New Sonic the Hedgehog animated series in the works!

A member of The Sonic Stadium community has spotted an Instagram post from the Sonic Mania Adventures production manager in which she is visiting SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog offices. The photos are accompanied by the text: “Gotta go fast, gotta make it last—finally swung around the SEGA office as we’re working on another fun series with the blue hedgehog y’all are gonna love it! #Sonic #SonicTheHedgehog #Animation #Work #SEGA #Knuckles #Tails #Amy”.

Not much else is known, but the Sonic Mania Adventures credit is a good sign and the hashtags do name drop Amy who was absent in the recent 2D YouTube shorts. What sort of animated show would you like to see? Sound off in the comments below!

Nintendo Switch SEGA Ages Out Run, Columns II, Thunder Force AC, and Sonic 2 New Content Detailed

The other day it was announced that SEGA Ages would double its output by putting out four more titles. I guess we can consider the first four released the first wave which included: Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV, Phantasy Star, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World. As you know, with past M2 re-releases, they like to add new features to said game. Right now we are looking at all the new details and new content they added for wave 2’s re-releases.

Wave 2 is Out Run, Columns II, Thunder Force AC, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The following was translated by Gematsu.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise Kazuma Kiryu skin free for early buyers

If you are planning on getting Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise early, SEGA has given you one more reason to do it! If you get the game during its launch window, October 2nd through the 16th, you can download the Kazuma Kiryu DLC skin for free. After that they will most likely charge you for it.

The Dragon of Dojima has made his way to Eden! This skin lets you change appearance to Kiryu at any point by visiting Kenishro’s home in Eden. While using this skin, all of Kenshiro’s battle dialogue, including the series’ iconic Hokuto Shinken callouts, will be voiced by the legendary Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan – Kazuma Kiryu.

Fun fact: both Kenshiro and Kiryu share the same Japanese voice actor – Takaya Kuroda!

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise hits PlayStation 4 in America and Europe on October 2nd, with a demo already available to try on the PSN store.

SEGA reveals Tokyo Game Show 2018 line-up

SEGA seems to be going all in at this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2018, what with the announcement of the new IP Project JUDGE (Judge Eyes in Japan), its starting to seem like SEGA finally has a impressive line-up for Japanese fans. But not only that, SEGA is publishing a bunch of Western titles for Japanese audience and some of the games that will have the SEGA logo over there are titles you least expect. It seems that we won’t be getting Sakura Wars information this year, which is a bummer. Check out SEGA’s full Tokyo Game Show 2018 line-up after the jump:

Project JUDGE gets almost an hour long English-dubbed presentation

If you are excited for the next Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios (Yakuza Studio) next game, right now using the working title Project JUDGE (JUDGE EYES in Japan) then you are in luck since there is a long form presentation which features Takuya Kimura, Shosuke Tanihara, Kenichi Takito, Akira Nakao, Alexandros (Japanese rock band), and SEGA’s Toshihiro Nagoshi!  This presentation is dubbed, with a translator for fans to from America to enjoy.

This is possibly one of the more in-depth reveals to a game in a very long time, especially for SEGA. Not only did we get a world wide announcement, but Japan also got a demo on the same day it was revealed and its coming out by the end of 2019 in Asian countries. Yakuza Studio is on fire!

Project JUDGE revealed as the new game from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios

SEGA has announced Project JUDGE (Judge Eyes in Japan) as the new game from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios! Labeled a courtroom thriller, the game is set for a 2019 release on the PS4. The game will see a worldwide release, as SEGA of America shared a trailer simultaneously with the Japanese reveal. Project JUDGE will feature the voice acting talents of Japanese actor/artist Takuya Kimura as the game’s main protagonist, Takayuki Yagami.

Check out the story trailer above and share your thoughts below! After the break, check out the gameplay trailer.

‘Puyo Puyo E-Sports’ gets rated in Korea for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4

The Korean Game Rating Board has now given their rating for an unannounced, SEGA Puyo Puyo entry, this one being calledPuyou Puyo e Sports according to the filed name.

