Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X gets high praise from Famitsu

MikuX

On this week’s Famitsu issue, the Japanese magazine reviews a bunch of new games including the PlayStation Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X.

Here are all the reviews:

  • Dance with Devils (PSV) – 8/7/8/7 [30/40]
  • Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune (PS4) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]
  • Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus (PSV) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]
  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X (PSV) – 9/9/9/9 [36/40]
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence Sengoku Risshiden (PS4) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence Sengoku Risshiden (PS3) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence Sengoku Risshiden (PSV) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
  • Shirogane x Spirits (PSV) – 7/6/6/6 [25/40]
  • Trackmania Turbo (PS4) – 8/8/7/8 [31/40]
  • Trackmania Turbo (XBO) – 8/8/7/8 [31/40]

That’s right, it was the highest rated game of the week by getting all 9s. If you don’t know how Famitsu reviews work, they get four writers to review one game and rate it from 1-10; adding up the scores in the end. Thus Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X gets a 36 out of 40.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition ‘Ako and Lucian’ gameplay released

We posted before that Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition was getting  ‘Ako and Lucian’ from Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta?‘ (translates to: “And you thought there is  never a girl online?”) manga. Actually this DLC will launch along side of Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta? anime that is set to hit in Japan on April 7th.

Sadly for Westerners that purchased Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax , this DLC won’t be available since its only for the re-released Ignition. But if you wanna import a copy Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition it is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

What do you guys think of the new characters and will you be watching Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta? anime come April?

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition to add Netoge no Yome’s Ako and Lucian via DLC

DBFCI_03-07-16_003Seems that SEGA will be supporting Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition via paid DLC as they have just announced Netoge no Yome‘s Ako (voiced by Rina Hidaka) and Lucian (voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga) as playable characters. If you didn’t know, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition hasn’t been released in the US, we got the previous title just known as Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax. Yes, it was a poor decision in SEGA’s part for not waiting for this updated re-release, which seems at this point to be the definitive version.

Both characters are from ‘Netoge no Yome wa Onna no Ko Janai to Omotta?‘ (translates to: “And you thought there is  never a girl online?”) which is a comedic manga where a naive protagonist proposes to a female character in an online game, only to find out that its actually a guy. Being traumatized by the experience, he vows to never trust females online again, until a female proposes to him…

No release date for the characters has been announced, but they will be playable at this year’s Dengeki Game Festival in Japan. Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition is out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in Japan.

DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours getting Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier and Galaxy Force II DLC

DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours, the latest entry in Taito’s DARIUS series of side-scrolling shoot’em up games is getting some very SEGA-fied DLC. Taito is set to release SEGA themed DLC packs that span from Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier and all the way to Galaxy Force II. Above is the Fantasy Zone one, which includes Opa-Opa as a ship to drive, theme music and even coins drop from the enemies (and is used as currency for other weapons!). Very interesting way of including the franchise.

Even more interesting, SEGA’s Hiroshi Kawaguchi is a guest composer on the game who wrote a few new remixes being used on the Space Harrier DLC. New Hiro remixes of his old tracks? Yes, please! DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours is out now on PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4 and PC.

[EDIT: Looks like the Japanese news site Game Watch put the previews in private. We will update the article when they release said videos]

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir tops Japanese sales chart on debut week

OdinSphereLief
Atlus seems to have made the right choice bringing back Odin Sphere, as Liefthrasir has topped the Japanese sales chart on its debut week. The game took the number one and two spots, with the PlayStation Vita coming in at first with 43,394 sales and a close second on the PlayStation 4 with 42,263 units sold. That’s right, the PlayStation Vita is still big in Japan.

As for the PlayStation 3 version of the game, that came in at tenth place with 9,771 units sold. That means that all together Odin Sphere: Liefthrasir sold over 95,428 units in Japan in the span of three days. Impressive for the region and it being a remake. Odin Sphere: Liefthrasir hits North America on June 7, check out the limited edition release.

Hit the jump to see the full sales chart.

PlayStation Essentials Sale slashes prices on Persona games

Persona_4_investigation_team_2Are you a SEGA fan that still hasn’t tried any of the popular Persona series video games? I think now is the time for you to jump on board since Sony has put three entries on sale! All prices are USD. Persona is like Final Fantasy as you don’t need to play the prior ones to enjoy a new entry. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a fighting game that continues the plot after the RPG games, FYI:

If the prices aren’t low enough, Playstation Plus members get an extra savings (ranging from 10%-20%). If you have a Playstation Vita I would suggest picking up Persona 4 Golden instead of the PS2 classic version, since it has more content. You can read about that here. The sale ends on January 19th.

If you have an extra $4.00 dollars I suggest you also pick up one of my favorite Playstation One games, none other than Tomba!  a game created by Capcom legend Tokuro Fujiwara.

Atlus has ‘several unannounced titles for 2016’

newipgamesatlusIn an interview this week Atlus CEO, Naoto Hiraoka told Famitsu of the company’s plans for 2016 and beyond:

“In 2015, we were able to develop existing IP like Persona 4: Dancing All Night and Etrian Mystery Dungeon. In 2016, starting with Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, we plan to release a large number of titles. In the summer, we’ll launch the long-awaited Persona 5. Of course, in addition to that we have several unannounced titles. I have no doubt this will be a year Atlus’ popular series all gather together.”

