Yakuza 6 demo is out now on Japanese PSN

Yakuza-6Yakuza 6 might be only announced for release in Japan, that doesn’t mean you can’t try it out early. The Yakuza 6 demo is now live on Japanese PSN and if you didn’t know, making a Japanese PSN isn’t that hard. We posted details before on what will be in the Yakuza 6 demo, but you basically get to play the opening chapter in the game and best of all your save file will transfer over if you decide to import the game. Of course the Yakuza 6 demo will also have limited access to play spots.  The Yakuza 6 demo will weigh in at a impressive 33.8 gigabyte. That’s quite the size.

Yakuza 6 hits Japan, exclusively for PlayStation 4 on December 8th. Are you going to give the demo a spin? Let us know what you thought in the comments below!

Famitsu releases 3 new Yakuza 6 videos

Famitsu has posted an article and three new Yakuza 6 videos featuring Series Director Masayoshi Yokoyama giving humorous commentary on the events that unfold. The first two videos are compilations of cutscenes with lots of early plot spoilers, while the third video (above) is a 20 minute romp in Kamurocho’s sandbox. You can find the other two spoilerific videos embedded after the jump.

Latest Yakuza 0 trailer shows off all the fun you can have in 1980s Japan

The Yakuza series handles some pretty heavy themes, and Yakuza 0 will be no different. But that doesn’t mean that the series is all dark and gritty! As evidenced by SEGA’s latest Yakuza 0 trailer, the game will feature many off-the-wall mini-games to distract you. Players will be able to do everything from date, call up girls on the phone, dance, sing, play classic SEGA arcade games like Space Harrier, OutRun and Hang-On, and even bet money on catfights.

If you like the wacky side of SEGA, check this trailer out and don’t forget to pre-order Yakuza 0 for Playstation 4 – the game releases physically and digitally in the Americas and Europe beginning Jan. 24, 2017.

Yakuza 6 demo hits Japanese PSN on November 29

Yakuza-6_2016_10-27-16_031If you have been waiting to play the Yakuza 6 demo before the game hits Japanese retail on December 8th, you are in luck! SEGA has announced that the Yakuza 6 demo will hit Japanese PSN on November 29th! Yeah, it does seem that the free public demo is hitting a bit close to the release date, but this might be normal for the series. We did a post about what content will make it to the Yakuza 6 demo.. The demo will basically allow you to play the first chapter and even carry over your save data to the full game. Play spots are available during the demo, but are you are limited to the ones placed in the first chapter’s area. If you are live outside of Japan and want to try the Yakuza 6 demo, you can always make a Japanese PSN account for free.

Famitsu will also be releasing a article tomorrow, revealing new information on Yakuza 6. If anything noteworthy is shown we will update the blog. I’m pretty excited to finally give Yakuza 6 a try, even if its a demo.  How many of you are going to give Yakuza 6 demo a try? Let us know in the comments below!

Lego Dimensions: Sonic the Hedgehog level pack gameplay footage hits the web

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment producer Doug Heder was on the YouTube Gaming show to reveal some gameplay of the upcoming Lego Dimensions: Sonic the Hedgehog level pack. The show is hosted by Geoff Keighley, who seemed to launch a bunch of questions, most of which we already knew the answers to. We know this show is mean’t to be aimed at more ‘mainstream’ audience,so its nice to see what the level pack has to offer and it having a large exposure. When pressed about more character figures, Doug Heder said there are ‘a lot of unlockable characters’ in the game. Those named here include Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, and Big the Cat. Obviously this isn’t as great as having their own stand alone figure and stories, but who knows about the future.

The producer Doug Heder does say that they put a lot of love and effort into recreating the feel of the game, that Sonic the Hedgehog fans would appreciate it. I have to say they did a great job from what I’m seeing. The Lego Dimensions: Sonic the Hedgehog level pack releases on Novemeber 18th, 2016 and will retail for $29.99 USD. So let us know in the comments, are you excited to play the Lego Dimensions: Sonic the Hedgehog level pack?

Garou: Mark of the Wolves trophies revealed

MarkOfWolvesSNK announced back at this year’s EVO that there was going to be a port of Garou: Mark of the Wolves on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita later this year, but kept silent after due to them supporting King of Fighters XIV. But fret no more, the website PSN Profiles has posted the Garou: Mark of the Wolves trophies early. The Garou: Mark of the Wolves trophies all seem rather easily attainable, the hardest one seems to be a silver trophy that has the player win twenty multiplayer matches in a row (not including invite/ad hoc) which should be quite easy for people that have experience with the game’s mechanics.

