Angry Joe’s Top 10 Reasons Aliens: CM Will Kick Ass!

Me and Nux are big fans of internet celebrity Angry Joe and his video reviews. I even got to meet him at E3 2 years ago. It looks like he’s just as excited for Aliens: Colonial Marines as we are. Here, he gives a top ten list of things he’s most excited for in this upcoming release. It feels a bit stretched with some of the reasons, but it shows his enthusiasm for the upcoming release. Check it out.

RUMOR: SEGA to announce new Sonic game very soon

While we don’t normally post rumors very often, today seems to be the exception. Earlier today, The Sonic Stadium reported that an inside source has revealed some details on the next Sonic game. The game is due this fall on pretty much all current gen systems including portables (not smartphones/tablets as of yet), PC and “Next Gen” systems. The reveal may be as early as “Hedgehog Day” Febuary 2nd. Normally I’d say take this with a grain of salt, but Sonic Stadium rarely reports any rumors unless they have a really good source behind them. Read on for more details.

RUMOR: Sega looking to buy Relic

Interesting news coming out of the THQ bankruptcy. Apparently, they are selling their properties and developers piecemeal to the highest bidders. According to a Twitter post from Insidegaming, Sega appears to be the highest bidder on Relic Studios. If you don’t know Relic, they do the popular Warhammer, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War franchises. If this deal goes through, I imagine Sega will use them to boost their PC profile. We should find out soon enough if this deal is actually happening, but so far All signs point to “yes”. Stay tuned.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed PC gets 3 new racers, including a Team Fortress trio

Looks like the rumors are true! Today Sega announced that the PC version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will receive three additional racers. The manager from Football Manager, a Shogun from the Total War and last but definitely not least, a trio from Team Fortress 2! This includes Heavy in boat form, Pyro in car form and Spy in plane form.

Sonic and All-Stars Racing PC version will release digitally on January 31st for £19.99/$29.99USD/€24.99.

Platinum Games shows off it’s 2013 lineup

Today, Platinum Games showed off their 2013 line up in a trailer also highlighting their best games of the past. Yea, yea. Only a few of these games are Sega related and even then, published by Nintendo, but I’ve loved Platinum Games ever since their move to Sega. Even if they seem to be moving away from them now. Just look at all that onscreen action! If you are a fan of high intensity action games, pick up Vanquish, pick up Bayonetta and by all means, pick up Anarchy Reigns which is out today for $29.99! Sega affiliated or no, Platinum games is awesome!

Sonic Talk 16 “2012: We were warned” (about nuckles87’s swearing)

[Download]

We have a great show in this week’s Sonic Talk. Not only does GX Echidna return, but he brings Evil Dr. Reef with him. It’s a Sonic Talk/Spindash combo! We skip the news and head straight into our 2012 retrospective of all things Sonic. While there wasn’t a major Sonic title out this year, there was still plenty to satisfy fans of the blue blur. We’ll look back at Sonic 4-2, Sonic Jump and of course Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Then, we’ll be heading into Comic Talk where we’ll discuss this past year’s storylines and the impact the Penders case is now having on the book. Then, we end the show with our 2013 predictions. Read on for show notes or to comment in the thread.

Warning to the kiddies, this one’s uncensored so any naughty words are staying in.

Sonic Jump is now free on iOS devices (limited time only)

UPDATE: Game is free until New Years. Hey! Don’t blame me. I got this info from other Sega/Sonic sites that never mentioned “limited time” either. XP

For those who haven’t “jumped” at the chance to buy Sonic’s latest mobile game, now’s the best time! Sonic Jump on iOS devices has gone free to play for a limited time only. Does this mean the game is doing so bad, they have to give it away? Nah, more likely, the in-game app purchases are doing so well they can make more money by making the game free and bringing in more players. With tons of missions, levels and more and more characters to unlock each month, it’s hard to resist the allure of buying more rings and power-ups. In fact, I recommend picking up the 2X rings power up to collect rings twice as fast.

