LEGO & SEGA Releasing SEGA Genesis Console on June 1

SEGA and LEGO announced the new SEGA Genesis Console, which will be available for purchase on June 1, 2026, for $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99. The model is inspired by and pays homage to SEGA’s original gaming console, an icon for gamers worldwide.

Bringing together the best of creativity and a love for retro gaming, this 479-piece display model allows builders to customise their creation into either the SEGA Genesis or SEGA Mega Drive version, complete with detachable controllers and decorative stickers.

Sonic Teams Up With McLaren Racing for High-Speed Miami Fan Event

Fans of McLaren Racing and Sonic the Hedgehog are getting a high-speed crossover this week as SEGA heads to Miami for the McLaren Racing Live: Miami celebration. From April 29 through May 3, fans can visit Regatta Harbor to experience a special Sonic-themed activation alongside live race broadcasts throughout the weekend.

The interactive fan experience will feature a variety of activities, including photo opportunities, mascot appearances, exclusive merchandise, and more. Fans who can’t make it to Miami will also be able to join the fun through a special Sonic Rumble Party collaboration event tied to McLaren Racing.

One of the featured attractions is the “Sonic Speed Trap,” where attendees can race down a track to see if they have what it takes to match Sonic’s speed. After crossing the finish line, participants will receive a custom photo capturing their “supersonic blur” moment.

Fans will also have the chance to meet Sonic himself alongside Tails, who will be making his first public mascot appearance at the event. Both characters will be available throughout the five-day celebration for meet-and-greets and photo opportunities.

Meanwhile, players of Sonic Rumble can take part in the Sonic Rumble Party x McLaren Racing Mission Event running from April 28 through May 13. During the collaboration, players can unlock a special McLaren Racing Sonic skin along with themed decals, logo plates, and other in-game items.

The McLaren Racing Live: Miami event is free and open to the public.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Free Captain Majima Content Drop Available on April 29

Today, SEGA officially announced that the free Captain Majima content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:00 PM PT. Players will be able to compete for first place as Captain Majima! Starting Thursday, April 30 at 5:00 PM PT and until Sunday, May 3, 4:59 PM PT fans can jump in and earn festival points for decals, gadgets and more! The free Captain Majima Content Drop includes the following:

  • Goro Majima (Captain Majima) as a playable character
  • Goro Majima (Captain Majima)’s vehicle, the Goromaru
  • Special emotes and sounds

Additionally, new players can get in on the action during the Sonic Racing: CrossWorld’s Steam Free Weekend starting on Thursday, April 30 at 10:00 AM PT through Monday, May 4 10:00 AM PT. Sonic Racing: CrossWorld’s will also be featured in SEGA’s Steam Golden Week Sale from Thursday, April 23 at 10:00 AM PT through Thursday, May 7 at 10:00 AM PT, where racers can pick up the title at 40% off.

Players who own either the Standard (physical or digital) or Digital Deluxe versions of the game will automatically receive the free Captain Majima Content Drop. Please ensure that the game is updated to the latest version for the content to be downloaded properly.

SEGA Launches “SEGA Universe” to Spotlight Legacy IPs and Anniversaries through various projects

SEGA has launched a brand-new initiative project called “SEGA Universe“ to celebrate anniversaries of certain legacy IPs with new various projects down the line such as OutRun, Streets of Rage, NiGHTS into Dreams, Sakura Wars and many more. SEGA Universe is a project based on the concept of “NO OLD, STAY GOLD” that are still loved by fans. SEGA plans to focus on titles that will celebrate their anniversary in 2026 and will develop an anniversary project and deliver nostalgic yet new entertainment content.

Judging from the newly released concept movie trailer, some spotted hints of possible merchandise tied to NiGHTS into Dreams and Sakura Wars might be in the works. With the official site now live and more details rolling out, it’s clear SEGA is gearing up for a full celebration for its legacy IPs. Ecco the Dolphin: Complete compilation announced – Features all versions of the first two games!

A&R Atelier has announced a new compilation of a beloved SEGA Genesis franchise!

Ecco the Dolphin: Complete will contain all versions of Ecco the Dolphin and the sequel Ecco: The Tides of Time from the Master System and Game Gear to the Genesis/Mega Drive to the SEGA CD. The release is intended to ease new fans into a “brand-new contemporary game built for the modern era”. Presumably, this new game will be included in the compilation but we have reached out to the developer to confirm. The EccoTheDolphon.com website should provide more details later today, and we will update this article once they do. In the meantime, after the break read the full press release!

SEGA officially released the free Angry Birds content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds! Players can now fly high around the track as Red. Starting tomorrow Thursday, April 16 at 5:00 PM PT and until Sunday, April 19, 4:59 PM PT fans can jump in and earn festival points for decals, gadgets and more! The free Angry Birds Content Drop includes the following:

  • Red from Angry Birds as a playable character
  • Red’s vehicle, the Super Roaster
  • Special emotes and sounds, including 3 new songs added to the Jukebox:
  • “Go! Theme”

Mega Man and Proto Man Arrives in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Today!

SEGA officially released the Mega Man Pack for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds! Players can now race as the titular Mega Man or Proto Man inspired by the iconic video game franchise. The Mega Man Pack includes the following:

  • Mega Man and Proto Man as playable characters

  • The Rush Roadstar Vehicle

  • Mega Man Wily Castle Course

  • New Mega Man-inspired Music Tracks:

    • Wily Castle

    • Mega Man Character Select

    • Mega Man: Result

  • Six different emotes per character

Players who own the Digital Deluxe Edition will automatically receive the Mega Man Pack as part of the Season Pass. For those who want to take part in the Mega Man action, the entire Season Pass is separately available for $29.99 USD, which includes access to even more exciting characters, vehicles, and courses. Players can also purchase the standalone Mega Man Pack for $5.99 USD.

Players who do not own the Mega Man Pack will still be able to compete online against those who do and will be able to race on the Mega Man course against the Mega Man characters. Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu Live-Action Drama – All Episodes Now Available!

Today, SEGA announced that all three episodes of the live-action drama Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu is now available on the official SEGA YouTube channel. The series is a special collaboration between Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and the creators of the hit Japanese video series Nihon Touitsu, which depicts Japan’s yakuza society.

Originally released exclusively in Japan, the three-episode drama follows the events leading up to the latest release in RGG Studio’s beloved Like a Dragon & Yakuza series Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, which launched on February 12 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

The main cast includes Yasufumi Motomiya (Kazuma Kiryu), Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi (Goro Majima), Kazuhiro Nakaya (Akira Nishikiyama) and Kenji Matsuda (Makoto Date).
