SEGA planning another live stream event… with special guests featuring Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, Ms. Arisa Noto and Hiroshi Fujioka (Segata Sanshiro)

Segata_Sanshiro
Toriaa! SEGA fans of yesteryear can rejoice as SEGA Corporation is having a two part live stream event featuring Takenobu Mitsuyoshi and his SEGA Sound Unit band,  Ms. Arisa Noto (“Hello, Little Monsters”) as a guest vocal along with a special guest who was famous as a certain judo karate expert who we all know and love who beats up people for not playing the SEGA Saturn in Japan and sacrificing his life to protect us from a evil gaming company, Hiroshi Fujioka aka Segata Sanshiro. Judging from the Google translation, the event will focus on the aspects of Segata Sanshiro and new music played by the SEGA Sound Unit Band. The event will be held at TV Tokyo Center and stream live on March 16, 2013 19:30 (Sat. JPT). Read more of the this story to read the summary of the event, pictures and links to the live stream.

Edge Online wants a western release for Yakuza 5

original
Guess what? We agree with them. They did a pretty sweet article titled ‘Yakuza 5 and why it needs a western release.

“Nagoshi’s housewarming is in full swing in Japan, and it’s high time the rest of the world gatecrashed the party.”

Usually I would love for the game to get a box release, but seeing as One Piece and a few other games have profited by digital only releases, I wouldn’t mind that as long as I get to play it in English. What about you?

Did you know the Gamecube version of F-Zero GX contains the full arcade release?

First lets talk about why F-Zero GX news is posted on a SEGA blog, if you didn’t already know the game was developed by Amusement Vision (SEGA AM4) the guys that did games like Super Monkey Ball and later Yakuza series. Did you also know that F-Zero GX used the Super Monkey Ball engine?

F-Zero AX is the name of the arcade version of the game, which was developed along side F-Zero GX for GameCube.  Well, it happens that the full arcade version was hidden away on the Gamecube disc of F-Zero GX and if you have an Action Reply or Gameshark, you could online the game. You have to check out the Retro Collection lists of codes, that will get you started. Though as pointed out by some YouTube comments, there are subtle differences from the arcade version. Probably never completed and was scrapped as an unlockable?

Tails Adventure and Crystal Warriors rated by the Australian Rating Board

TailsAdventure

Seems that Tails Adventure and Crystal Warriors could be heading to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console shop soon over in Australia. The Australian Rating Board has recently put a rating on both Game Gear titles, the rating states that SEGA Europe is the publisher.

It is awesome to see more Game Gear games are making it on the 3DS, since it was one of my favorite handhelds growing up.

Sonic Dash releases to iOS, Android version to come

SEGA has created a snazzy release day trailer for Sonic Dash, now available for iOS devices, and has also revealed that an Android version is on the way. According to the “Upcoming Games” section on SEGA’s website, Android is listed alongside iOS devices. Having played a half hour of the game, I have to say that it is a lot of fun! Sure the game would have probably never existed had Temple Run not been a hit, but it wouldn’t be fair to call Sonic Dash a complete rip-off. While Temple Run does predate Sonic Dash, games like Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Secret Rings, and Sonic and the Black Knight in turn predate Temple Run. Share your thoughts on the mobile game in our dedicated forum topic.

After the break, check out a gallery of images showcasing the other characters available in the game. No, Shadow is not yet playable. Sorry.

In Japan, Domino’s Pizza wants you to “Have fun with Hatsune Miku”

I’ve heard of “singing for your supper”, but this is ridiculous.

In a cross promotion that’s pretty clever and cool if not a bit weird, Domino’s pizza has an iPhone app in Japan that lets you make your own vocaloid music that Hatsune Miku can sing. In fact, with the app you can have her do a live (as “live” as she is anyway) performance on your pizza box.Can you even take pictures of her that are both life-sized or tiny. What’s really weird is that most of the commercial is in English with American Dominoes president Scott… somebody or other hosting the ad and putting on the most hilariously awkward performance I’ve seen.

My Life with SEGA suffers head Troma while playing Toxic Crusaders

In this “classic” episode of My Life with SEGA, I revisit the Toxic Crusaders for the SEGA Genesis. Hey, the Toxic Crusaders? Yeah, I’m talking about the video game based on the animated series, which was adapted from Troma’s hyper-violent action/horror film franchise featuring everyone’s favorite environmentally-conscious super hero; the Toxic Avenger!

A video game based on a failed cartoon based on an hyper-violent movie series…. yeah, this has to be awesome!
