Junaio using dancing Bayonetta in their Augmented Reality app

Bayonetta 2 is coming soon and a promotion just started with the augmented reality app called Junaio. If you download it right now you will be able to put a dancing Bayonetta anywhere you take a photo. The app is avalible for iOS and Android.

If you download the fan, hit the search and type ‘bayonetta2’ to get what your looking for. What’s cool is if you put her next to a pole shaped object she’ll do a little pole dancing.

I guess this is a photo contest in Japan, you can find details here.

Masami Ueda discusses music in Bayonetta 2 and announces OST

masamiueda2-620x350
Masami Ueda, lead composer of Bayonetta 1 & 2,  discusses about the music featured in Bayonetta 2. He talks about composing the battle themes with more of a livelier feel than its predecessor. Ueda tries to have the boss themes divided into movements that went with each of the stage and made it a lot harder to find where to smoothly loop the song, but added impact was worth the effort.

He then talks about stages theme as most of them loops, but some are a single song that lasts from start of the stage to its finish. Lastly, he discusses about the theme song to Bayonetta 2 as it has a connection to the moon similar to the previous game’s theme song, “Fly Me to the Moon“.

Most of the composers of the original Bayonetta returned to help out on Bayonetta 2 with 183 songs composed. The Bayonetta 2 OST has also been announced in his blog due to the warm reception of the first game’s soundtrack. Further details on the OST will be revealed later on his blog post. You can check out his latest blog on Platinum Games site here.

Sonic Boom GameStop US pre-order bonus revealed – an exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog action figure

Bu8FVmdIIAApSzN
SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has revealed that those who pre-order Sonic Boom for either the Wii U or 3DS will receive an exclusive action figure. The figure, released by Tomy, features Sonic Boom‘s Sonic the Hedgehog with a “The Ancients’ Crystal” accessory. I assume the crystal accessory is what makes the figure unique, as we’ve already seen figures of Sonic and other characters on display at SEGA’s E3 booth.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Sonic action figure as a pre-order bonus, as the UK saw a Sonic Colors Colours figure as a pre-order bonus. At the moment, however, the Sonic Boom figure is US only.

SEGAbits at Comic Con Preview: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric

lyric

From its announcement, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric has drawn a healthy bit of skepticism, especially among the hedgehog’s older fans. Developed outside of Sonic Team by the unproven Western studio Big Red Button and intended to coincide with the release of the Sonic Boom cartoon series, fears typically associated with the phrase licensed game immediately came to mind. Having had the opportunity to play the demo, it’s evident that Sonic Boom has potential, I just hope that what I played isn’t too indicative of what we’ll be playing when the game releases this November.

SEGA releases new Sonic Boom behind-the-scenes video and reveals non-player characters

No doubt in anticipation of San Diego Comic Con, SEGA has released a new behind-the-scenes video for Sonic Boom the TV series as well as a SEGA Blog post revealing the characters that will populate the video game and TV show universe. The new characters, seen after the break, will serve as NPCs for the games and supporting cast members for the TV show, although not all characters will make the jump from video games to television.

Elysian Shadow developers tease stretch goals

ElysianShadows
The guys behind the upcoming Dreamcast indie developed Elysian Shadows RPG have now teased their stretched goals for their upcoming game. We had a chance to talk to them on our podcast and I can tell you these guys are passionate about this project. Definitely a game I’m awaiting release.

Of course the game is also coming out on other platforms like: PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Ouya have been confirmed. But don’t worry, other consoles have now been added via their stretch goals. Their Kickstarter is set to kick off on August 1st.

SEGA has ‘no plans’ to bring retro games to the Wii U eShop

NoWayWiiU
SEGA Japan has been going crazy porting over Game Gear and other classics under their ‘3D Sega Classics’ brand on the 3DS eShop. But so far there hasn’t been any announcements for any Wii U ports.

