Steam registry outs Sonic Generation bundle

For those people that didn’t know, Steam stores application data that includes a list of every game that has ever appeared (and will soon appear) in Steam. Even if you don’t own it.

Not only does Sonic Generation have a registry, but so does a pre-order for a bundle, which seems to include every Sonic game available on Steam. Though seems that the original version will include a free copy of Sonic The Hedgehog (Genesis).

To add to the flame, according to Sonic Stadium, the SEGA blog listed the PC version in a post and quickly edited their post.

Sonic Generations Modern Era Trailer

Following on from their recent trailer for the Dreamcast era, SEGA has released the trailer for the modern era, three of the most recent console titles in the series. Featured in the trailer are stages Crisis City, Rooftop Run and Planet Wisp and showcasing both modern and classic Sonic as the blast through the various stages at high speed and platforming.

With Sonic Generations less than a month away, this could be one of the final trailers, if not the final trailer, SEGA releases to promote the game. Sonic Generation is set to release 1st November in North America and 4th November in Europe.

Sky Sanctuary Gameplay Video

CVG has a preview up for Sonic Generations. Along with it, comes this gameplay video of Sky Sanctuary, with its lush graphics, great remix of the original tune and the giant Death Egg looming in the background. How can you not be hyped for this game?!

Sonic Generations: Sonic Team building on lessons learnt

Sonic Generation is looking to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SEGA’s blue mascot in style. The game is set to feature a number of throwbacks, references, past levels and a complete mishmash of the history of the entire series as publisher SEGA looks to restore the quality that was once synopsis with the series. I spent an extensive time playing the levels available for the Sonic Generations demo and got to play as both classic and modern Sonic, click after the break to find out how the title fared!

Sonic Generations – Six Screens from Speedy Highway!

Take a gander at these high-speed Sonic Generations screenshots featuring ‘Speedy Highway’ (first seen in Sonic Adventure) now in glorious HD!

I remember playing Sonic Adventure when it first released on Dreamcast and that one particular set piece in Seedy Highway where Sonic Runs down the side of a sky scraper blew my mind. I’d never seen anything so mind bending, graphically stunning (for its time) and fast in a videogame before. It will stay with me for ever; I hope Sonic Generations can recapture the magic of Speedy Highway!

Sonic Colors hasn’t sold 1 million units in the US

Nintendo Power has released a list of all the software that has sold over a million copies in the US. There are many titles that we knew where going to make it. The best selling Wii game? Wii Play sold 13.04 million units. Impressive.
SEGA only had 2 games make it on the list. Yes, you guessed it. Mario & Sonic at Olympic Games (2.12 million) and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (1.34 million). Sadly Sonic Colors did not make the list. That means that the game, so far, hasn’t broken 1 million units in the United States.

Damn, that sucks! Lets see how Sonic Generations performs on the PS3 & 360. Hit the jump for the rest of the list.

The Weekly Five: Sonic Generations Classic Callbacks

While Sonic Generations release is still a month away, thanks to the many screens and video clips released by SEGA, fans have been able to pick apart every pixel. Some screens feature road signs with in-jokes, while others feature references to classic Sonic stages from the Genesis/Mega Drive days. Yes, even though the game only features a handful of classic era zones, that hasn’t kept Sonic team from including callbacks to zones not featured in the game. In this week’s Weekly Five we’ll run through five of these way past cool references.

Sonic Generations: Dreamcast Era Trailer

Coming from IGN is the latest trailer for Sonic Generations. This one covers the Dreamcast era. This time, we get a very tiny bit of Speed Highway to check out in both classic and modern. Now this kind of video I can handle. Not a spoiler-filled half-hour playthrough. Just a teeny taste of what’s to come.

The Sega Hype Contest Winner!

With a lot less entries than over at TSS, we finally got a winner! I’m not gonna post some finalists like over at Sonic Stadium since the amount of posts was considerably less. However, we did get some new readers from Sonic Stadium as I recognize some of their posts. To everyone who entered, thank you so much. I’m glad to see so many new readers.  To those who came from TSS and lost, THANKS FOR THE EXTRA HITS SUCKERS! (Kidding! Kidding!) It seems most of you were excited for Sonic Generations the most and so was the winner. So who won?…

Spoiler Alert: Giga.de Shows Insane Amounts of Sonic Generations

Video contains a LOT of Generations footage:

While Sonic fans have been eagerly awaiting an IGN preview of Sonic Generations, only to learn that it had been pushed back due to SEGA extending the embargo, German gaming site Giga.de has gone all out with a near 30 minute video preview of Sonic Generations. Within the first minute viewers are introduced to the interactive menu, and I gotta say it looks fantastic. It actually reminds me of Kirby’s Epic Yarn in the way you traverse it. Also included are full playthroughs of many stages. So if you want to avoid spoilers, just watch the first few minutes for a taste of the menu and then click “stop”.

After the break, a list of observations. Of course, these venture into spoiler territory.

Toys R Us: Sonic Generations for under $40, no excuses

The boys at Toys R Us have Sonic Generations for pre-order, for the low price of $37.49. That is pretty damn cheap. The issue here is that its not available in stores and is only online. But they ship your item for free.

Another issue is that the Casino Night pinball stage is exclusive to Gamestop pre-orders. That means that you will most likely have to wait for that DLC to hit PSN/XBLA for a price. But if you don’t care, this is an excellent price.

Sonic Generations level trailer features Sky Sanctuary

Following on from SEGA’s latest screenshots, the publisher has released a new trailer that focuses on stages found in the classic Sonic games and unvails Sky Sanctuary for the very first time. Also featured in the trailer is Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone showing both classic and modern segments of each stage. Accompaning the trailer is a remix of Sky Sanctuary and the trailer ends with Sonic’s metal double, Metal Sonic. Sonic Generations is set to be released 1st November in North America and 4th Novemember in Europe.

Sonic Generations screens featuring bosses

With the release of Sonic Generations only a month and few weeks away, it seems some more early screens have been released onto the Xbox marketplace featuring two particular boss fights and a stage that has been revealed for the first time to the public, thankfully we have the screens for your viewing pleasure, for those without an Xbox 360. For those not wanting to spoil themselves, avoid the break, otherwise for everyone else jump in to enjoy some fresh Sonic Generations screens.

New Footage for 3DS SEGA Games

Nintendo had a press conference in Japan tonight, and while there was nothing new revealed on the SEGA front, there were some new videos and screenshots of several upcoming 3DS games.

We got a Sonic Generations video which showed what I believe to be the most footage we’ve seen from Mushroom Hill so far. It also contains the first screenshot of the Metal Sonic race. We also got new footage and screens for Rhythm Thief and the new Hatsune Miku game Project Mirai.
