Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX hits North America on August 25th

Dengenki-Bunko-Fighting-Climax-Announce_002
We know that Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX is coming to the west, we know it will be released within the year but what we didn’t know was the exact date. According to GameStop listing the game is set to release on August 25th in North America while only costing $39.99 on the Playstation 3 and $29.99 on the Playstation Vita. Even cooler is that the Vita and Playstation 3 version each have their own cover.

Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX mixes popular Dengeki Bunko Magazine characters with SEGA franchises such as Virtua Fighter and puts them in an all out 2D fighting game assault. Learn more by hitting the jump and reading the product description from SEGA:

Gamestop’s Retro Shop is now open, selling SEGA Genesis and Dreamcast games and consoles

retroconsoles
Gamestop has now launched its Retro Game Shop, where they are planning on selling a wide variety of old school consoles, games and accessories. Sadly only two SEGA consoles made their retro gaming list which are the SEGA Genesis and the SEGA Dreamcast. Not surprising seeing as those two consoles are the most popular SEGA consoles released in America, but makes me a bit sad that the SEGA Saturn and Master System are getting no love.

While the prices might not appeal to frugal game chasing collectors that are looking for the best bargain, it does have some decently priced items like $10 dollar Dreamcast controllers and a few games on both Genesis and Dreamcast for under $10 dollars.

Sadly the site doesn’t say if the games come complete with manual and case, so know that going in. What do you guys think of GameStop selling retro games once more?

Limited edition Persona Q 3DS XL coming exclusively to GameStop

PersonaQ3DS
Seems that being an American isn’t all bad, at least if you want to get your hands on this limited edition GameStop exclusive Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth themed 3DS XL. It will retail for $199.99, hardware only.

Persona Q hits retail on November 25th. Sadly this ‘3DS XL’ isn’t one of the new hardware revision that Nintendo announced, this is the old model and America won’t be seeing the new model till sometime 2015. Its a shame because it makes this purchase less tempting.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd gets pre-order bonuses via Amazon and Gamestop

hatsunemikugamestop
Are you ready to pony up the pre-order cash for the upcoming release of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd and just don’t know if you should pre-order it? Well, it seems that two retailers are having their own exclusive offers, those being Amazon and Gamestop in America.

If you pre-order the game via Amazon you get two extra live songs. No biggie. But if you pre-order the game via Gamestop you get a ‘Americana Module and Character Pack’. This will allow you to dress up your vocaloid in some cute Red, White and Blue outfits. That isn’t all, it also comes with a character pack that includes Akita Neru, Yowane Haku and Kasane Teto.

Personally I hate all this DLC stuff but if you care and want to get the best version with the bonuses get it at Gamestop.

Sonic Boom GameStop US pre-order bonus revealed – an exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog action figure

Bu8FVmdIIAApSzN
SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has revealed that those who pre-order Sonic Boom for either the Wii U or 3DS will receive an exclusive action figure. The figure, released by Tomy, features Sonic Boom‘s Sonic the Hedgehog with a “The Ancients’ Crystal” accessory. I assume the crystal accessory is what makes the figure unique, as we’ve already seen figures of Sonic and other characters on display at SEGA’s E3 booth.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Sonic action figure as a pre-order bonus, as the UK saw a Sonic Colors Colours figure as a pre-order bonus. At the moment, however, the Sonic Boom figure is US only.

Project X Zone Limited Edition version revealed

projectxzone

Did you know if you pre-order Project X Zone, you will get the limited edition version for free? Yep, the first printing run of Project X Zone comes in a neat case, soundtrack, mini-art book, and a mini-poster to hang on your man cave.

Not sure if this is a Gamestop exclusive, but it was the only site that I found the ‘limited edition’ version. Amazon hasn’t even updated the release date (since it was delayed or have box art up).

GameStop posts Aliens: Colonial Marines DLC season pass prices

Sadly SEGA has had a pretty bad history of DLC, sometimes promising that they will release content for a game then hush up after they release a few pieces of content. It seems they will try to fix this issue with Aliens: Colonial Marines by offering season passes priced at $29.99 (this price being 33% off if you buy the four packs they include individually). It is said that these packs will include new “campaign content, additional multiplayer maps, new modes, character customization and more.”

One more tidbit, the season passes are only being posted for the PC version of the game. I’m assuming they will also be released for their console brethren, but who knows. Remember SEGA dropping support for AVP on consoles? Could the console version of this game also be an inferior version? I guess we will find out when it is released.

