Elysian Shadow developers tease stretch goals

ElysianShadows
The guys behind the upcoming Dreamcast indie developed Elysian Shadows RPG have now teased their stretched goals for their upcoming game. We had a chance to talk to them on our podcast and I can tell you these guys are passionate about this project. Definitely a game I’m awaiting release.

Of course the game is also coming out on other platforms like: PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Ouya have been confirmed. But don’t worry, other consoles have now been added via their stretch goals. Their Kickstarter is set to kick off on August 1st.

Updated: Archie Comics set to release Sonic Boom comic series

sonic-boom-12

Update: It seems Archie’s subscription page was posted too soon, as the page is now down and IGN has posted an official exclusive (whoops!) unveiling of the new series. IGN reveals that the series will be written by Ian Flynn with art by Evan Stanley. Also, the premiere issue will have four variant covers that link up when you put them next to each other (seen after the break). SEGA and IGN promise that more will be revealed during next week’s San Diego Comic Con. In a short interview with Flynn and Stanley, the first story arc has been revealed to be 80 pages long and “sets the comical, whimsical tone for the series”. The duo also promised that the series will feature “some over-arching stuff going on from issue to issue that builds up to some REALLY awesome happenings a little later on down the line.”

Original article: Archie Comics  has just announced that it is developing a new comic book adaptation of the upcoming Sonic Boom TV series and video games. This adaptation will be its own stand alone series outside of the Archie continuity. Below is a description of the new Sonic comic series taken from Archie’s site.

SEGA has ‘no plans’ to bring retro games to the Wii U eShop

NoWayWiiU
SEGA Japan has been going crazy porting over Game Gear and other classics under their ‘3D Sega Classics’ brand on the 3DS eShop. But so far there hasn’t been any announcements for any Wii U ports.

Seems that Wii U owners can stop wondering because the question has been answered by Yosuke Okunari, a producer at SEGA. He stated that there are no plans on SEGA supporting the Wii U Virtual Console. You can read his tweet after the jump.

Persona Q coming to Europe not half a year after it comes to the US with Premium Edition

personaqpremium

Sounds like Europeans won’t have to wait much longer than Americans do for the new Persona game for once thanks to NIS America. According to their European store, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth will be coming to Europe on November 28th. And not only that, we’ll be getting a Premium Edition as well. This edition includes a 3DS XL case, the Sounds of the Labyrinth CD, an art book and eleven Tarot cards. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet.

As for the US, it seems like the game may come out there three days earlier on November 25th. The release date isn’t official though, as it comes from Amazon rather than an official announcement. Still, seeing how close it is to the European release date it’s either accurate or it will actually be released at an earlier date. The premium edition will be sold there as well for $79.99.

Atlus opens up a teaser site for a new game

Untitled
Seems that Atlus isn’t done announcing new titles, they have just opened a teaser site for a new game. The pages title says: “This is not broccoli #ATLUS.” So what could it be?

Lots of people seem to think that this is going to be a new entry to the long running Etrian Odyssey franchise. After the jump we have some assets ripped from the teaser page.

SEGAbits at E3 Interview: Sonic Boom Producer Stephen Frost

Our E3 coverage continues with an interview with Sonic Boom Producer Stephen Frost! Stephen was nice enough to sit down on the final day of the expo to answer our questions about the upcoming Wii U and 3DS games Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. Developed by Big Red Button Entertainment (Wii U) and Sanzaru Games (3DS), both titles are due out November 2014.

Persona Q could be the second Atlus game priced at $49.99 on 3DS

Persona-Q-1

No doubt that handheld gaming has increased in cost over the years. One of the things that always surprises me is how slowly software prices have risen as well. Atlus seems to have been trying to add a premium price tag to their titles, starting with last year’s 3DS exclusive Shin Megami Tensei IV. They justified their price tag due to the fact that it was translated and released so quickly (2 months after its Japanese release).

