Valkyria Chronicles 3 DLC gets first episode details

Valkyria Chronicles 2 came out and its DLC was only extra missions. Not bad, but users missed the DLC experience they had with Valkyria Chronicles (PS3). Thankfully for you, Valkyria Chronicles 3 will bring back the ‘episode’ format.

Episode one will be called “The Restless,” which fallows Nameless leader Kurt and Imca. The episode will feature missions, cutscenes and awkward interactions between both characters. Even has a new sword to unlock. New episodes will be priced at 600 yen ($7), the first one (The Restless) coming out February 22nd.

SEGA still plans on selling missions like they did in Valkyria Chronicles 2. The first will be Disciplinary Mission: Block Their Way. This one has players stopping an army using anti-tank weapons, with a reward of a boost evasion blue ribbon if you succeed. Missions cost 200 yen ($2.40).

Yakuza 4 Demo Hits PSN Plus Members

Sega dropped an American demo of Yakuza 4 this past Tuesday only for PSN Plus members. The demo lets you play as Kazuma Kiryu, Masayoshi Tanimura, Shun Akiyama and Taiga Saejima in four different brawls. Sadly, all you do is brawl as all four of them. Unlike the Japanese demo, there is no exploring of any part of the city. If you have a Japanese account, I’d recommend checking out that demo instead.

Yakuza 4 will be released on March 15 in the US and March 18 in Europe. Despite my feelings on the demo, I highly recommend picking the game up, as Yakuza 3 was a masterpiece and this one looks to be even better.

Yakuza 4 gets hostess trailer & demo date

Those people that missed chatting up the hostess girls in Yakuza 3 will be glad to know that they are back for the fourth installment. Don’t believe us? Check out the trailer!

As for the demo, it will hit PSN on February 15th… if you are a Playstation Plus subscriber. For some reason, they thought it was a good thing to make this demo timed exclusive. Rest of us have to wait till February 22nd, a week later.

Multiplayer will support 2 player offline and 2-6 players online. You will be able to purchase it this Spring. More information as it is released.

Sonic 4 premium theme hitting PSN on Janurary 18th

So basically the next PSN store update will include a Sonic 4 premium theme. Premium themes on the PS3 are basically moving themes, they are rather cool, at least some are.

This one will have Sonic in Splash Hill Zone, with Sonic jumping around in the level and then Dr. Robotnik will fly by every now and then. This theme will be FREE if you are a Playstation Plus member (or sign up this month), $2.99 if you aren’t.

Space Channel 5: Part 2 achievements revealed

[Achievement unlock: Super Sexy!]

The guys over at SEGAOnline got their hands on the copy of Space Channel 5 Part 2’s achievements. I assume that the retail collection & PSN version will be exactly the same.

I know that Microsoft has released a disc based compilation of XBLA games and the achievements appear the same as the ‘downloaded’ titles.

Hit the jump to see the list.

Retail Dreamcast collection will pack four games

SEGA have set Feburary 2011 as the date for their ‘Dreamcast Collection’ retail disc. Fans spouted out games they wanted like the usual favorites Shenmue and Jet Set Radio. Sadly, this will not happen, SEGA has confirmed the four games the collection will have.

  • Sonic Adventure
  • Crazy Taxi
  • SEGA Bass Fishing
  • Space Channel 5 part 2

Basically its a compilation of their digital titles they have already announced. Here is something new though, it is also coming to PC, no Playstation 3 version! The press release does not say if Sonic Adventure version will come with the DX downloadable content on disc, my guess is probably not. Hit the jump for the press release.

Official Nintendo Magazine teases sidekick character for Sonic 4: Ep 2

UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine has put up a preview for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. The preview was posted over in the Sonic Stadium forums, no scans as of right now. They did say that one of’ Sonic’s old side kicks will come back, most likely being Tails. But they also said this:

“Other than that, we’d expect more of the same from Episode II. More loops, more speed, more proper old-school Sonic physics and more awesome fake Mega Drive music complete with rubbish drum samples. Just the way we like it.”

Hard for me to take a magazine seriously that thought the first game had ‘proper old-school Sonic physics’. It didn’t. Unless they meant this new one had ‘more proper’ old-school physics, but I doubt that. Word for word preview after the jump.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 anime gets first details

So we posted awhile back how Valkyria Chronicles was going to get 2 OVAs. Well now we are getting all the details. The OVAs will be called “Senjo no Valkyria 3 Tagatame no Juusou” and will be done by A-1 pictures. Nobuhiro Kondo will be the director and Hiroshi Onogi will handle the script.

Not detailed yet, but SEGA is saying there will be some sort of connectivity between the anime and gam. In the official site, game producer Shinji Motoyama said he would like it to be downloadable content.

The videos will be releasing in Sprint 2011, PSN video store will have first dibs.

SEGA MEGA Sale discounts PSN, XBLA & iOS games up to 70% off

SEGA will be having a ‘SEGA MEGA’ sale starting December 21st. They stated that the games will be from XBLA, PSN and of course iOS devices (don’t they always get sales?), discounts will be up to 70%. That is a nice savings

SEGA has 20 games lined up for the holiday sale, but we won’t find out what they are till December 21st. Bummer. Here is a link to their Facebook event for the sale. Sucks, I already own all the titles I want from XBLA/PSN.

Review: Crazy Taxi (PSN)

Crazy Taxi has had lots of ports since it first debuted back in 1999. It has been 10+ years and we have had the franchise appear on Gamecube, Playstation 2, Xbox, PC, and even on the PSP. Now PSN/XBLA will get a port of the first game.

Crazy Taxi trophy syncing issue now fixed

If you picked up Crazy Taxi this week on PSN, you  might have noticed that when you try to sync your trophies it gave you an error (Error Code: 80022a07). I know some people reported the problem to SEGA via their forums.

Well, now its fixed. As you can see above, I synced them correctly. No patch, so I assume it was an issue with Sony’s syncing process and not SEGA. Enjoy.

Crazy Taxi taking fares on PSN/XBLA

Today brought the release of Crazy Taxi on PSN for $9.99 and the game will most likely be out on XBLA (11/17) by the time you read this for 800 points. I have been playing it and the game looks great on widescreen. Plus the PSN version even supports custom soundtracks, comes useful if you want to load up the game’s original soundtrack. All 360 games have custom soundtracks, so that is a guaranteed for that version already.

So who is buying a digital copy of this craaaaaaaaaaazy title?