BTW, with the game constanly improving and adding more levels, should I change my original review, or leave it as the way it was at the time? Let me know in the comments.

Our Christmas Card to Sega

Hey folks! Since Sega was kind enough to send out their own Christmas card, I thought I’d send one out to them. Our main artist Jet at E.C.C. Comics (Sonic Eggs, Horse Power) worked for a long time on this piece, including a good chunk of Christmas day. Hope Sega and you guys like it!

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U patch finally arrives

For the past two weeks, gamers and SEGA fans have been plagued with a broken All-Stars Racing game on Wii U thanks to Nintendo’s forced patch to make the game online playable (which every launch game had to have). It broke what was working fine (I played it pre-update) and caused problems with boost challenges, getting the final racer in “World Tour” and heavily affected online arena matches causing them to crash. It even effected my review grade for the WiiU version of the game. Sumo Digital sent out a patch last week and it has finally been approved in the U.S. After playing some online and local, plus checking other forums, I have found out that not only are the boost challenges fixed, but online arenas work fine now and there’s been a bit of a boost in frame rate in some areas, especially local split screen. If there’s still some bugs, I’ll update on it later. Now, time to test this bad boy out and change my grade.

Review: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3 & Wii U)

UPDATE: Patch is in, so the WiiU score will be changed.

Last year, SEGA released Sonic Generations. A celebration of Sonic’s history showcasing some of the greatest parts of Sonic’s past and being a celebration of all things Sonic in general. It gave you a strong feeling of nostalgia while offering new kinds of gameplay and a great, remixed soundtrack.

This year, SEGA releases Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. A game showcasing and glorifying the greatest parts of SEGA past and being a celebration of all things SEGA in general. It gives you a strong feeling of Nostalgia while offering new kinds of gameplay and a great, remixed soundtrack. Deja-Vu!

But does this game hold up to 2010’s offering? And how does the Wii U version compare to the others? I’ll be going  in depth about the game and discussing its greatest strengths and weaknesses. Is it a champion or does it stall out the gate? Get Ready. 3…..2…..1…..GO!

Sega finally announces the AM2 collection for LIVE/PSN in America and Europe

‘Bout time! (Sorry George, I stole your joke.)

If anyone was still wondering when the first half of the AM2 collection was coming out, wonder no more. Sega has finally announced the American and Europe release dates for Virtua fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters. This trio of powerful polygon punchers will arrive in North America on 11/27 (PSN) and Europe on 11/28 (360). Europe will receive the PSN version on 12/5. The games will be a mere $4.99 (NA) or 4.49 (Europe) each. Click below to read the full press release.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U day-one patch predicament

UPDATE 2: Nuckles87 here. I’ve finally gotten to what I believe is the fourth and last boost challenge of the main career mode, and the glitch is preset in that one two. This means that 3 of the 4 are affected.

UPDATE: Nuckles87 Says that this only affects the first two boost challenges.

New Wii U owners may not want to update too fast. It seems Sega’s first patch for Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed has a glitch in it that stops all boost challenges from having checkpoints. Leaving you with no other choice but to fail the mission, which leaves you stuck. However, there are some ways around it.

Play while it’s updating and finish the challenge. There’s no guarantee that there won’t be another glitched challenge, but it will get you past that. Editor Nuckles87 has discovered that if you fail the mission four times on easy, it will let you pass to the next challenge.

If you just got your brand new Wii U, I’d recommend holding off on doing the system update until this game breaking issue gets a new patch of its own.

Sonic Talk 14: “Heathcliff and Felix All Stars Podcasting Transformed”

An early show this week as we are just two days away from the release of Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed! With that in mind, I talked to Brand Manager Aaron Webber with some final questions on the game that I didn’t get to ask Steve Lycett. I also talk with him about Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz on the Vita and the upcoming Anarchy Reigns. We have a shorter show this week due to everyone’s schedule, but Alex, GX and I still get in some chat about Paper Mario Sticker Star, The sonic Super Digest book and veer off topic on Felix the Cat and Heathcliff for some crazy reason (Which drives GX nuts).
