New Pier Solar HD trailer arrives – the adventure is coming soon!

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming Pier Solar HD was recently released by Watermelon Games. The game, which is an HD remake of the 2010 SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive indie RPG, is expected to hit Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Sega Dreamcast, Ouya, PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) and Android next month. The game is looking gorgeous, with a new widescreen presentation and updated art. Stay tuned to the trailer until the very end to see the Dreamcast logo among the supported platforms, there’s something special about seeing a SEGA console listed among Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft again.

The game is slated to release next month. In the meantime, stay tuned to the upcoming SEGAbits Swingin’ Report Show podcast in which our special guest is Watermelon Games president Tulio Adriano Cardoso Gonçalves! Have any questions for Tulio? Leave them in the comments section below.

You know you’re right. There is something immensely satisfying in seeing the Dreamcast logo included with the other current/next gen systems/platforms.

This looks really interesting. Some questions if you don’t already have them planned:

Have you played any other games out there recently or in the past couple of years that scratch the same itch as Pier Solar seems to do? Or does the team have some unexpected tastes (all fans of FPSes, etc.)?

Original game development started in 2004 (at least in the stage of formulating ideas), it seems. What was the industry like at this time?

RPGMaker and Gamemaker, software that -does- come with limits compared to construction of one’s own engine, had already been out for a few years by the mid 2000’s – was it always a part of the vision to develop your own game engine?

To what do you feel you owe your success? Reading about the recent closure of Irrational Games, do you feel like your small team size was helpful to development?

    • Great questions! We’ll make sure to ask as many as we can 🙂

      Whatever’s appropriate. =)

Also, this question was worded awkwardly:

“Original game development started in 2004 (at least in the stage of formulating ideas), it seems. What was the industry like at this time? ”

if this one is considered, the idea behind it were thoughts like “how has the market changed?”, “how necessary is marketability to your title?”, and “is the industry easier to break through now or in the past?”