Not surprising as we have been seeing the Puyo Puyo Japanese twitter account teasing a new announcement for awhile, so it might seem that this could be an early announcement that has been leaked, not shocking considering that Tokyo Game Show 2018 is a few weeks away. Also in February SEGA joined the Japanese e-Sports Union and Puyo Puyo was one of the titles discussed as launching their new live events. Now we have to see if this title, if it is a new title, will be coming to the West. Please?

Check out the Korean Game Rating Board page for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions.

The House of the Dead Prototype Discovered After 21 Years

Arcade provider, AndyGeezerServices and Youtuber, KawaiiYinYang had released pictures and footage of the prototype version of The House of the Dead for the SEGA Model 2 arcade hardware on the internet after 21 years. The prototype features two playable levels and tons of unused content such as a different introduction, dialogue, animation, and sound effects (which one of them happens to be the “Reload!” sound from the Virtua Cop series). The prototype may have also been possibly used in a couple of tradeshows back in Japan around the time.

AndyGeezerServices submitted the prototype to MAME and we hope it’ll be open to the public for newer discoveries to come. Hit the jump to take a look at the prototype version of the original House of the Dead.

Tanglewood Review – A Retro Revival (SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis, PC)

It’s not every day that we get a brand new game coming out for the SEGA Mega Drive but Tanglewood by Big Evil Corporation is just that. Joining a very exclusive club of games released long after the console was discontinued, we got to try out and review this new release for the iconic 16 bit console. Staying true to the limitations of 90s game development and being built from the ground up, is Tanglewood a game worthy of reviving your Mega Drive for one more spin, or is it better left in the cupboard, read on to find out!

SEGA Ages Thunder Force IV for Nintendo Switch gets over 10 minutes of gameplay shown

SEGA had a live stream recently shown off the the SEGA Ages version of Thunder Force IV for the Nintendo Switch. As you know, SEGA revealed that this release and Sonic the Hedgehog are getting delayed into this month. If you want to know more about whats new in this version of Thunder Force IV, check out my write up.

What do you guys think? They are pricing this release at $8 dollars in Japan. Worth it at that price?

Valkyria Chronicles 4 reveals overpriced DLC schedule

It seemed the last few years SEGA has been pretty smart with pricing, giving us some great content and launch editions for a fraction of the price. Now it seems SEGA is really believing that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will do really well since they announced their DLC schedule and pricing for Americas and Europe.

  • Japanese Voice Pack  | FREE | September 25
  • Tank Decals | Free | September 25
  • Squad E, to the Beach | $6.99 | October 9
  • A Captainless Squad | $4.99 (free with digital pre-orders) | October 23
  • Expert Level Skirmishes | $4.99 | November 4
  • The Two Valkyria | $4.99 | November 20
  • Edy’s Advance Ops | $3.99 (free if you get the limited edition) | December 4
  • A United Front with Squad 7 | $5.99 (free if you get the limited edition) | December 18

That means that it will cost you a total of 31.94 dollars worth of DLC if you want the complete version of Valkyria Chronicles 4. That means if you buy the physical standard edition, since it seems ‘A Captainless Squad‘ is only for digital pre-orders, you’ll end up paying over 90 dollars when its all said and done. Its a bit weird that SEGA is charging more for DLC than they are charging for a Yakuza 0 port on PC. I’m all for DLC as long as its fairly priced and this isn’t. I mean 5 dollars for expert level skirmishes? The game hits North America and Europe on September 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. But when is the complete edition coming out?

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered hits Nintendo Switch in the West on October 16

The Nintendo Switch has been given the name of a port console, so unsurprisingly we have a upcoming port of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered coming out for the Nintendo Switch on October 16, 2018 for $19.99. And yes, that means I will replay the game once again! SEGA has confirmed that the game will be digital only. This is a pretty good version, you can check out my Valkyria Chronicles Remastered review on the PlayStation 4.

If you pick up Valkyria Chronicles 4 digitally next month, SEGA will be giving you a 25% discount for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, bringing the total down to $14.99 before taxes. SEGA has also launched a Valkyria Chronicles Remastered website here with more information.

Personally hope that SEGA works with Limited Run Games and squeeze this remastered into their Nintendo Switch line-up they have going. I want ANOTHER physical copy of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered!