Click here to see Garou: Mark of the Wolves trophies

While the Garou: Mark of the Wolves trophies have already been posted online, SNK has been quiet on the release date for the title. All we know is that it is coming out sometime before the end of 2016 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. I won’t be shocked if they show off the game at PlayStation Experience which starts on December 3rd and goes on till the 4th. SNK has also teased a re-releases for Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury for 2017. Is there an old SNK franchises you want to see ported over? Any other console or system not made by Sony you want to see these SNK franchises appear on? Let us know in the comments below!

SEGA releasing a Yakuza 6 demo soon

Yakuza-6_2016_10-27-16_029SEGA has recently announced via a live stream hosted by Famitsu that Yakuza 6 will be getting a playable demo in Japan before its release, which is December 8th. The Yakuza 6 demo allows players to experience the first chapter of the game.

SEGA has also confirmed that the Yakuza 6 demo will be level capped but save data will transfer over to the full game. This is a great way to get into the game early before you purchase Yakuza 6, considering that the first chapter in Yakuza games is always a bit slow. The demo will also allow you to visit all the play spots within the designated areas, which is fantastic because there are plenty of great looking play spots in this game. While the Yakuza 6 demo is only for Japanese audiences, its rather easy to make a Japanese PSN account. Are you guys going to give Yakuza 6 demo a chance?

Yakuza 6 hits Japanese store shelves on December 8th, 2016. While there hasn’t been a western release date for Yakuza 6, the franchise isn’t dead considering we are still getting Yakuza 0 in January 2017. If you want a English release of Yakuza 6, make sure you support the release of Yakuza 0!

SEGA releases 40 minutes of Yakuza 6 gameplay

Want to see more Yakuza 6 gameplay featuring characters like Majima and Saejima? Hit play above and enjoy some new Yakuza 6 gameplay footage as the game prepares to release in Japan on December 8th. SEGA is really pushing this game forward, they even announced a full fledged TV show to promote the release.

In my opinion this Yakuza 6 gameplay footage makes me envious of having to wait and hopefully get a localization in the west. But at least we have Yakuza 0 to tide us over early until next year. Though you have to admit, it sucks being this far behind from the Japanese releases, but what you going to do? At least we are still getting them. What are your thoughts on the Yakuza 6 gameplay that SEGA released?

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone gets rated for Germany

Project-DIVA-Arcade-Future-ToneThe USK, the rating board for Germany has recently revealed that they rated Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone for the PlayStation 4. So what is different from Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone compared to both Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X and Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live that came out earlier this year? Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone is actually a console port of the highly acclaimed Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade, plus other music from previously released game like the Project Mirari series on the Nintendo 3DS. The game was rated USK 6 which means its family friendly but the game is more complex in nature. The listing also says that it was filed by Atlus U.S.A., Inc.

Here is a description of what Hasune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone is via Wikipedia:

“SEGA announced that the company was porting Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone to the PlayStation 4 under the title Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone. On May 27, 2016, a new trailer was released on the official YouTube channel of the series, which announced that there will be two versions of the game, Future Sound and Colorful Tone. Future Sound includes 127 songs from the Project DIVA series, while 95 songs from the Arcade and Project mirai series can be played in Colorful Tone. In total, over 340 outfits can be unlocked across both versions. The games support a screen resolution of 1080p at a refresh rate of 60 frames per second.”

I’m hoping that SEGA West decides to release both ‘Future Sound’ and ‘Colorful Tone’ as one package because I feel like having four different Hatsune Miku releases, all on PlayStation 4, during the same calendar year is a bit much but I have a feeling this is only Future Sound. Again this is only for the German rating, but let’s be honest, this pretty much confirms that the game is coming out. Right?

New Yakuza 6 kitten feeding gameplay reminds us of Shenmue

SEGA recently held another NicoNico Live Stream with Yakuza 6 producer Toshihiro Nagoshi showing off new game activities in Yakuza 6. These activities included playing with cats, spearfishing and even taking cute selfies.

