Updated 22/Feb: Fast-Striker Dreamcast Promo Spotted in Tokyo

Updated 22/Feb: NG:Dev.Team has confirmed this promo is made, but they found it cool as well.Feast your eyes on the first post GD-Rom Dreamcast Promo

Reported by Dreamcast-Scene yesterday. Certainly something you don’t see everyday. This is a photograph taken by Shumps.Com forum member ‘Rancor‘ in a retail videogame store featuring a large poster with info on the game, and an lcd monitor displaying what we can guess to be the trailer. This is probably the first post gd-rom era Dreamcast game to be promoted in a retail store, and I doubt it will be the last.

What I find intresting is the Dreamcast logo’s featured prominently on the promo; NG:Dev.Team or any other indie publisher all have been careful enough to never use any SEGA copyrighted material. Either NG:Dev.Team has earned approval from SEGA, or this promo is made by a die hard Dreamcast fanatic who wants to promote the game and SEGA’s last system. We have contacted NGDT for more information, for now this is filed under fan made.

“Updated 21st/Feb” Play-Asia Slashes Prices off GOAT Games

Updated 21/02:

GSP isn’t issuing a statement on the price slashes Play-Asia has made but we’ve been informed that the discounts are a limited time sale rather than permanent price cuts, so it is possible that the games may return to their original prices.

Which means you’d better pick them up fast, if you haven’t already.

Original Story 20/02:

GOAT Store has been around for over a decade now, GOAT Store Publishing launched in 2003 with the release of Feet of Fury. To date they haven’t dropped prices off on any of their games; in fact each successive title has had a slight increase in the manufacturer suggested retail price.

Play-Asia has decided to break the GOAT Tradition by slashing prices up to 70% on all GOAT Games.

CAPCOM says Nintendo 3DS launch is as Exciting as the Dreamcast launch

Even though this statement does focus on the Nintendo 3DS launch, it’s nice to see that the guys at Capcom still worthship the great times they had with the Dreamcast. Recently Yoshinori Ono told the EDGE magazine, that the Nintendo 3DS launch is as exciting as the one of Sega Dreamcast back then.

“First, we are in Nintendo country. Second, the feeling I have with 3DS is the same as when the Dreamcast came out – as a developer, I mean, these machines are so exciting. We’re fascinated by it at Capcom, and diving into the innards at the moment, but you know there’s just so much more there to unlock; it’s got more to give.”

Wondering how Ryuji Goda got a Gatling Gun arm?

[“Problem?”]

Ryuji Goda was the main villain in Yakuza 2, he held the title of Dragon of Kansai. Now? Now he has a big ass gun for an arm. How did this happen?

He actually wanted the new arm, it seems. After what happened in the Yakuza 2 (go play it and find out), Goda became a target for people trying to climb up the power ladder, and was always under attack. So to end his troubles, he decided to ask an old man named “Gun Smith” (clever name? LOL) to make his arm into a gatling gun.

After he got the arm, he wondered what he would be using it for and just like that, zombies start appearing and his arm basically paid itself off.

SEGA Sequel Saturdays: Comix Zone

This is my first time taking on the ‘SEGA Sequel Saturdays’ feature, I hope I do it justice. My pick is Comix Zone, it might have been a very hard and short game, but it still remains as one of my favorite SEGA Genesis titles of all time.

I think with PSN & XBLA games doing so well, it might be time for SEGA to do a proper sequel for this title. Move over Sonic 4, this is the Genesis game that deserved a sequel!

Valkyria Chronicles 3 DLC gets first episode details

Valkyria Chronicles 2 came out and its DLC was only extra missions. Not bad, but users missed the DLC experience they had with Valkyria Chronicles (PS3). Thankfully for you, Valkyria Chronicles 3 will bring back the ‘episode’ format.

Episode one will be called “The Restless,” which fallows Nameless leader Kurt and Imca. The episode will feature missions, cutscenes and awkward interactions between both characters. Even has a new sword to unlock. New episodes will be priced at 600 yen ($7), the first one (The Restless) coming out February 22nd.

SEGA still plans on selling missions like they did in Valkyria Chronicles 2. The first will be Disciplinary Mission: Block Their Way. This one has players stopping an army using anti-tank weapons, with a reward of a boost evasion blue ribbon if you succeed. Missions cost 200 yen ($2.40).

5 Things SEGA Fans Need to Stop Doing

I love SEGA fans, they’re my favorite type of video game fan. However there are things that some of them do that make me want to smack my skull against a wall. Consider these to be the five things that grind my gears, five things that SEGA fans could easily stop doing and should stop doing. Just what are those five things? Read on.

SEGA Toys Unveils “Wappy Dog”

Wappy

SEGA Toys is at it again, although not with a “toylet” or robot girlfriend, at least not this time. No, this is a robotic dog that interacts with you, and an upcoming DS video game. You can pet it, talk to it, and it will always respond by moving or making some noise. The key here is that the dog is really sensitive to sound, so it reacts in different ways to the beeps and boops from the video game. Cool idea, I guess. And you don’t have to pee on it.

Bizarre Creation’s Farewell Video

Bizarre Creations is the studio that teamed up with SEGA to bring us titles such as Metropolis Street Racer and The Club. The studio was bought by Activision after they released The Club with SEGA and now they are being let go.

We posted about this happening a few months ago, now it’s official and this is their farewell video. Hopefully all employees find work.

Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown ver. A gets trailer

Its pretty impressive how well this game has held the test of time. Very nice graphics still. The trailer shows off the players moves and combo chains for the upcoming version.

But what is this in the end… a playable Dural? I’m intrigued, now give me my damn console port.

SEGA shows off Shogun 2’s multiplayer

SEGA have recently released a trailer detailing the aspects of Shogun 2: Total War’s multiplayer. Looks pretty nice if you ask me. A lot of customizable attributes, including veteran soldiers, your general’s avatar, and very own banner. Plus some more exciting content like clans, cooperative multiplayer, and more. Worth a watch…or two.

Xplay gives us a taste of Yakuza 4

SEGA senior producer Yasuhiro Noguchi stopped by Xplay to show off what’s presumably the demo for Yakuza 4. He walks us through the various characters and tells us a bit about what to expect as far as bonus content is concerned. Yakuza 4 is set to be released on March 15th in North America and March 18th in Europe.

SEGA Genesis Classic Collection Gold Edition announced

SEGA has just announced SEGA Genesis Classic Collection Gold Edition, which will be released for the PC and contain 46 classic Genesis games. A full list of the games has not been announced yet, but  Sonic 2, Shining Force, Toe Jam & Earl, Sonic 3D Blast, and Virtua Fighter 2 have been confirmed.

This was announced by SEGA America, I assume SEGA Europe will stop releasing volumes and do this bigger collection as well. The collection is expected to hit store shelves on March 15th. Hit the jump for the press release (which says you can get the full list of games at SEGA.com, but at this time it’s not on there).
