Kori over at The Website of the Dead has posted a few concept art pieces. Some of the pieces are pretty awesome, I love concept art like this. Fan favorite Genesis games Toejam and Earl and Toejam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron are now available to download on Steam. These games were actually on Steam before but were taken down, most likely due to copyright issues. The issue first cropped up serval years ago when SEGA had a poll asking fans what Genesis games they wanted released on XBLA. Toejam and Earl took home the trophy but the creator and copyright owner wasn’t so happy to hear about these plans.
Maybe with this release SEGA and Toejam and Earl creator Greg Johnson have settled their dispute. Who knows, we might be seeing more of Toejam and Earl, maybe a guest spot in the next SEGA All-Stars game?
No, I’m not going to start heckling my crap to you guys, plus this isn’t crap. If there are any girlfriends or moms reading this and saying that video games are crap, then this is crap I want. All over me. The collection includes a US Master System with 114 US Master System games. Impressive!

Over at the official SEGA of America forums, a fan brought up the ultimate question. Are we going to suffer through throwbacks the whole time like episode one? Good news, Sonic 4 brand manager Ken Balough says that no, we won’t. He confirms that only one of the zones is a genuine throwback.
Also there is going to be a nice unveiling later this month. Now, he does admit that fans will call anything a throwback, only because it’s a similar environment. Read his full response after the jump.
If you guys didn’t know, I have an addiction to Reddit. Yesterday, Reddit user synbios16 posted his Sonic 2 logo (picture above), he made it out of 24,651 little beads. Just for scale he put one bead on the right and the Sonic 2 cartridge on the left. I have to say, that would look good hanging on any wall.
After SEGA retired the Game Gear in early 1997, they suddenly found themselves on the market for a new handheld to support. That same year SEGA threw its weight behind the Tiger’s Game.com, offering Tiger the licenses to several of its franchises, including Sonic. This deal would give rise to the worst shit SEGA ever slapped its name on. As the Game.com quickly dropped dead at the sight of the Gameboy, SEGA threw its support behind another, much better handheld: SNK’s Neo Geo Pocket Color. This support would only yield one SEGA game in the American market, in the form of Sonic’s last portable adventure before going third party: Sonic Pocket Adventure.

Through the next few years, I would continue to explore the Dreamcast. Starting in 2003 however, my focus began to shift towards the Xbox, as games like Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Splinter Cell blew me away. Even while these new games mesmerized me, I would continue to look for new Dreamcast games to play, trying to find the next gem.
SEGA is going soundtrack re-release crazy in Japan. They already announced both Sonic Adventure soundtracks and also Sonic Heroes’ soundtrack getting a re-release. Now Sonic CD gets its time to shine, only this is not technically a ‘re-release’.
According to TSS, this is the first official release for the Sonic CD. The soundtrack is coming out November 23rd for ¥2400 (about £21 / $32).

Dynamite Deka is a series of beat em up games first introduced to American arcades in the mid-1990s. Renamed “Die Hard Arcade” to capitalize on the success of the movie franchise of the same name, the game was later ported to the SEGA Saturn, and to this day remains the only good 3D brawler to ever make it to the system. Dynamite Deka 2 would later be ported to the Dreamcast some years later, renamed Dynamite Cop. Is this game any good? Read on to find out.

In July, reality finally caught up with me. Something had possessed me to join the SEGA forums. Because I hated being told that my name was already taken, and I figured the Knuckles name must already be taken given he’s such an awesome character, I decided to cut to the chase and just leave the K out of my name. Upon joining the forums, I discovered the Dreamcast had been canned and, being a teenager, I immediately latched on to the first online petition I saw. Those were the days. Keeping a thread ever present at the top of the forum whenever I got home from school or my friend’s house. Arguing with older, wiser, more realistic individuals like the naïve teenager I was, a large part of my Dreamcast experience came from defending it from bashers and supporting a petition that SEGA probably never even saw, let alone cared about.
So now that we have cooled down from all the Dreamcast Anniversary posting, we can look at what some other people have been doing to celebrate Dreamcast’s 12 anniversary. This one comes in from Albert Art:

We all know about Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure, and Jet Set Radio. I don’t think there is a self-respecting SEGA fan alive who doesn’t know what all the best Dreamcast games are. But the Dreamcast’s library is large, and I’ll bet there are five games out there many of you have not played. This list is devoted to those games, the most overlooked awesome games on the Dreamcast!
It has been 12 years since that sweet white dream machine landed on American shores and blew us away with a stellar launch line up. Gaming has changed quite a bit, most of it thanks to stuff started by SEGA with the Dreamcast.
Even though we still get plenty of games, I think we can all agree on one thing; It’s not the same without having a SEGA console. Can you believe that SEGA hasn’t released a console in 12 years? I feel old.

With the news that a downloadable version of Sonic CD would soon be making it’s way to LIVE/PSN, I figured it was as good a time as any to review this “classic” Sonic game. Now, I say classic in quotation marks because frankly, I believe a lot of the praise of this game comes mainly from it’s nostalgia. Most folks remember Sonic CD because of several things. The anime intro/ending, the incredible music and of course, the battle with Metal Sonic. But does anyone remember it for it’s level design? No? There might be a good reason for that. It’s weird seeing Sonic CD announced for a ton of platforms, even one that always gets left out like Android, but not Wiiware. Why is that you ask? It seems that Nintendo has a strict 40mb size limit on files and to port the cd quality sound from Sonic CD, it would have exceed that. Since Nintendo won’t budge, no Sonic CD for Nintendo fans.
Is it just me or is it weird that SEGA has standards for their ports? I mean, if you have seen how they usually treat their Genesis ports, one would think they are just in it for the quick cash.
