NPD: Both Resonance of Fate & Yakuza 3 fail to chart

I’m not shocked that Yakuza 3 didn’t make it into the Top 20 for the month of March. I’m a bit shocked that neither version of Resonance of Fate made it though.

I know, SEGA didn’t really advertise either and they released them in a ‘big month’ , but didn’t even do 100,000 units?  Spin it how you will, but SEGA made a pretty big deal about Resonance of Fate when it was announced.

Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns coming to Wii?

If you don’t know what LA Machineguns and Gunblade NY are, shame on you. They are light gun arcade games by SEGA and according to ESRB, SEGA is planning on bringing them in a collection, much like House of the Dead 2&3 Returns.

from ESRB website:

“This is an arcade-style first-person shooter in which players engage in missions to protect sections of New York and Los Angeles from enemy forces. Players aim targeting crosshairs on dozens of attacking soldiers, robots, missiles, and vehicles that explode when destroyed. Constant gunfire and explosions highlight the frenetic action; zoomed-in camera angles depict multiple projectiles striking the humanoid terrorist enemies.”

The compliation pack is suppose to be called “Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Packand exclusive as of now, for the Nintendo Wii. How about some Virtua Cop love next time?

SEGA-Sammy expecting $194 million profit

SEGA-Sammy have been losing money for a while now and it seems they are finally getting the hang of things. They have posted that they expect to make $194 million dollar profit in the end of this fiscal year.

Things to note, Pachinco & Amusement Machine sales saw an improvement; while Amusement Facilities & Consumer business made less income than they thought it would. As for consumer business (Consoles, etc.) they were expecting  to sell 29.7 million units of software, but that guess has been lowered to 26.3 million units.

What game didn’t hit expectations? It might be Resonance of Fate. What do you guys think?

Top 10 features the next SEGA console should have

Let’s be positive, there will be another SEGA console some day (I hope!) and it will need unique features and even catch up with features to make it stand out against the competition. So if SEGA announced a new console soon, these are the features I think they need to have.

I think I know a ton of you have your own features you would like, so comments are always open.

Football Manager Handheld 2010 coming to iPod touch and iPhone

Football Manager Handheld 2010 will be headed for iPhone and iPod Touch. When is it coming out? According to the developers it should come out in the next 48 hours. What a wait!

SEGA is so serious about the release that they sent out special edition Football Manager Handheld 2010 iPod Touches to reviewers. Hey, I like iPod Touches! If you are a fan, keep an eye out on the iTunes store tonight at midnight.

Alpha Protocol achievements revealed

If you are a achievement/trophy hunter, then you will be thrilled to find out that Alpha Protocol’s achievements are not that hard; at least they don’t seem that hard.

It seems that there are about twenty secret achievements. I assume they are story related and they don’t want to spoil it, seems fair. The trophies are usually the same as achievements, with a Platinum added.

Teaser trailer for Neptune is now up

We reported the other day about how SEGA is teaming up with Compile Hearts to bring forth a new RPG that sounded a lot like Segagaga. Well, their teaser countdown is over and as promised, they have posted a teaser video.

Nothing really big, but it does show you some of the character designs and as expected its your typical characters you see from most JRPGs.

Metal Sonic & Death Egg Zone now on Xbox Live [update]

We know that this DLC for SEGA & Sonic All-Stars Racing came out early on the UK PSN store, that they had to take it down. Now it is up on Xbox Live (Europe) for 800 MS Points. Yes, we know that the DLC was taken off the PSN store, most likely will come out later today for PSN users.

Want to know if the new character and course are worth your hard earned Microsoft Points? Check out someone playing the DLC on the PS3 version above.

[Edit] AAUK is saying that there is a pricing issue with the DLC and not to buy it. I assume it was suppose to be 560 MS Points, not 800 MS Points. [/Edit]

Alpha Protocol – Dev Diary 7

The newest Dev Diary for Alpha Protocol is easily the best yet, it seems as though the graphics have been much improved upon and it shows a lot of interesting gadgets and things you can pull off in game.

Alpha Protocol has been on and off my radar for ages a now but I can safely say this video is the one that has swayed me the most into the ‘WILL BUY’ group.

Yakuza 4 pushes 480,000 units for March

Sales numbers for the month of March are in, Yakuza 4 dominated the competition to become the best selling game for the month, pushing an impressive 480,626 units.

Even though the sales count the whole month of March, Yakuza 4 came out on March 18th, so this is really just half a month of sales. We will have to see if the game has better legs than Yakuza 3. No signs if Yakuza 4 will be heading west, as of yet.

Project Neptune = Segagaga spiritual successor?

[More of this please!]

Compile Heart’s new project is codenamed “Neptune”, which has a teaser on their site and one of those fancy countdown clocks we all learn to loath. Famitsu though, has revealed the full title of the game to be “Choujigen Game Neptune.”

Nothing out of the ordinary or to resemble Segagaga, but the game is an RPG, set in the virtual world of “Game Gyoukai”, which is Japanese for “Game Industry.” The main characters name is Neptune who must stop the evil plot of Goddess Magicon.

Yes, Neptune is based on the name for the SEGA console and SEGA is publishing the game (or handling the sales side of it, according to AndriaSang). Double whammy! It is also confirmed that the game will have cameos by SEGA characters, just like Segagaga. The game will also have mock characters for well known publishers like Capcom and Nippon Ichi.

Oddest part of the whole thing? It is a PS3 exclusive, seems like we have been corrupted by DOGMA! (Segagaga reference)

Top 10 ways to make a good Sonic game

Oh, another site with a top 10 feature? Say it isn’t so? This is actually our first top 10 list. I hope you guys enjoy the read.

I want to state, even though the list is set to ‘improve’ on Sonic Team of today, it is mostly a list of what I think makes a great Sonic game. I know this differs from person to person, so I’m always open to hear your input on the matter and what makes a Sonic game good to you.

SEGAbits .5 and the future

Hello SEGAbytes, is that what we should call you guys? Maybe? Most likely not because it sounds like a cheesy television show from the 90’s. Regardless we have launched a SEGAbits .5, just minor changes behind the scene and the new featured bar (up above). Like always we are open to suggestions.

As for the future, we have some projects we are kicking around that we are not going to reveal just yet. We do however plan to start up weekly features and original content. I will like to thank our incredible community for the support and all you readers for making our launch successful. Yes, today this site turns 2 months old, seems longer doesn’t it?
