Yakuza: Black Panther 2 fan translation coming January 7th, 2022

Back during the height of the Sony PSP, SEGA released two spin-off Yakuza titles starring a totally new and younger protagainst named Tatsuya Ukyo. SEGA called the series “Yakuza: Black Panther” (Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō). Of course the games never came out in English and have been exclusive to Japan.

The first PSP game has already been translated into English,  but now thanks to a fan translation group known as TeamK4L, we will be getting the sequel, fully translated on January 7th, 2022. So keep those PSP emulators on standby or keep your PSP’s battery charged till next year!

After 20 years, the manga version of “Skies of Arcadia” will be published electronically in 2022 only in Japan

Today, October 5th 2021, marks the 21st anniversary of Skies of Arcadia (aka Eternal Arcadia) in Japan and former Map Designer of the game, Kenji Hiruta, made an announcement that the Skies of Arcadia manga will be published electronically in 2022 only in Japan.

The short-lived serialization was a tie-in to the video game of the same name released in 2000. Illustrated by the game’s concept artist, HOSHI Itsuki, and written by the game’s official story consultant, FUJIMOTO Junya, it was briefly published in Gekkan Magazine Z, and was never collected in tankoubon format.

With the support from fans and Kenji Hiruta long journey in negotiating with SEGA and the publisher along with finding the mysterious person who was involved with the serialization, a tremendous miracle was achieved.

You can read his entire blog post on the process on how Kenji Hiruta was able to get the manga version of Skies of Arcadia published here. Fingers crossed if he can get the English version published for the western audience.

Ex-Sonic Mania developer Evening Star working on a 3D Action Platformer

Its been over half a decade since SEGA teamed up Christian Whitehead and the crew to develop Sonic Mania. About two years ago, most of the ex-developers went on to form Evening Star Studios.

Earlier today, Evening Star posted on Twitter that they were hiring for their new upcoming title and checking their website under games, you see them teasing their new upcoming original game.

Let’s break down what we know:

  • New Publisher (not SEGA)
  • Debuting Star Engine game
  • 3D Action platformer
  • Character seems to use Yo-Yo as a weapon
  • Puffy pants, puffy gloves and puffy shoes?
  • Shadow features peach and purple gradient (possible colors for the main character?)

What do you guys think of the developers creating a brand new, 3D action platformer?

Sonic the Hedgehog coming to Monster Hunter Rise

Capcom has just announced not only that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC (January 12, 2022) and that they have a new expansion called Sunbreak (coming Summer 2022) but that they also announced they will be doing a collaboration with Ghost ‘n Goblins: Resurrection and Sonic the Hedgehog!

This is what Capcom said in the press release:

“Finally, and also first revealed today, Monster Hunter is teaming up with Sega to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog‘s 30th anniversary in Monster Hunter Rise. More details on this exciting new collaboration will be shared soon, prior to the Event Quest’s release in November.”

So stay tuned as Capcom will eventually show what these items will look like and what Sonic characters will be included in the event. I just want a Chao pet, to be honest!

Super Monkey Ball outfit coming to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is just around the corner, so some promotional events had to be coming. A big one is that Super Monkey Ball themed outfit will be coming to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. According to this tweet, “AiAi has rolled into Fall Guys!”, so its most likely just our lead monkey getting Fall Guys love. GonGon is probably highly upset at this transgression.

Usually these promotional outfits are available in the Fall Guys in-game store for a limited time and is usually bought for in-game currency (called Kudos) but always seem to have an expensive price tag for promotional items (pieces of outfits for Jungle Book cost up to 11,000 Kudos each for example). Of course, Kudos are also available to purchase for real world money, how do you think this game keeps the lights on?

AiAi and Super Monkey Ball is the second SEGA franchise to make it into Fall Guys since Sonic the Hedgehog had a big event in 2020.

Lost Judgment Review – Our Favorite Detective is Back and Better Than Ever (PlayStation 4)

SEGA’s RGG Studio has really made a name for themselves as the premier triple A studio within SEGA. What’s more impressive than the quality of the games, which have all been pretty great, is how many games the studio seems to be able to release. This year the studio has brought us a sequel to Judgment, which is a spin-off to the Yakuza franchise, where instead of playing a Yakuza, you play as Takayuki Yagami, as you can tell from his cool wallet chain, tight jeans, shaggy hair, and leather jacket, this guy doesn’t play by the rules. He’s a Ex-Lawyer, Turned Detective for Hire that just happens to be well versed in Kung Fu. The first Judgment was a enjoyable experience, but it did come off as a bit janky towards the end. Did Lost Judgement fix these issues? Let’s find out!

Bayonetta 3 finally shows off gameplay footage on Nintendo Direct, officially coming 2022

Bayonetta 3 is one of those games we have all been waiting for here at SEGAbits, we did a post about how Nintendo Japan had the game slated for release in 2022 and now Nintendo Direct’s latest presentation has confirmed it! Plus we got a look at the game for the first time, which includes an all new designed Bayonetta.

The game actually looks quite good for being a Nintendo Switch game and it seems to have good framerate. This is easily the nicest looking title shown at the show. But what do you guys think? What you think of her new look?
