of zombies, every game has to have a variety of these brain munchers and Yakuza of the End is no different. Famitsu this week introduced a few of the classes you can expect in the full game.

  • Yakuza type: These are those annoying people that challenged you to fights in former games at random, now sharp dressed zombies. They aren’t very strong.
  • Nakionna Type: “Nakionna” is those women you see crying at funerals. Them, as zombies, will scream for back up. Take ’em out!
  • Homeless Zombie: Homeless people are zombies too, you know? Even though they are zombies, they act the same… however homeless people act.

If you haven’t seen the other pictures, that lady in white is Reiko Hasegawa, a sexy zombie researcher. She will keep you informed on all your zombie craving news.

Unreleased Yakuza 3D was amazing says director

Toshihiro Nagoshi was in Nintendo World this weekend to promote the upcoming Super Monkey Ball 3DS; if you didn’t know, Nagoshi is also the director for the Yakuza series.
He updated his blog while he was there, and this lead to readers posting about a Yakuza 3D title, and if there will ever be one. According to Nagoshi, the team has already worked with 3D for a Yakuza title. He teases us, “Yakuza 3D was amazing.”

Most of his blog post was about 3D technology and why it’s difficult to use. He explained that making the image come out in 3D is not hard, but since 3D has to use an image twice, you lose some visual quality. He said that they had to choose between using the full power of the game or degrading it to half for the 3D effect. Why not have optional 3D like all 3D PS3 titles?

Hideki Kamiya discribes favorite scene in Bayonetta

PSM3 magazine had a feature titled ‘100 moments of 2010’, where they had a chit chat with Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya. The boys over at CVG got some quotes that didn’t make the magazine, like what his favorite moment of Bayonetta was.

“When people ask me what my favourite scene is, all I can say is ‘all of them’… Well, if I had to pick one, I would say it is the scene where Joy first appears in the game, with Bayonetta and her impostor getting into a pose battle.

That was my way of expressing the feminine notion that, to one woman, all other women are enemies. Even women walking by each other will check out what the other is wearing, and might smoulder a bit with antagonism. Women are scary.” – Hideki Kamiya, Director of Bayonetta

Also the YouTube video above is the scene he is talking about. CVG for some reason titled this article “X-rated Bayonetta scene is creator’s favourite”. Thanks for the misleading title, that scene is as X-Rated as those Britney Spears videos that play on MTV during the day for 7th grade girls.

Yakuza of the End has forklifts, start Shenmue nostalgia

Seems that the Yakuza development team is showing some Shenmue love by giving players the ability to drive a forklift in the zombie filled city in their upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive.

The forklift was listed in the latest Famitsu magazine, which listed a bunch of other vehicles a player could use. This included tanks, armored cars and bulldozers. So maybe a forklift is the least badass of the vehicles announced.

It has also been confirmed that crazy Goro Majima will be able to use a flame thrower, chainsaw and rail gun. Each character will have their own unique weapons.

Aliens Colonal Marines – Old Teaser, Good Quality

The title says it all really. I think it was E3 2008 when this teaser trailer was first shown off behind closed doors. Somebody out there was good enough to film it, secretly off screen. The video quality left a lot to be desired. wobbly and out of focus if I remember correctly.

Rejoice, aliens fans! Someone has recently been kind enough to uploaded a perfect quality version of the same video. It hasn’t been officially released by Sega, so this is kind of old news. But still, it is very pretty.

As for the game, Aliens: Colonial Marines in a recent interview with Sega’s Alan Prichard the game was again confirmed to be in development and we should be hearing more about it in 2011. Fingers crossed!

Yakuza of the End’s partner system detailed

SEGA is changing up the Yakuza formula, not just adding more gun play and zombies, but a ‘partner system’. The partner system is called “Aibo wo Tsukurou!” or in English “Let’s make a partner!”

If you clear some sub story missions you will unlock partner characters, which you will be able to level up and bring with you to challenge dungeons called “Kamurocho Underground.” While fighting you will be able to give them commands.

Some of the partner characters will be returning faces like Kazuto Arase and Makoto Date. To level up your partner characters a user has to go to “Gary’s Boot Camp”, which is run by Gary Buster Holmes, who you might remember from the first two PS2 games.

Yakuza 4 Character Trailer – Masayoshi Tanimura

Here is another Yakuza 4 character trailer. This trailer tells the back story of ‘good cop gone bad’ Masayoshi Tanimura who is on the hunt for his fathers killer… But not before he does some gambling.

Anyone reminded of Shenmue?

This could be the final character trailer for the game as all main characters have had their story told now. Unless they plan on doing trailers for the sub-characters or bad guys. That could be cool.

Project Diva 2 will be playable on PS3 too

If you didn’t know, the first Project Diva game was playable on the PS3 via a application you bought called “Hatsune Miku Dreamy Theater” and now SEGA has said they are planning Hatsune Miku Dreamy Theater 2nd.

This app will basically let you play the PSP game, on the PS3 with high definition graphics. It is expected to come out in Summer 2011, no price announced just yet.

You can check out the official site here, even has a teaser for the app here.

Hyperdimension Neptunia to have SEGA tie-ins intact

As you know, NIS America is bringing over Hyperdimension Neptunia to the States. When it was announced, I assume that all copyrighted SEGA power-ups that where announced for the Japanese release would be taken out. Seems not so.

“Upon acquisition, they will allow you to customize your battle combinations to add, for example, an Alex Kidd or Space Harrier special summon attack where you can deal some serious late 80’s/Early 90’s damage to your foe.”Ryan Phillips, Marketing Coordinator, NIS America

Not only was this info released, we also got a new trailer. Which you are able to view above.

SEGA reveals Yakuza Mobile & of the end release date

SEGA has been teasing a Yakuza announcement since Monday. What is all the racket about? It seems that SEGA will have a Yakuza Mobile (Ryu ga Gotoku Mobile) that ties in with their games. Not many details have been posted in terms of gameplay, but it is revealed that you will be able to trade weapons for the mobile game to Yakuza of the End on the PS3.

Talking about Yakuza of the End, SEGA has also announced the Japanese release date for the game. It will be hitting store shelves on March 17th, a year and two days after they released Yakuza 4 over there.
