SEGA announces Valkyria: Azure Revolution and Valkyria Chronicles Remastered for Playstation 4

Valkyria_Chronicles-1

The rumors were true! The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed the fourth title in the Valkyria Chronicles series, Valkyria: Azure Revolution, as well as a remastered release of the original Valkyria Chronicles – both for the Playstation 4.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution is said to be set in world of industrial revolution, achieved by the Rus Empire thanks to the discovery of a mineral called Ragnite (sounds a bit like the world of GunValkyrie). Imperial expansion has led to the blockage of Jutland, which is described as a country fighting for “independence and freedom”. The game’s main character is a commanding officer in the Judland Kingom’s Anti-Valkyria Unit. Other characters include Ophelia, princess of Jutland, and Brynhildr, a Valkyria who has sided with the Rus Empire.

The game will feature “LeGION” battle mechanics which is described as a real-time system with simulation elements. Multiple characters may also be able to act simultaneously.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will be developed by Media Vision, the same team behind Valkyria Chronicles 3 for PSP. The game will release in 2016 in Japan, and a demo will be included with Valkyria Chronicles Remaster which is slated to hit the PS4 on February 10th in Japan. The remaster is said to feature improved visuals, DLC, and trophy support. No word yet on a US release, but given this is a console title and the PC rerelease sold so well, SEGA West would be wise to localize this.

How would the PC version doing well prompt Sega to do localization? Its not like the Steam users who downloaded the re-release were PS4 owners.

Also, it was filed in JTO only. Localization is highly unlikely.