Project X Zone now available for pre-order at GameStop

On Monday we shared the great news that Project X Zone would be coming West this summer. However, we didn’t know certain details including who was publishing it, how much it would cost, and if the title was to be changed or would remain as is. A pre-order page for the game at GameStop.com, which appeared today, answers those questions. The game will continue to be called Project X Zone, the price is $39.99 and the publisher is Namco Bandai Games America. Also included is a brief description of the game: “This epic crossover title brings together the fiercest and most popular legacy characters from NAMCO BANDAI, SEGA®, and Capcom’s most beloved franchises to create a Strategy-RPG experience that can only be described as the ultimate cross-over title.”

Personally, I’m hoping we get the Special Edition which includes an art book and soundtrack. When further details are known, including a specific release date and potential pre-order bonuses or special editions, we’ll be sure to share the news.

Anarchy Reigns pre-order exclusives revealed

SEGA’s blog has shed more light on the upcoming release of Anarchy Reigns. Pre-order exclusive content has already been confirmed to available in Europe as a ‘Day One’ Edition, and we have now learned that those in the US can get the bonus content by pre-ordering at GameStop. Bonus content includes two multiplayer game modes, Mad Survival and Dogfight, and extra playable character: Bayonetta! After the break, a pair of trailers showing off the bonuses in action.

Rumor: Is Rhythm Thief selling out in North America?

In what looks like happy news for Sega, it appears Rhythm Thief is selling well in the USA and Canada. Mind you, this is going by only a few local incidences. Such as the Player One Podcast’s Greg Stewart mentioning that he could not find a copy at any store near him and that at the time of the recording, amazon.ca was completely sold out with third paty sellers wanting $12 over MSRP.

Well, I did a little digging myself, and it turns out most of the GameStops near me are either sold out or low in stock (mostly low). Also, Amazon.com in the US is completely sold out as well and relying on third party sellers. Keep in mind that it’s highly likely Sega only produced a low supply of the game for N/A retail after seeing how poorly it did in Europe and that’s why we’re seeing these copies run out. Still, it shows a strong demand for the game which is only good news for SoA. Those either on the fence or waiting for a price drop might want to consider picking up a copy sooner than later.

Gamestop’s PowerUp Rewards lets you spend your points on SEGA Genesis games

Hey, do you wish that GameStop still sold retro video games like SEGA Genesis carts? Well, if you are a PowerUp Rewards member you can now spend your points on SEGA Genesis games. Right now they only have Shining In the Darkness and Mortal Kombat. Yes, not the greatest selection, but it’s a good start!

I wasn’t going to post this due to the fact that GameStop sold out of their SEGA Genesis games. But, since they are in such high demand they will most likely get more. If you wondered how the PowerUp Rewards point system works, check out this great blog post on it.

Yakuza: Dead Souls pre-order trailer is all about the American spirit

Who said that the Japanese can’t appreciate bad taste in fashion and being a patriot? Can’t love this country built on freedom? *waves American flag*

In all seriousness, above is the pre-order trailer for Yakuza: Dead Souls. Which happens to be out March 13th, did you know that? I didn’t. Been too busy playing Binary Domain to notice. Pre-order DLC is exclusive to GameStop stores.

Crush3D out tomorrow, exclusively being sold at GameStop

Well, I predicted that this game was going to fail and it seems that SEGA also predicted it. It was supposed to be out this past Tuesday and it went missing in action. Now, all of a sudden SEGA says on twitter (as a reply, mind you) that it’s coming out tomorrow. Wow. No blog post? Press release? Alright.

@ShaunNorton @sega Is Crush 3D a GameStop exclusive now? Also, when is it coming out?

@nron10 @ShaunNorton Out tomorrow exclusively at GameStop for $19.99!

I guess it isn’t all bad, since the game is going to be $19.99 instead of the usual $39.99. At least you save 50%!

Binary Domain gets PowerUp extras if you pre-order

SEGA has announced a new pre-order bonus that will stack with their last pre-order bonus at Gamestop, this one is called the Dan Marshall Pack. This one will give you unique enhancements for the character Dan, including a enhanced Sowsar-17 Smod Type G assault rifle and three bonus skills. Unlike the last pre-order though, you have to be a PowerUp member at Gamestop.

How to get this bonus:

I personally hate in-game pre-order exclusives and now it seems Gamestop is doing pre-order exclusives to Powerup members. Super rage. If you want to pre-order, you can do so here.
