NG:Dev recently released a new trailer for their upcoming Dreamcast/Neo Geo game, and while its production values may not be much to look at, the actual game play looks pretty damn good. It’s nice to finally have a new shoot em up platformer on the Dreamcast. What do you think of the game? Tells us about it on the forums!

Who says Sonic Team doesn’t have a sense of humor?
Sonic! He can really move….pre-orders that is. Sega has announced today that Sonic Generations has topped all previous Sonic pre-orders to date. Possibly part of the reason for this has been their huge push of this title.
SEGA is proud to announce that Sonic Generations has exceeded all previous pre-order records from the 20 year Sonic catalog. This has made Sonic Generations the most anticipated title in the Sonic the Hedgehog’s iconic history. SEGA has also invested in a number of high-profile brand initiatives surround the anniversary and the games launch.

With the Jurassic Park trilogy releasing on blu-ray this week, I thought it would be a fitting time to highlight a nod to SEGA in the second film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”. An actual SEGA console does not appear, but our beloved gaming company does get a mention in the dialogue. While preparing to leave for another island filled with dinosaurs, Ian Malcolm is trying to persuade his daughter to go and stay with a friend of his. Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to go for a number of reasons, but the main one is that the woman “doesn’t have SEGA”. To quote Muldoon from the first film: “Clever girl.” Interestingly, I did not find this line of dialogue in the film’s script, so it looks like it was something added on the day of shooting. Perhaps Spielberg wanted to infuse a real world issue a kid would have, and staying with somebody who doesn’t have a SEGA is a great reason to not want to go. Perhaps they should get the girl a Game Gear or a Nomad?

Nagoshi had another live event, one which he likes to call “”Nagonama”. This time around he answered some personal questions, along with giving a few new details about the upcoming Yakuza 5.
Retro Sonic fans better enjoy their classic Sonic while they can, because it looks like they won’t be seeing him again, at least not for a while.
“Do you know what? There are no plans, to be brutally honest, to bring Classic Sonic back. The reason for bringing him back for this game was because this is a celebration of 20 years of Sonic. It was a real fitting time to do it. He’s really well loved. Let’s see how Generations does. Personally, I don’t see the point in bringing classic Sonic back after this, at least not until the 25th anniversary. Classic Sonic holds a special place in Sonic history. He is all about the 90s when cute little pudgy animals dominated video games. Let him continue to exist as a part of that era, not this one.
If you buy Overkill Extended Cut from one of your local Gamestops, you will get Altered Beast for free on PSN. That is like, $5 dollar savings. The deal ends on Halloween.
Lets be honest, this is a great excuse to pick up Overkill and play it through on Halloween; obviously after you finish stealing your little brother’s hard earned candy.

This new trailer highlights some of the wacky rhythm based mini games you’ll be playing in Rhythm Thief. These include striking poses to hide from security guards, playing football in the streets of London and biting arses- as a dog.
Rhythm Heaven is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS and is described as a blend of Professor Layton art and storytelling with the game play of Elite Beat Agents, sounds brilliant!

Six days to go until Sonic Generations arrives! In the meantime, enjoy these new screens of the rarely seen Speed Highway while your digital copy of Daytona USA downloads. The screens come courtesy of Famitsu, and show not only the remade Sonic Adventure stage, but also the Sonic and Shadow race plus more screens on the 3DS stage Radical Highway. You’ll note that the above screen seems to be taking place at dawn. Could that mean… at dawn concludes the stage? Also, nearly every Speed Highway screen features a fan service sign somewhere in the background. One screen in particular, you’ll know it when you see it, name drops just about every Sonic character in a cluster of road signs. Pretty funny stuff.

With less than a week to go ’til Sonic Generations, I thought it would be fun to take a leap back and run through the original stages featured in Generations. What made the original stages so memorable? Are they a fitting choice for representation of the game they originally appeared in? Were there better choices that could have been made? Those questions and more will be explored after the break!
Today, Marvel and Sega have shown the trailer for Captain America: Super soldier on the 3DS. Like Thor, the game is a port of the Wii version. If you recall my review, the game’s not too bad and may be worth your time if you’re looking for a decent action/platform game. The game retails for $29.99 and will be available tomorrow, October 25th.

With the release just a week away, early reviews are beginning to roll in for Sonic Generations. Thanks to members of Sonic Stadium’s forums, reviews are being compiled and new details from the game are being revealed. Before we get to the reviews, I thought this was an interesting tidbit: Iizuka revealed at Paris Games Week that the original Sonic the Hedgehog will be an unlockable in Generations. As long as the emulation is perfect, I’m all for adding a ninth copy of the game to my collection.
As for early reviews, the Germans have gotten their hands on the finished game. Videogameszone.de rated the game an 85/100 while the magazine 360 Live rated the game a similar 8.5/10. Very respectable scores! After the break, details from the two reviews.
It is always fun to take a peak at what your favorite developers are looking forward too. Its nice to see what producers, artist and other SEGA employees are all looking forward to.