Seems that Wii U owners can stop wondering because the question has been answered by Yosuke Okunari, a producer at SEGA. He stated that there are no plans on SEGA supporting the Wii U Virtual Console. You can read his tweet after the jump.

Pier Solar HD gets delayed again due to failing Microsoft’s certification process

large (1)
Its hard to believe that games actually go through a certification process before you buy said product. I want to know who approved games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, but that isn’t what we are here to talk about. It seems Pier Solar HD has hit another bump in the road when they missed their certification from Microsoft.

“Microsoft already evaluated Pier Solar as well but we failed some internal requirements on the certification and we’re correcting them for the next submission. This also impacts Wii U and PlayStation(s) submissions since we want to send it as clean as possible so that we don’t get another failed certification. Luckily, the process doesn’t take as long as we thought, so the perspectives to getting a release date gets better. As soon as we’re certified on all platforms we’ll announce the date and put it on the street.”

Solar Pier HD is headed to Linux, Mac, Windows,  Ouya, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Wii U, and of course the Dreamcast. It seems only consoles will be affected by the delay.

SEGAbits at E3 Preview: Bayonetta 2

Bayonetta-2

E3 is a great event filled to the brim with great games, but there can only be one game of the show. For me, that game is Bayonetta 2. I have been excited for Bayonetta 2 since that wonderful day in September when Nintendo had announced they had saved the game from its long-rumored cancellation. I’m happy to say that if the E3 demo is anything to go by, Bayonetta 2 is not only set to live up to the legacy of the original, it’s set to surpass it.

SEGAbits at E3 Interview: Sonic Boom Producer Stephen Frost

Our E3 coverage continues with an interview with Sonic Boom Producer Stephen Frost! Stephen was nice enough to sit down on the final day of the expo to answer our questions about the upcoming Wii U and 3DS games Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. Developed by Big Red Button Entertainment (Wii U) and Sanzaru Games (3DS), both titles are due out November 2014.

Sonic Boom games heading to Japan, retitled “Sonic Toon”

Sonic_Boom_Team_Shot

It looks like SEGA has reversed their decision to keep Sonic Boom as a Western-only series, as Nintendo Everything reports, the latest issue of Famitsu revealed that the Wii U and 3DS titles will be releasing in Japan under the name of Sonic Toon. No word on whether the TV series will also see release in Japan, but given the new title of Sonic Toon it is possible that the TV show will also be localized and the whole franchise is to be seen as a cartoonish Western branch of the series in Japan. Hey SEGA, as long as you’re sending games Japan’s way, why not localize some of the Japanese SEGA titles for us Westerners, we can consider it a trade.

SEGAbits at E3 Preview: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U)

After you’re done reading, get a second opinion from Jason Berry over at Sonic Stadium!

Sonic has been reinvented countless times over the years, to the point where the character has time and time again become unrecognizable in every way except his name, speed and trademark attitude. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric represents the latest of these reinventions and is one of the most radical re-imaginings since Sonic made the transition to 3D fifteen years ago. Nothing has been held as sacred here, with Sonic Boom effectively acting as a near complete teardown of what past games were.

For one, this game isn’t just about speed and platforming, but also features a variety of brawling-centric levels. Though very few speed areas were on display, the final game will apparently feature a mix of speed areas and brawling areas, rather than keeping them segregated from one another as they were in the demo. Since there were no real speed areas on display, this preview will be focusing mostly on the game’s combat areas.

Sonic Boom E3 Wii U and 3DS trailers arrive

Official trailers for Sonic Boom on Wii U and 3DS have arrived. Lyric, the new villain for the franchise, has been broken out of whatever prison was holding him and says he has unfinished business with Sonic who seems to not have any idea what he’s talking about as this is their first encounter. Graphics look much better than recent footage shown, which may indicate that it was an earlier build that we’ve previously seen. You can also out the 3DS trailer after the break.

We’ll have more coverage of Sonic Boom as me and Nuckles87 get our hands on the game later today!