Exciting news! So what do we already know about Atlus’ line up in 2016? So far they have the following games set to release: Odin Sphere Leifdrasir , Persona 5, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final, and Etrian Odyssey V. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say there might be more Persona and Shin Megami Tensai spin-offs in the works. What I am hoping for? Catherine 2!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X’s Quest Mode adds RPG like loot drops

hatsunemikuprojectx1SEGA is hard at work with their new Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X video game, which is set to add a bit of a RPG touch to its new Quest Mode evolving various attributes and some looting system. Live Quest Mode consist of different elemental areas such as: Neutral Area, Cute Area, Cool Area, Beauty Area, and Chaos Area.

The game happens to use Modules and accessories that have their own elements, so if you happen to use them with the element on the stage it will boost your voltage rating (see featured image above) and will earn items more effectively.

Modules will also give you skills that will help you out. For example there is a “Recover” type skill that helps you cover missed inputs and a “Rate Up” skills that add more to your voltage gain. There is even module skills that affect module drop rates. Hit the jump to see some tracks and modules used in the upcoming game.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone to run at 1080p and 60fps on PS4

HatsuneMikuFutureTone
SEGA has revealed during their Tokyo Game Show panel, oddly enough named ‘Sega feat. Hatsune Miku Project’, that Hatsune Miku: Project  Diva Future Tone will run at 1080p at 60 frames per second on the Playstation 4. If you didn’t catch the announcement for this title, its a console port of the long requested Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade game.

SEGA also confirmed that Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone will be coming out after Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X (yes, there are two Hatsune Miku games in the works) which is due out on out for Playstation Vita in March.

Another small mention was the Playstation VR enabled ‘Sega feat. Hatsune Miku Project: VR Tech Demo’, which SEGA says if there is enough positive fan feedback that they will consider making it a full product.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

Dengeki-Bunko-Fighting-Climax-Ignition-Trailer
SEGA has updated last year’s Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax in arcades as Ignition, it was only a matter of time that it would come out on consoles. Well, it came out sooner than I expected, its going to hit Japanese consoles on December 17th. That’s right, a couple of months after the US release of the first one, the expanded version will hit Japan. Talk about deflating a release in America before it happen, I’m sure lots of Western buyerz that where going to get Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax are second guessing themselves and its something SEGA’s localization team has to improve on. Releasing Japanese games closer to their Japanese release date, not a year after. Atlus has done a great job, sometimes releasing their text heavy JRPGs two months after their Japanese release.

The game is hitting the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita again, while finally debuting on the Playstation 4. The game will have a expanded “Dream Duel” story mode that will expand the game new situations. Modes like “Network Mode”, “Training Mode” and “Gallery Mode” all make their appearance. As covered before this version of the game has two new playable characters: Quenser Barbotage (from Heavy Object) and Emi Yusa (from The Devil is Part-Timer).

Why SEGA refusing to localize Phantasy Star Online 2 is a bad sign

Phantasy Star Online 2
Given that we know the news that SEGA doesn’t have plans on publishing Phantasy Star Online 2 outside of Japan, at least for the Playstation 4 (though the PC and Vita versions have been out for over 3 years, so I assume those aren’t coming either). I stated in my original article that I thought it was a really bad decision and got many people upset while they tried  to debate me on the topic even though I never really stated why I felt it was a bad decision. So, here it is, my article talking about why SEGA West not bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 is just another stupid decision by the company that has had a long history of bad decisions.

I decided that it was time I did a write up about why SEGA West not bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 outside of Japan is bad,  not only for their in-house IP but also for their overall brand.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X officially announced for PSVita and PS4 for 2016

Here it is folks! SEGA has officially announced Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X for Playstation Vita and Playstation 4! The teaser site for the game still appears to be counting down, but regardless we now know Miku will be back on Sony hardware in 2016.

The trailer takes a look back on the last nine Hatsune Miku Project Diva games, and confirms various musicians involved with the project; as well as our first glimpse at the Playstation Vita version of the game! It’s unknown if there’s a PS4 trailer inbound but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. As for release dates, the Playstation Vita version is planned for March 2016, whilst the Playstation 4 edition is targeting Fall 2016.

It’s certainly a very exciting time to be a Miku fan though, what with Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX also being released on 3DS in a couple of weeks! It’s been stated SEGA will be bringing along a demo of the the game to the Miku Magical Mirai 2015 event, so we may get more information.

Stay tuned for this one folks!

SEGA officially confirms Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax hits America and Europe on October 6th

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Day Bonus Soundtrack
SEGA has finally confirmed that Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax will launch for Playstation 3 and PS Vita on October 6 in North America, South America and Europe. We made a post in June stating it was suppose to come out on August 25th, a date given to us by a Gamestop listing, but that date turned out to be wrong.

North and South America will have ‘special launch edition’ version of the game that will include a bonus soundtrack CD that includes tracks from SEGA composers like Teruhiko Nakagawa, Naofumi Hataya, Kenichi Tokoi, and Jun Senoue. This will only be available to pre-orders and day one copies.
