Toirettsu! – The game you pee on!

You may remember a good while ago now we reported that Sega was making games that- well, you pee on. The ‘console’ is pretty much a modified urinal, the controller? Your stream!

Sega does what Nintendon’t!

Toirettsu is essentially a mini-games collection, with an alternative control method where wee-waggling is not just accepted but encouraged! Remind you of anything?
In one example the harder you pee the stronger the wind which blows causing an onscreen reporters skirt to lift. Who are the target audience? Potentially every man that ever needed to pee! So forget the ‘Nintendo Wii’ Sega have put their own stamp on casual gaming market which I am dubbing the ‘Sega Wee’.

There is method in the madness; the more pee you get into the urinal the longer you can play which is a good way to deter drunks from peeing elsewhere, such as the floor- or on their shoes. You may laugh but I honestly think it is a brilliant idea, genius in fact. This could pave the way for a whole new era for urination! I honestly wouldn’t expect this kind of thing from any other videogame developer. Sega are like the mad scientists of the industry, sometimes it pays off and other times it fails miserably but I think this time they are onto a winner!

As the game is being rolled out in more and more public places in Japan we have some game play videos directly from Sega and yes- it’s as wacky as it sounds! You can see more videos below.

SEGA posting teaser images online EDIT: Its Yakuza: Dead Souls

SEGA have posted this teaser image on their Facebook account. Many different theories form fans have been shouted, stuff like Shenmue 3 and Dreamcast 2 always making their wonderful return.

So what does it say? According to everyone on Facebook the rough translation is:

“End of that story is no more than a start of the new story”

I asked some of the Japanese community members we have on PSN and haven’t gotten a response. The other two images was one for twitter and one on IGN.

The IGN image says:

“A then so perfect existence, already completely and utterly destroyed”

Edit: According to our Japanese forum member, STORM!, the twitter image says:

“We are going to see that… dead people souls”

Folks, sounds like its a teaser for the reveal of Yakuza: Dead Souls. We already saw this one coming. Thanks SEGA. Also, why did they use the Valkyria Chronicles font?  [/edit]

[Thanks: Roger]

SEGA Stock Closes at Three Year High

Since last year, SEGA’s stock has been on a tear, hitting a new 52 week high seemingly every month. Only the tsunami and subsequent earth quake that rocked Japan was able to slow it down. Well, now it seems that SEGA stock has fully recovered from March’s disaster, as the company reaches a milestone it nearly reached earlier in the year: a $5.99 share price. SEGA is no longer a penny stock, a designation they’ve had since their stock price began to crumble in 2007.

In the past, these surges have been caused by a positive quarterly forecast for SEGA’s earnings. SEGA’s stock price in 2010 was primarily driven by the company constantly beating it’s own expectations several quarters in a row. This summer surge however, happened in spite of SEGA posting a quarterly loss due to weak game sales. In fact, there is no one major financial event that has happened that could possibly lead to this surge. This would seem to indicate that investor confidence with SEGA has continued to soar even despite some recent financial problems.

SEGA’s next quarter report should be coming out within the next month. We’ll be sure to bring it to you!

Today possible new details have emerged in the forum of a list detailing games in development for the PS Vita from various 3rd party publishers has leaked and guess what? Yep, Sega won’t disappoint!

Hit the jump to find out what they are!

The Sega Forums Return

Yep the official Sega forums are finally back online after a very long time, a month maybe? The blog is yet to return but I suspect it’ll soon be up too.

The blog and forum went down after some douche bag hacked into PlaySega and attempted to steal usernames, passwords and other personal information. Luckily Sega were on the ball and had personal information stored as an encrypted code of some kind. As a result of this the forum passwords are no longer linked to the PlaySega accounts so you will need to reset your password before you can post again.

So yeah, go forth and complain about not getting Shenmue 3 and Sonic’s eyes, mouth, spines, colour or shoes.

SEGA hosting EG Expo Indie Arcade event this year

Eurogamer has an expo for up and coming game developers that want to show off their titles. This year, SEGA is going to help throw the event, which means they will have their name plastered all over the place.

Games like Joe Danger and Hohokum have made their public debuts at past events. Submissions for developers who want to show off their games closes on August 19th. So if you are making a game, get to it. SEGA might pick it up if they like it.

The event will be at London’s Earls Court between 22nd and 25th September. You can nab your tickets here.

SEGA and BBC Earth team up to fuse technology and nature

That’s right, SEGA has announced a partnership with BBC Earth to create a unique user experience. Yes, the press release actually calls it an “experience,” and quite a number of times at that. The “experience” will be coming to both the USA and Japan in the next couple of years.

“I am very happy that we have been able to join together with BBC Worldwide who possess one of the world’s finest libraries of Natural History footage. I am confident that by fusing this fabulous content with our entertainment know-how, we can deliver a new and thoroughly unique experience of the natural world. Through the universal theme of nature, SEGA will create a new live entertainment experience that will be enjoyed by all nationalities, ages and genders” said Okitane Usui, SEGA Corporation’s COO.

Where exactly can you experience this collaboration? No locations or solid dates have been set yet, but SEGA says they will be announced in the upcoming months. I personally can’t wait, since I love BBC’s Planet Earth series.

SEGA going to Gamescom this year

SEGA in the last couple of years has not been shy on skipping Gamescom, a European game convention. This year? It seems like they won’t be skipping, since they were listed with publishers attending the event.

What will they be showing? I hope for the press, since most of the ones going from big sites are probably the same guys that went to E3, that they have a new demo level of Sonic Generations. City Escape, please? How about a new level unveil?

Sega Has Been Hacked

As of late yesterday, Sega Pass system on sega.com has been hacked and some info has been leaked. Sega has been taking the necessary precautions and the following E-Mail has been sent out to all who post in the Sega forums.

Sega Announces E3 2011 Line Up

Sega have today announced their E3 2011 line up and it’s pretty packed! With some really exciting games like Binary Domain, Guardian Heroes, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Renegade Ops, Crush3D and Sonic Generations, not to mention Platinum Games’ Anarchy Reigns already announced, is it too much to ask for some surprises too?

I’m still holding out hope for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown to console, Valkyria Chronicles 3 to West and any kind of news on Phantasy Star Online 2!

But with or without those games it’s quite a good line up for new and old Sega fans, hit the jump for the full list. I’m personally very excited about Aliens and Binary Domain!

SegaBits writers Nuckles87 and Shigs will be presant at E3 2011 and reporting feedback on all of these games and more!

SEGA: UK studios are ‘the bedrock of our business’

It’s no secret that Creative Assembly and Sports Interactive are successful studios, but they still seem to surprise SEGA.

“Our UK internal studios are probably the bedrock of our business. For the second year both Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly are outperforming their business plans from a profitability perspective. These guys are on top of the game, it’s a real testimony to the games they make.” – Gary Dunn, SEGA Europe VP of production

If only SEGA could emulate this and get a few good American developers under their belt. SEGA has said they will try to focus on improving SEGA America, we will have to see what they have planned.

Sonic 20th Anniversary – Japanese Commercial

The blue rat’s 20th Anniversary is picking up speed in Japan and Sega have released a commercial to get the ball rolling. The commercial highlights just a few of the promotions for Sonic this year, including a mention of Sonic Colours, Sega’s arcade/theme park Joyopolis (possibly holding some kind of events), Sonic plush UFO catchers and of course Sonic Generations!

Looks like Sega’s going all out for the 20th anniversary of our favourite blue Hedgehog! May it be a good one!
