Puyo Puyo Tetris coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4, game releasing west

Puyo Puyo Tetris Switch screenshot

From the Nintendo Switch Presentation, different titles were shown off for the upcoming system, including Super Mario Odyssey, Arms, Splatoon 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. However in the middle of a montage highlighting different titles, Puyo Puyo Tetris was briefly shown as among the titles. Soon enough, SEGA themselves would confirm the game is indeed coming to Switch, titled Puyo Puyo Tetris S. It’s also implied that the game is getting a localization based on it’s presence in the presentation, which would tie to a previous report about Puyo Puyo Tetris trophies appearing in English on PSN.

[UPDATE] It is now officially confirmed Puyo Puyo Tetris is going to be localized for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

[UPDATE 2] We have a trailer! Check it out after the break!

The Nintendo Switch itself is launching on March 3rd, 2017 for the retail price of $299.99.

Review: Puyo Puyo Chronicles (3DS)

PuyoChronicle

25 years has past by for the Puyo Puyo series (27 if counting Madou Monogatari). Originally the series was conceived as a modest puzzle game in the same vain as Dr. Mario or Tetris on the MSX and Famicom Disk System, before making it big with the arcade games Puyo Puyo and Puyo Puyo Tsu. Even after the demise of Compile at the beginning of the new millennium, SEGA would still keep up the legacy of the franchise with the occasional new game and merchandising. Enough so that Puyo Puyo is considered one of SEGA’s “core” franchises in Japan.

Now that it’s the 25th anniversary of the Puyo Puyo series, naturally a new game would be released to compliment this milestone. However the new game in the series, Puyo Puyo Chronicles, takes a slightly different approach from the norm while at the same time trying to keep things familiar for long time fans. Is it a worthy milestone celebration chronicling the series strengths, or a sign that this chronicle should end?

Puyo Puyo Tetris to release in Korea on February 9th, 2017

sfddgsfdshge

The PS4 version of Puyo Puyo Tetris has been announced for a release in Korea on February 9th, 2017.

As previously reported, SEGA of Taiwan announced that they were going to localize select games in Traditional Chinese by establishing SEGA GAMES CS. One of the titles announced was a blurred out image teased to be Puyo Puyo Tetris with a TBA 2017 release. However, the interesting part is that this Korean release is not related to the implied Taiwan release in Traditional Chinese. This suggests that Puyo Puyo Tetris is being released in two different Asian markets outside of Japan, about three years after the game’s initial release in the case of the Korean version.

It’s unknown if there will any modifications, outside of the obvious language change.
