Viking: Battle for Asgard hits PC next week

Viking: Battle for Asgard was one of my favorite games when it came out back int 2008 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Now PC users will be able to fight the hoards of undead vikings on their uber powerful PC.
SEGA’s Hardlight Studio dropped a tweet stating that you can expect the game to hit Steam next week. So who is going to pick this one up? Even if it is 4 years too late.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed gameplay trailer reveals After Burner track and more!

Today SEGA has released a brand new trailer for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and it’s a must watch for any SEGA fan. Not only does the game looks pretty darn sweet, but it also confirms a few more tracks including an After Burner track named “Carrier Zone” where you race around air craft carriers, a track based on Starlight Carnival of Sonic Colours fame named “Galactic Parade” and a Samba de Amigo stage based on a movie studio named “Samba Studios”. But most exciting of all, for me, is that there is a track based on Skies of Arcadia, entitled “Rogues Landing”. Consider my timbers well and truly shivered! Names for previously revealed tracks have also been named: NiGHTS will race through “Dream Valley” and the special/bonus edition of the game will feature OutRun’s “OutRun Bay”.

See if you can spot anything I’ve missed, and after the break check out the first screen of the Seaside Hill track named “Ocean View.

Jet Set Radio HD gets a price “tag” and release dates!

YES!! @#$*ing finally!

Today, the Sega blogs have finally given us both the long-awaited release dates and price for Jet Set Radio HD. This digitally distributed darling will arrive on September 18th for PSN and the 19th for LIVE and Steam. Better news for those with Playstation Plus, you’ll be getting it a week early on September 11th. As promised, all 3 dates are technically still “summer” (although, I don’t know a single kid who won’t be in school by then). Those waiting for the Vita version will have to wait just a little bit longer as it arrives on October 16th. All versions will arrive at a super-cheap price of $9.99 (I’d have totally paid double that, but don’t tell Sega). No word yet on the iOS and mobile versions. Press release details at the comment link.

Hell Yeah! – Pimp It Up Trailer

In other Hell Yeah related news here is a brand new trailer. As the title suggests this trailer focuses on the customization featured in Hell Yeah which includes pimping your drill and wearing masks. We’re not yet sure if those customizations effect the gameplay or if they are just aesthetic changes. We’ll get back to you on that.

Viking: Battle for Asgard Added to Steam Registry

Sega and Creative Assembly’s 2008 game Viking: Battle for Asgard has turned up on the Steam registry and we assume will soon be available for purchase from the Steam store. This marks Viking: Battle for Asgards début on the PC having released exclusively for Xbox360 and PS3 in 2008.

If this is the beginning for Sega’s new digital strategy then I’m all for it. I absolutely loved Viking, Whilst flawed in some areas the game was full of potential and the epic battles were a thing of beauty. If this means we might get a sequel to Viking then I’ll happily double dip.

You can visit the Viking: Battle for Asgard EULA page HERE.

[On another note, I’m back! I’ve been in America for the past three months with limited internet access, hello again Sega fans!]

Steam has Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing on sale for $3.74

Steam right now has Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing as their daily deal, slashing the price of the game from $14.99 to only $3.74. That is a deal right there. Even though the PC version of the game has the best graphics out of all the versions, the PC version is missing the online component, if that is important to you.

So if you are a PC gamer and haven’t picked this title up yet, can’t go wrong at $3.74.

Sonic Team gives Hell Yeah! their approval

Arkedo Studios, the French developer behind the upcoming digital title Hell Yeah! had a meeting with two main members of Sonic Team, where they played the game and told them what they thought about it. One of the guys was the infamous and lovable Takashi Iizuka.

“They said, not a lot sucks, but you should pay attention to what happens when you’re jumping, the stop and go, the inertia you have when you’re jumping on platforms. You should add this little thing, this little thing… We said, hey yeah, it’s much better. Thank you very much. That’s the craftsmanship. Those guys, they are bright yellow, they glow. Okay, this guy knows what he’s talking about. We loved it.”

Yeah, there are now developers asking Sonic Team what they think about their platforming game. I consider this to be a positive step and I’m glad that Arkedo Studios is so open to feedback. I think this is something that more developers need to do. If something is broken, fix it. Make a great game! Hit the jump to hear more quotes on what they thought!

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II’s release rollout begins!

It’s here! Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II has started to release on the many platforms promised to receive the game. The first to see the game’s release is Steam, the same platform that inadvertently released the game a few weeks back. Those who pre-ordered the game and got the early beta download can now download the completed version. Beta players are reporting that their save file transferred successfully to the new version. American’s on Playstation Network can expect the game to release today. The American XBLA will get the game tomorrow, as will Europeans on XBLA and PSN. Other platforms, such as iOS and other mobile devices, will receive the game between now and July. SEGA has yet to give specific dates. Have you downloaded and played the game? Hit up our forums and share your thoughts!

Play Total War Battles and get free DLC for Shogun 2

SEGA is going to be smart and cross promote the iOS game, Total War Battles: Shogun with the high selling PC title Total War: Shogun 2. So how are they going to do this? If you finish the campaign in the mobile game you will unlock a key-code, which will unlock the Sendai Clan Pack for Total War: Shogun 2 on PC (via Steam).

Sendai will give you +10 diplomatic relations and a 2-turn reduction time surrendering castles, -1 resistance to occupation and lastly -3 unhappiness from other allegiances.  Not bad for it sort of being free, if you buy the mobile version.

Also the iOS game is getting a skirmish mode update soon. This will let you choose a difficulty level and get right into a battle, you will be able to complete the full campaign and use new legendary units. This is for people that don’t want the story in the way of their bloodshed.

Early Sonic 4: Episode 2 beta temporarily leaked onto Steam. Now disabled.

Customers who pre-ordered Sonic 4: Episode 2 on Steam got quite a surprise late Friday night when an early Beta of the game became available for them to download. The download has since been taken off of Steam and those who downloaded have found that the “play” option has been disabled making it defunct. Of course, this was not before players uploaded a bunch of videos all over the internet. However, out of respect to Sega and to keep our readers spoiler-free until the game’s release, we will not be linking any of those videos on our site.  Read on for more detail.

Binary Domain coming to PC on April 27th

The release date for the digital version of Binary Domain has gotten a release date. You can download yourself a copy of the game on April 27th, aka in 10 days. SEGA has confirmed there are pre-order bonuses for both digital and boxed versions of the game, meaning there will be a retail version of the PC game. One of the pre-order bonuses is the ‘Dan Marshall Pack’ which gives the lead character more bionic upgrades and weapons. There is also the ‘Multiplayer Pack’ that adds Ninja as a playable class in multiplayer.

So who is going to pick this game up?

Preview footage of Hell Yeah! Arkedo and SEGA’s chainsaw bunny platformer

Arkedo’s up and coming strange but yet fantastic looking title Hell Yeah was shown at PAX and it is the first time we got to see a decent amount and also plenty of focus on the gameplay. Project Hell Yeah! promises to feature over a hundred different enemy types and a good deal of customization. We also find a rough release date for the title, with Arkedo’s Camille Guermonprez saying we should expect Hell Yeah! for PSN, XBLA and Steam in mid-summer.
