Two more Game Gear RPG’s rated for 3DS E-Shop

Hajya pal! Once again, the Australian ratings board is leaking out more Game Gear info. Two more Game Gear games have been leaked by being rated for the 3DS Virtual Console and this time it’s some serious RPG fanservice! Defenders of Oasis, an old-school traditional 8-Bit RPG done in the One Thousand and One Nights style and Shining Force: Sword of Hajya, another in the line of fan-favorite tactical RPG’s. Both should hopefully be out later this year.

Insert Coin to add new Sega line of clothing

UK based clothing company Insert Coin is adding more Sega franchises to their Sonic line of clothing. This includes such games as Shemue, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage and Jet Set Radio.

All of these games are very special to us and so it is fantastic to be able to honour them with some slick new tees and hoodies – and hopefully we’ll be able to show you what we have planned very soon!

Phantasy Star Online 2 Will Be Free To Play and on Smartphones

Sega of Japan revealed today that Phantasy Star Online 2 will not only arrive on PC, Vita and smartphone (iOS/Android) devices, but will be based on the free-to-play model of MMO’s. The PC and Vita versions will be similar and offer cross platform gameplay while the smartphone versions will be a simpler, more “personal” version of the game. The PC version will release in Japan this summer with the smartphone versions this winter and the Vita version in spring 2013.

No word yet if the game will see HD console release in the future.

Bayonetta to appear in Anarchy Reigns

Need a bigger incentive to buy the upcoming Anarchy Reigns? How about everyone’s favorite witch, Bayonetta! Currently, Bayonetta will be available as a playable character through pre-order in Japan. It’s unknown if that same option will be available here in the states, but I doubt Sega would let this pass by.

Anarchy Reigns will be available in July.

Update: Added a scan, thanks Pao!

Game Gear games are now on your 3DS

Your Game Gear library restarts now with Sonic Triple Trouble, Shinobi and Dragon Crystal available now on your 3DS. Each priced diffrently (most likely based on probable demand), these games will bring back memories from back in the 90’s. Only this time you don’t need to bring fresh batteries with you when the system drains of power in 2 hours. These games also get a really cool new screen feature. You can have the original blur from the Game Gear system (Why?), have dot-by-dot resolution with a smaller screen showing the GG system on the sides, stretch out the image to fit your widescreen, or just have a standard 4:3 mode. Also, you can now save your game at anytime using restore mode. Let’s look at the game line up shall we?

Sonic Universe #38 Preview

Segabits is would like to announce that we will now be doing preview and reviews of the Sonic comics. First up is a five page preview of Sonic Universe #38 (available in comic stores next week.) The second part of the “Scrambled” arc show that rotten Eggman invading Station Square with some Eggman-looking At-Ats just to get at the traitorous Snivley who has escaped from the Eggman empire to plead with his niece Hope. Meanwhile Omega and an entire army are fighting the invasion while Shadow and Rouge protect the president. (What a lousy way to keep those two out of the fight! I’m not much of a Shadow fan, but having him fight Eggman’s army would give this issue some great action.) Anyway, hit the jump for the full preview of this hard-boiled (Get it?) tale of treachery.

Sonic Talk #4: Episode 2

Here it is folks! Only our fourth show in and we got our first big guest. Sonic 4 Brand Manager, Ken Balough! He’ll be answering some of your concerns about the upcoming Sonic 4: Episode 2.

But that won’t be until the middle of the show. In the meantime, Nuckles 87 and I are joined by GX Echidna and nSega54 to talk about what small news we have on the upcoming Game Gear games for 3DS, our favorite Archie Sonic artists, what Sonic would look like if he was drawn by slices of pizza instead of artists, and, after the interview, we talk about the Sonic Advance series. Read on to leave a comment or see our show notes.

Sonic 4’s physics finally fixed? “Affirmative”* bellows Balough!

Tomorrow will be the release of Sonic Talk: Episode 4. In it, we interview Ken Balough about all things Sonic 4:Episode 2. One thing that’s been discussed in other forums and kinda revealed lately is how the physics are shaping up and it’s all true. Here’s what Ken had to say on the new and improved Sonic 4-2 physics.

“You’ll notice the changes right from the get-go. We took fan feedback and made sure he doesn’t uncurl. So now when he rolls up those hills, he’ll stay in ball-attack form. The other thing was to start having the game have more momentum style physics similar to the Genesis. In act 2 of Silvania Castle, it starts off at a big hill. So if you just put Sonic towards the edge and have him tuck and roll (not spindash) and let him roll naturally, you can put your controller down because not only will he roll down that hill, but he’ll actually pick up speed and roll off a ramp (for example) and have it similar in essence to the way it was on the Genesis.”

Check out Sonic Talk 4:Episode 2 tomorrow to find out more on the physics, how Sonic CD is now embedded into Sonic 4 and the Genesis trilogy, what kind of adaption will be in the Archie magazine, which versions have “transfarring” and much more right here on SEGAbits!

*= He didn’t exactly say “affirmative”. It just sounds good in the header.

Two more Sonic Game Gear games for 3DS inclu-DEAR GOD NO!!!

What?! I don’t und-…wh-WHY?!!

Okay, before I freak out some more, let me clarify. The Australian Clarifications Board has rated Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth (the game that most people see as the WORST Sonic game of all time) for the 3DS Virtual Console. Now, I can’t say much about Sonic Blast because I haven’t played it. But from video I’ve seen and reviews it’s gotten it doesn’t look too hot. Then there’s Sonic Labyrinth. A game where Dr. Robotnik’s big idea to stop Sonic…is to steal his shoes. It’s the Sonic game where Sonic is SLOOOOW! Sega, these are the kind of Sonic games you bury like E.T. carts and never mention again. It’s the equivalent of Nintendo putting those horrible CDi games on the Wii. These kind of games only hurt his reputation and give the haters more fuel.

Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth should be available later this year on the 3DS Virtual Console for the morbidly curious.

Sonic Talk #3: EVERYBODY PANIC!

Does Sega have a new game coming?…Hell Yeah!

Today, Sega announces “Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit” a new downloadable game from Arkedo Studios, the developers behind Big Bang Mini and Nervous Brickdown. The game looks to be a heavily (but comically) violent 2-D action game set in the depths of hell. Drag your mouse over to read more about this game and see an ultra violent trailer. “The rabbit is coming! You better start running!”

Enter to win a chance for 40,000 MS points just for watching a Binary Domain trailer.

That’s a lot of points!

For those worried about the promotional campaign on Binary Domain, check out your Xbox Live dashboard. Over in “games” there should be a small trailer ad for Binary Domain. Click on that, and you’ll be taken to a promotional page. Here, you can watch videos, checkout some screenshots or go to the Binary Domain marketplace to download the demo and maybe some future DLC. However, there’s one special trailer you can watch and register to win up to 40,000 MS points! That can buy a lot of games. Check it out on your Xbox 360 and enter to win. This may be an American promotion only. I’m not sure.

See? There’s at least SOME Binary Domain advertising promotions going on.

Hello fellow Vita owners and congrats on your purchase! Now, if you’re a Sega fanboy like me, you may be dissapointed in the selection of Sega games available for PSP through the Vita store. There’s Crush for $4.99 and nothing else. You’re probably thinking “Is that all of the PSP games compatible with my Vita?” Well, the answer is…no! There are a ton more PSP games that work with the Vita that for some reason are not on their store. This includes almost all Sega PSP games with one huge exception. Keep reading to find out how!
