We’ll talk about it later. For now, just watch it!

    Sonic Extreme lives!!

  2. Shigs says:

    X-Treme. My bad.

  3. Shigs says:

Don’t like the “pulling up from ledge” thing though.

  4. Phil says:

The style and the gameplay looks like a stupid mario game. Sry Sega you failed again. Im so disappointed. -.-

  5. Phil says:

Just facts. I have no problems with new stuff but this game look like a retarded “they stole my candy” story, stupid enemys, and bad gameplay. And the fact, its Wii U only, shrinks a good looking game. I hope ill be wrong at the end. But for now i see game with a 4/10 ranking. 🙁

    Looks pretty interesting.
Has some Mario-ish elements which Wii U owners will undoubtedly like.

Some things, such as climbing ledges, seem really pointless, though. And Sonic should be fighting Robotnik, not some Pixar movie rejects.

  7. Amazed at the reaction here, given how positive TSSMB, Retro, and our own forums are.

“And the fact, its Wii U only, shrinks a good looking game.”

The REAL reason he hates it.

  9. Monkeroony says:

I love it, I do own a Wii U, and I admit it does look a lot like Super Mario Galaxy, but the controls looks good and the art direction is solid.

The enemies look kind of dopey but I’m definitely interested. I still want to see how they other worlds look and how the broader world, the “planet” looks.

Really impressed with how the game seems to play out, even with how much like X-Treme it looks. The Nintendo inspiration is obvious and somewhat annoying, but the game looks as if it plays pretty well. Seems like there is no boosting and the stick-to-walls mechanics seem like a cool idea.

The enemies are seriously pathetically childish looking and the fact they presented them before they even showed the game sends alarms off for me. Just because it is designed for Nintendo fans does not mean it HAS to look like baby shit, come on…

Looking forward to it though. Hoping the 3DS version is not entirely 2D.

  12. Ben says:

Not sure about the art style, I hope future levels look a litte less Saturn-ish…

Gameplay looks intriguing, though. I’m definitely interested in learning more. Though it does look like it could get some people with motion sickness a bit of a headache.

  13. DCGX says:

My first thought was it looked really similar to the Mario Galaxy games as well, but those games are awesome so I am not opposed to it. It’s NOT a storybook game at least, so I’m really looking forward to this.

From the sound of it ‘Phil’ just has a stick up his ass.

I feel the knee jerk reaction from most here with genuine hate for the Wii U exclusive status. If it were multiplatform, some of the gripes would never exist but the new “meant to play like a Nintendo title” is just completely silly. I don’t ever recall any Super Mario game looking or playing like this. Anyone who hated ledge gripping must have hated Ristar as well as many other Sega games. Sales and review ratings before the game is even complete? Really?

Sure the level design in that stage did look loosely inspired by Super Mario Galaxy but looks to play completely different in countless ways. All what was shown here was ONE level. Because its on a Nintendo system it must have been “dumbed down” for a Nintendo exclusive console, all the pot shots come from the haters and the fanboys holding a Xbox or PS3 badge of honor.

What I seen was entirely different. Some areas of the clip inspired by Temple Run play mechanics.

This trailer showed clips of various areas and some characters I don’t recall but hey. We don’t like change here do we? Just the same Sonic Adventure rehashed and spewed out again fighting Dr. Robotnik? I thought we left that game in another castle. :-p

I like how different this game seems to be, while it seems interesting, it’s not the type of game that would make me interested in an Wii U, and so I won’t be missing out much in not getting a console I don’t want to get.

I wan to know if this will be a eShop Game or a Retail in store purchase (Disc)?

    Anyone know?

if its the eShop, I would start to worry.

  17. Emmett The Crab says:

I think it looks fun. I’m not a huge Sonic fan, so I’d only buy it if some other games convinced me to buy a Wii-U.

  18. Kevin-N says:

My first impression was Sonic xtreme 😉
On a dutch site they were saying it looks like Mario Galaxy and i told them it looks like Sonic Xtreme.
It looks nice i hope it’s come on disc !
