Pier Solar Unboxing and Preview

The latest indie release for the… SEGA Genesis?! That’s right! We’re not talking indie Dreamcast, we’re going way back to SEGA’s 16-bit wonder! Let’s unbox and boot up the Pier Solar Reprint Edition.

After the video, make sure to check out the developers website and order yourself a copy. How often do you get a new Genesis or Mega Drive game? And it’s only $45. That’s cheaper than a Genesis game bought back in the 1990’s.

You have a pleasant voice Barry, I wish I could pay you so you could narrate my life.

  2. I'd be happy to, $50/hour and you've got a deal!

  3. DCGX says:

lol I love the very end of your vid.

Oh and Dreamcast had a terrible last year with not a single original release all we got was Fast Striker. Which I'm thankful for but it was the worst year in dc history.

In 2009, we had three (and a half with PINK BULLETS) releases Dux, R4 and Irides.

Yeah I agree wiith george. It was clear and very informative. Your great at it. I enjoyed watching it.

I want the game so much now

Hahahaha yeah the ending was great. Looking forward to it. The music was beautiful with the CD soundtrack. Wonder how it'll sound with just the genesis cartridge

  8. Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I'm hoping to do one or two videos a month spread out over the various SEGA Network blogs. Next up is the Nomad Gameplay which will (obviously) feature the Genesis audio.

I played a few minutes with the Genesis audio accidentally, when I realized my SEGA CD hadn't been detected (it's a hardware problem with my SEGA CD, not a game/disc problem). It sounded very good, though not as good as the CD audio.

My 32X and SEGA CD can be jerks sometimes, though my Genesis is perfect. My 32X requires me to tilt the cartridge forward and my SEGA CD requires a few restarts before being detected. At least they function, but it is annoying. Again, not Pier Solar's fault. It's just old hardware being old.

Maybe you should buy a MultiMega (which is also 32x compatible).

  10. Eh, CDX's are awesome, but are also hella expensive.

I like the ending with "Low Battery" and Sonic drowns…

Yeah, your voice is perfect for stuff like the podcast. I do not know why they kept bringing me on with my terrible studdering and rambling.

Great video though man, I am a weird group of people who considering packaging of games to be extremely important and it is one of my biggest pet peeves with SEGA lately, I think they are the cheapest with that stuff.

But I really am considering this now based on that honestly. I am haing some issues with my SEGA CD, but otherwise the only other purchase I want to make that is around this price is Virtual-On Force, so it is hard to choose between this and that.

  14. Thanks Sanus! I'd consider getting Pier Solar before VOF, just because Pier Solar could go out of print forever at any moment while VOF will surely be around for the same price for quite a while. Unless you're talking about the special edition box of Force. I believe Pier Solar is going through the second round of reprints. No word of when they'll run out.

Do you know if this would work on a RetroN3? I’d like to pick up a copy of this game if at all possible I also plan on purchasing a RetroN3 soon…..was hoping this would work on it 🙂
