Sonic Colors – Act 1 Planet Wisp complete playthrough [update]

Kotaku had SEGA America community manager Aaron Webber play through the first act of Planet Wisp for them at PAX. This video is a change of pace from other Sonic Colors gameplay videos as of recently. RubyEclipse is an expert at this game. As you can see from the gameplay footage, Sonic Colors looks a lot like Sonic Unleashed.

Edit: Here is another video, it is much clearer in quality but the player isn’t as good. Hit the jump to see it.

Explanation of the Emergency Maintenance

Hey everyone. Sorry about the emergency maintenance. We realized that WP-united was creating duplicate user accounts in wordpress for no reason at all. So I had to go through the user mapping tool and break all the integration on the duplicate accounts and then delete all the duplicate accounts while integrating the real accounts.

Then after that I had to go and link all the newly posted articles to their rightful author. I can’t link comments to a specific author, so all comments that have been made on the new posts since the site relaunch say “UNREGISTERED”. Just wanted to let you guys know about that.

Hopefully this error doesn’t happen again, seeing as I have all current accounts integrated. Sorry if this downtime caused any inconvenience!

We could be seeing Sakura Wars at TGS

People want a new Sakura Wars game and it seems that the series developer, Red Entertainment, has something to announce soon. They updated their blog with a hint about a TGS announcement.

“The next time I handle the blog, I believe I will, for the first time in a while, be able to have a splendid announcement.”

The splendid announcement could be something else besides a new Sakura Wars. Even if its a new game, I doubt it will be released here. I head “Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love” didn’t do so hot.

Sonic Colours Multiplayer hands on

Here is a video showing off the brand new multiplayer game play in Sonic Colours for the Wii. You will unlock multiplayer levels as you collect hidden red rings in the single player zones.

Multiplayer is a Co-op affair with where you use wisp powers to help each other get though the level. There is also a hint of competitiveness to keep things exciting.

I personally hope they also bring back a VS racing mode like in the classics or Sonic Adventure 2:Battle.

SEGAbits hitting the 1.0 with remixed look

Welcome to SEGAbits 1.0, nothing much has really changed. We obviously have a lighter background and a new feature bar, that is a lot easier to update. That is good for the writers! We moved the login box to the top, to allow us to have more stuff on the right side of the blog (which we will be adding later).

Sorry for the downtime, I hope you enjoy the new look. Tell us what you think.

Conduit 2 won’t be released this year

Conduit 2 has been delayed to the first quarter of 2011. When the game does come out though, it will support the classic controller and classic controller pro, if you aren’t into the whole motion controller thing.

We already know that High Voltage Studios has fired some of its staff and the remaining people are working on this game, seems that they fired them too soon and could have used those helping hands!

SEGAbits Monthly August 2010 issue

Alright, so I sort of intended to do this monthly but I was on vacation for the July issue. I apologize. So here is August’s round up of stories. Sadly, this month is a bit shallow with orginal content, we are going to deliver tons of original stuff for the September round up.

Sonic Colors Multiplayer Revealed

Not long ago, Amazon.jp leaked the above screenshot on their website. Many speculated that the screenshot was proof of some sort of co-operative multiplayer mode.

Well, turns out those speculations where right! SEGA recently stopped by IGN’s offices to drop off the latest build of Sonic Colors, and the new co-op mode was the highlight.

According to IGN, the two players control “Sonic Robots”, which are put through a simulation built by Eggman. The co-op mode is unlocked by those red medallions that we’ve been seeing in the level videos. While there is a limited amount of competition between the two players, there will also be many instances where they will need to work together, such as combining two different wisp powers to overcome an obstacle.

IGN also noted that the co-op mode could be rather difficult, in contrast to the easier levels we’ve seen in the demos so far.

No word on whether or not the mode will go online, but given the Wii’s track record with online co-op I doubt it.

Yakuza 4 Box Art Revealed!

Pretty damn good right? While Yakuza 1 and 2 had pretty good box art, Sega got a lot of flack for the rather cheap looking Yakuza 3 cover art.

However rejoice, Yakuza 4 has one a very striking and suitable box art, in fact I would go as far as to say it is the best Western cover art for the series so far.

Note the subliminal messages all over the cover promoting ‘sexy girls’ and sex in general, nice!

Sonic 4 Lost Labyrinth trailer

So, what can we complain about this time? He runs… too fast? No, his shoes are the wrong red! He should be left handed!

But in all seriousness, personally I think this game is looking very, very good. Are people going to find things to complain about? Of course they will. But I’m seeing 2D game play, I’m seeing just Sonic playable, badniks, zones, platforming, no voice acting, no bad scripts, no shitty pop music. So, my personal biggest complaints have been delt with.

Will it have its faults? I guarantee it! Will it be the closest thing to classic Sonic we have seen in 15 odd years? I’m betting on yes.

Also If I’m not mistaken, this seems to be a newer build of the game. The Sonic model looks slightly different, moves slightly different. But I’ll let our forum members do the analyzing.

Vanquish story trailer

This awesome new story trailer for Vanquish has got me right pumped!

To be quite honest I haven’t really been looking forward to the story of Vanquish I suspected it might be a bit of a throw away story to help set up the mad situations the main character may find himself in. Like Bayonetta. I’m in love with the game play in demo though.

However now, after this frankly very cool trailer, I’m excited for both. Bring on Vanquish!

My Eleven Hour Dreamcast Party

Last year I held a Dreamcast birthday party which streamed live online. As the Dreamcast was turning ten, I held the party for ten hours. This year, I’m doing one better: one hour better! I’m excited to share “Dreamroom 2010: The Eleven Hour Dreamcast Party”! The official date and times are as follows:

September 9th, 2010
12am-11pm EST (US), 6pm-5am GMT (UK)

Last year was a blast, and I’m sure this year will be just as fun. For those who missed last year’s Dreamroom, essentially it will be ten hours of Dreamcast gaming streamed live online with live chat. The first half will be me going solo playing Dreamcast games. During the second half the IRL party kicks off with whoever I invited showing up for multiplayer games and the occasional visit to Seaman.

Games will be played from my library, and requests are welcomed! Expect to see some of the best, worst and delightfully oddest Dreamcast games. Of course a Dreamcast birthday party isn’t a birthday party without the guests, so I hope to see everyone (virtually) there!