It seems that they want to continue this trend with the upcoming Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth since Amazon and Gamestop have both listed the title for $49.99. Speedy translation? This title took 4 months, 50% more time to be brought over than their last premium priced title, Shin Megami Tensei IV. Shin Magami Tensei IV also came in a nice limited edition box set if you bought a first print run of the game. That included an awesome 176 page strategy guide with concept art, eight track CD and a collectible slipcase while Persona Q only has 12 tarot cards.

What do you guys think? Is $49.99 too steep for any Nintendo 3DS game? Let us know in the comments.

Sonic Boom games heading to Japan, retitled “Sonic Toon”

Sonic_Boom_Team_Shot

It looks like SEGA has reversed their decision to keep Sonic Boom as a Western-only series, as Nintendo Everything reports, the latest issue of Famitsu revealed that the Wii U and 3DS titles will be releasing in Japan under the name of Sonic Toon. No word on whether the TV series will also see release in Japan, but given the new title of Sonic Toon it is possible that the TV show will also be localized and the whole franchise is to be seen as a cartoonish Western branch of the series in Japan. Hey SEGA, as long as you’re sending games Japan’s way, why not localize some of the Japanese SEGA titles for us Westerners, we can consider it a trade.

More news on Sonic Boom Toon as we hear it!

SEGAbits at E3 Preview: Citizens of Earth (PlayStation 4, PSVita, Wii U, 3DS, & PC)

Citizens-of-Earth

Some games just have this irresistible charm about them. The moment you see it, you just know you want to play it and see if it lives up to just how awesome it looks. At E3, Atlus’s Citizens of Earth was one of those games. As a man who is interested in politics and is always open to some political satire, and the concept on display here is way too hilarious to ignore.

Segabits at E3 Preview: Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (3DS)

Nuckles87 and I have been at odds with the Sonic Boom games at E3. While he was more forgiving of Rise of Lyric on Wii U, I found it a dull and mediocre experience overall. However, for Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on 3DS, I really enjoyed this platformer while Nux was not as pleased. Surprisingly, I agreed with most of his complaints, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the game. So what’s in this game that makes me not only enjoy it much more than Sonic Boom on Wii U, but might be my favorite Sonic game on 3DS? Read on.

Sonic Boom E3 Wii U and 3DS trailers arrive

Official trailers for Sonic Boom on Wii U and 3DS have arrived. Lyric, the new villain for the franchise, has been broken out of whatever prison was holding him and says he has unfinished business with Sonic who seems to not have any idea what he’s talking about as this is their first encounter. Graphics look much better than recent footage shown, which may indicate that it was an earlier build that we’ve previously seen. You can also out the 3DS trailer after the break.

We’ll have more coverage of Sonic Boom as me and Nuckles87 get our hands on the game later today!

New Sonic Boom character revealed – presenting Sticks the Badger

Bozus5YIYAI1piP

For several months, concept art for Sonic Boom has been making the rounds on social networks, and one photo featured a character that looked very much like Sonic Rush Adventure‘s Marine. The importance of this unnamed character became apparent when what appeared to be leaked tradeshow signage featured this new character standing amongst the four main character. Today, SEGA has revealed that this new character is named Sticks the Badger. After the break, check out SEGA’s official announcement as well as a reveal video!

Yuzo Koshiro will compose music for Persona Q

32435-PQHEAD
Yuzo Koshiro has worked on music for a lot of games, but SEGA fans will always know him for his amazing work on the Streets of Rage series. In my opinion, this is what made Yuzo Koshiro a legend. Want more music from him? Don’t worry, it has been revealed that he will be composing tracks for the upcoming Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.

Also announced to be working on the game is Yuji Himukai who is being brought aboard to design some monsters along with Shin Nagasawa. All three (including Yuzo Koshiro) worked on Etrian Odyssey (and Persona Q is basically Etrian Odyssey with Personas…).