These videos even show gameplay in the new town of Onimichi Jingaicho, which is always nice to see a new place in scenery. Yakuza 6 is shaping up to be the best yet, but it seems we say that every time a new one is coming out. The game launches in Japan on December 8, 2016 only on PlayStation 4. It is even getting its own PlayStation 4 model! No Western release has been announced yet. Hit the jump to see another Yakuza 6 video.

See the new Sonic Mania stage Mirage Saloon Zone and Tails & Knuckles in action

SEGA has granted YouTube channel Kinda Funny Games the exclusive reveal of a new Sonic Mania stage, Mirage Saloon Zone, as well as our first look at Tails and Knuckles in action as well as the Sonic & Tails mode. Interestingly, the new zone is very reminiscent of Desert Dazzle, a scrapped original zone that Taxman had planned to include in the remaster of Sonic CD. There are several easter eggs and fun visuals that can be spotted in the new zone, including a Fang the Sniper wanted poster and pinball flippers that resemble bird heads. We also get a look at the CRT filter which, to be honest, I’m not that big a fan of.

Give the video a watch and in the comments below, sound off on the new zone!

The SEGA Five: SEGA published games that deserve more attention

spy-fiction-02a
If you discuss Streets of Rage, Super Monkey Ball, or even anything Sonic, chances are you can hear that 90’s jingle of retro goodness (SEGAAAAAAAAAAA!). The company helped create some wonderful games and franchises and are still going strong to this day. That being said, most of the games published by SEGA are sometimes often forgot about and usually sit on store shelves to collect dust and/or be pauper’s pennies.

While I haven’t played every single game SEGA has helped publish, some of those games stick out to me in a very unique and interesting way. And SEGA, being the quirky company they are, brought me wonderful memories and breathes a one-of-a-kind charm to those certain games. So in no particular order (with the first one being my favorite out of the five), here are some games that rightfully deserve more attention than they get!

SEGA planning a third Valkyria: Azure Revolution demo

ValkyriaAzurreRevolutionSEGA is readying itself to release Valkyria: Azure Revolution in Japan. They already released one demo in earlier this year and had the second demo with the latest build at Tokyo Game Show 2016 (where we posted up a hands-on impressions of the game). Unsurprisingly lots of fans have had nothing but negative things to say about the latest demo (including our preview), which was given limited access by SEGA. Well, soon anyone with a Japanese PSN account will be able to try Valkyria: Azure Revolution, at least when the third demo is released:

“We released Ver. 2.0 of the Battle Demo the other day, and starting next week we’ll be holding hands-on experience events across the country. In the future, we’re planning to provide one more, additional demo. At that time, we’re planning for everyone to be able to enjoy it, rather than just a limited amount of users.” – Youichi Shimosato, Valkyria: Azure Revolution producer

But I wouldn’t be expecting major changes, even though they did state that they changed the game due to fan feedback a lot of the issues users had with the first battle demo are still present in the 2nd demo and from what Valkyria: Azure Revolution‘s producer is saying it doesn’t sound like much will change with the latest demo:

“We’re putting in all the elements that should be included, leaving only minor adjustments and bug fixes after.” – Youichi Shimosato, Valkyria: Azure Revolution producer

Valkyria: Azure Revolution hits Japanese store shelves on January 19, 2017 only on PlayStation 4. No western release date has been announced but little birds told me that SEGA Japan did hand out English ‘how to play’ cards at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 for Valkyria: Azure Revolution and Puyo Puyo Chronicle, so anything is possible. But would you be interested in purchasing Valkyria: Azure Revolution if it comes over?

Yakuza 6 promises full-fledged baseball team building simulation

Yakuza6Baseball (2)Just revealed in the latest issue Famitsu Weekly that Yakuza 6 will have a Baseball manager play spot. It seems that Yakuza 6 won’t just let you play in a Baseball team, but will also make you the manager allowing you to collect players, train, organize the team and much more. The team that you manage is called teh ‘Setouchi Warriors’. Yakuza 6 promises to have a ‘full-fledged Baseball team building simulation’ built into the play spot.

Crazy how much stuff the Yakuza 6 team have packed into the game, since they revealed last month that a full version of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, along with online play would be part of the package. If you want SEGA to bring Yakuza 6 to the west, make sure to pick up a copy of Yakuza 0 (which got a day one edition with free goodies).
