Did you pre-order that indie Dreamcast game SLaVE? Better login now and save your receipt!

On September 9th, 2014 we shared the news of a new indie Dreamcast game called SLaVE. The game has been in development for so long, that back in 2017 I posted a story updating readers on why it was taking so long, and while I am not here today to give another update, you can read that article. The reason I am writing about the game again is that GOAT Store, which is the home to GOAT Store Publishing who had taken 400 pre-orders for the game back in 2014, emailed those with user accounts giving an update on the site:

You are receiving this email because at some point, you signed up for a GOAT Store member account. Your member account gave you access to a record of your past GOAT Store orders – but that was it, we kept no other information. I’m writing this email because this weekend, we will be performing a major site upgrade, and when we do, we will not be able to carry over our current member system.

Because of this, if you wish to access or save any part of your order record, please head to https://www.goatstore.com ASAP as we intend to upgrade this coming weekend.

If this is a reminder that you loved the GOAT Store and want to order more great gaming stuff, our old site is available for ordering now!

Basically, if you ordered SLaVE, which is an old unfulfilled order, it is likely that your order history will disappear after this weekend. So head to the site now, login and screen capture or print out your order because you may lose any evidence that you pre-ordered the game.

I do not know what their future plans are, but if pre-orders are disputed or refunds are issued, it’s good to have proof you paid for the game 7 years ago.

During September of last year, longtime indie Dreamcast game publisher GOAT Store announced a new game entitled SLaVE. Described as a colorful first person shooter built around an enhanced Doom engine called 3DGE, SLaVE was due out in April of 2015. Since then, news has been light, but seeing as it is April of 2015 we finally have an update! Read the full e-mail from GOAT Store News after the break.

SLaVE announced for SEGA Dreamcast

The Dreamcast’s life-after-death continues with yet another new game from the indie scene: Jay Townsend’s SLaVE. This new game is considerably different from most other indie projects the Dreamcast has received over the last few years. Neither a sh’mup nor an old school RPG, SLaVE is instead a colorful first person shooter built around an enhanced Doom engine called 3DGE.

Jay Townsend is making this game in collaboration with indie developer Isotope and GOAT Store Publishing. Only 484 copies of the game will be produced, including 400 limited edition copies and 84 “Limited Limited” edition copies, which will be sold for $20.84 and $30.84 respectively. You can pre-order them here. Production is slated to begin in April 2015.

SLaVE is supposed to combine the game design sensibilities and aesthetics of 80s arcade shooters with old school first person shooters like Doom and Wolfenstein. The game was originally revealed for the PC and is not currently slated for any other platforms besides the Dreamcast.

This isn’t the only Dreamcast project GOAT Store and Isotope are working on. Earlier this year GOAT Store revealed that it would be publishing another Isotope project running on the same technology, Hypertension: Harmony of Darkness. Check out a developers diary for SLaVE and a trailer for Hypertension below the fold. Check out the official press release here.
