First Yakuza: Ishin details revealed by Famitsu

yakuza_ishin.0_cinema_640.0

Even though Yakuza 5 only came out 8 months ago over in Japan, SEGA is already teasing the next title in the franchise, Yakuza: Ishin (Ishin apparently translates to Resurrection). So, why not just make Yakuza 6?

“In terms of volume and quality, we felt like we did everything we could with Yakuza 5. If I had to put it out there, I’d say that if we want to do another numbered title in the series, we’ll need a little time for that.” – Toshihiro Nagoshi, director of Yakuza series

Like we told you when the game was first revealed, you will take the role of a real life historical figure, Sakamoto Ryoma. The game will take place in mid 19th century Japan during the final years of the shogunate ruling.

Just like in history, Sakamoto was born into a low ranking Samurai clan known as Tosa fiefdom. Ryoma gets frustrated with the strict caste system, so him and his friend Takechi Hanpeita form a political group to reform the government and resist the rapid Westernization that is taking place in Japan at the time. The villain the the game? Saito Hajime, leader of the Shinsengumi group of samurai that are loyal to the shogunate.

In addition to the new trailer which reveals NiGHTS bosses appearing in Sonic Lost World, which you can see here, SEGA has also released a ton of new screens from Sonic Lost World showing off various stages including Frozen Factory, 2-player assist mode, 2-player racing, Miiverse functionality, as well as the game’s world map. Like Sonic Colors, it appears that Sonic will run from act to act on a little map, and like Sonic Unleashed the more you progress in the game the more Lost Hex comes together. Check out the screens after the break, and as always share your comments below or in our lovely dedicated forum topic.

NiGHTS into Sonic Lost World?!? – SEGA reveals The Deadly Six Edition

Well this is very much a “what the f***?!” piece of news! SEGA has released the Sonic Lost World Gamescom trailer with an added bit at the end showing off a special version of Sonic Lost World for Wii U dubbed The Deadly Six Edition which includes “deadlier game content” by way of The Deadly Six teaming up with NiGHTS bosses! Yes, you read that right. Sonic is going back to the world of NiGHTS and is taking on several bosses from the series. Give the video a watch and try to wrap your head around this crazy news! Currently the special edition of the game is only announced for the UK, but like Sonic & All-Stars Racing’s special edition a US version is likely to be revealed too.

My Life with SEGA gets unboxed by SEGA CD Universe

YouTube user Vampire Mike, owner of the SegaCDUniverse YouTube channel, has created an unboxing video of the recently released “SEGAbits Presents My Life with SEGA” DVD which was given away as part of our third anniversary contest. While Vampire Mike was not a contest winner, he was enough of a My Life with SEGA fan to receive a copy of the DVD from AJ, as well as a hilarious note and a special Video CD version of “SEGAbits Presents My Life with SEGA” for use on the SEGA Saturn. As AJ is on summer vacation, with new episodes returning in October, I thought I’d share this special unboxing video. Check it out, and check out SegaCDUniverse’s awesome channel!

Football Manager Classic 2014 coming to Playstation Vita

Footballmanager2014classic

SEGA’s Football Manager series sells really well in Europe, so its no surprised when they announced that Football Manager Classic 2014 was coming to Playstation Vita during Gamescom Sony press conference.

So now you are asking yourself why the title has ‘classic’ in the end? Seems that it is a mode that was introduced to last year’s version on PC that makes it quicker for you to get the full Football Manager experience. Yes, you still get access to all the goodies including huge database of players (over 1,500 scouts), 3D match engine, advance AI, and dozens of leagues to play.

Seems that the developer of the game, Sports Interactive actually talked to Hardlight (Sonic Jump and Sonic Dash) about development for the game. Interesting, watching SEGA studios work together. Nice job!

Sonic Lost World Gamescom trailer details 2-player modes and more!

Yahoo! News has released a new Sonic Lost World trailer to coincide with Gamescom 2013. The trailer opens with a peek at a cutscene of Sonic and Tails arriving at Lost Hex in the Tornado, followed by footage of various stages including what appears to be Frozen Factory, a stage in which Sonic skates across icy paths. 2-Player Co-Op Support Mode shows Sonic being controlled by player 1, and the previously revealed gadgets built by tails being controlled by player 2. Past screens and videos showed off the green helicopter, and here we see it again as well as a fighter jet, a hover craft, and a silver UFO. One moment in the video shows the gadget acting as a platform, not unlike New Super Mario Bros. U’s support mode. The support mode actually has Tails voice, as though he is off-screen assisting Sonic. Also on show is a 2 Player Versus Races mode, with the multi-colored robotic Sonics from Sonic Colors making a return. Player one uses the TV screen while player 2 plays on the gamepad screen. MiiVerse Item Sharing allows players to share items like Wisp powers and classic Sonic power-ups including speed shoes, invincibility and Sonic 3’s elemental shields. One Wisp power-up appears to be called “ball”, turning Sonic into a giant black ball. Finally, we hear some taunts from the Deadly Six.

So far, it is one of the most revealing trailers to date with a lot to digest, so give it a few watches to take it all in and then let us know what you think about the game in the comments below!

Eurogamer runs a Condemned: Criminal Origins retrospective

DectectiveCondemned

SEGA’s Condemned: Criminal Origins was one of the Xbox 360’s launch titles, and later the game received a sequel on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I loved this game when I first played it, and it has even made some of our lists of sequels we want to see. The fine people over at Eurogamer seem to like the game as well, since they posted up a retrospective article on it.

Did any of you guys enjoy the first game? If so, why? Let us know!

SEGA’s next Yakuza game to take place in Feudal Japan again

YakuzaIShinlogo
SEGA Japan have just announced another Yakuza title, this one seems to be a spin-off titled Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza in the West) Ishin. The only information we have is the logo and the image below, which reminds me of Yakuza: Kenzan, a spin-off on Playstation 3 that never made it over.

What platform is this being developed for? That we don’t know either, but since Nagoshi has stated before that Yakuza 5 was going to be his last Playstation 3 game, don’t be shocked that its SEGA’s first Playstation 4 title.  Guesses on Neo-GAF is that Ryu will be portraying the life of Sakamoto Ryōma.

Senbonzakura Hatsune Miku Project DIVA F trailer

SEGA Tunes: Samba de Amigo’s Samba de Janeiro

In Samba de Amigo, every day is a dance party, with and endless parade of singing, shaking and Latin music. Few songs in the game embody the spirit of Samba’s visuals as well as Samba de Janeiro does. This is what a wild party sounds like and it’s always a joy to shake maracas to. This carefree party atmosphere also makes Samba de Amigo one of SEGA’s quintessential summer games.

IGN’s video: ‘5 encouraging things about Sonic Lost World’

Above is IGN’s video where they … get this, talk positive about a Sonic game! I know, I couldn’t believe it. Though, if you are tired of this game being compared to Mario Galaxy….it is weird that right after the guy says that Sonic is going back to his roots with stages, colors and etc, but is still Mario Galaxy looking? Riiiiight…

I also like how they pretend the 3DS version doesn’t exist.

Update: Sonic Dancing (dirty?) at Sonic Boom

Warning: the first 25 seconds are so is NSFW.

Here is a video from Sonic Boom. The music at first is quite funny. Then when SEGA realizes what’s being played it’s quickly switched, but it’s an awesome video either way. Apparently the video has been getting taken down with DMCA claims, could be SEGA or the licensed music thats being played, so watch it while you can!

Also, I don’t know the names of the songs being played, but if anyone would tell me in the comments that would be great!

Update: here is a perspective from inside the crowd,
