Phantasy star online 2 high quality trailer

Check it out! At long last the high quality version of the Phantasy Star Online 2 trailer is here for all to see.
There isn’t a lot to do now but sit back and enjoy what many of us have waited a decade for!

The PSO2 footage you will see is still in Pre-Alpha stages, in fact Alpha testing only starts this summer and the game will release either at the end of this year or 2012. Even in these early stages the game looks fantastic to me, I’m itching to play it!

If I could voice one concern it would be that the environment textures are very hit and miss, the floor textures could use bump mapping for anyone playing with a strong gaming PC. It is by no means a deal breaker however, I’ve waited far to long to get my hands on PSO2 and I’m very excited to finally see it in action!

(The video is still processing so it’s not SUPER high quality just yet, we got it up ASAP!)

Alternatively the trailer can be viewed HERE! However I found it loads very slowly.

Total War: Shogun 2 – Multiplayer Tutorial Part 2

Check out this new multiplayer video feature for Shogun 2:Total War. This video narrated by that quirky guy who’s probably called Mark or Sebastian. It’s been so long since Multiplayer Tutorial Part 1 that I don’t even remember what happened in it. But rest assured that Shogun 2 is a brilliant game and this is worth a watch if only for the commentary from Jeff.

(Boy do I wish he had introduced himself!)

Yukio Sugino talks about what makes SEGA great

Yukio Sugino had an interview in the latest Famitsu magazine, where he talks about the past, present and future of SEGA. One of the quotes that I loved was when he described what made SEGA great.

“Sega’s philosophy has always been that creativity is our lifeblood and we try to reflect that not just in what we make, but in all aspects of our work. Staying consistent with this spirit is what’s allowed us to approach the world of entertainment in such a broad scope.” – Yukio Sugino

He goes on to talk about a lot of great stuff, about how they used to make games with world wide appeal and not just split it up into regions. So what about not having hardware? Yukio Sugino says it’s hard to go from a hardware company to software.

Toshihiro Nagoshi Talks Binary Domain

Binary Domain, Nagoshi’s new shooter, was revealed back in January. We saw a trailer that didn’t give much away about the game and we haven’t heard much about it since. Talking to Famitsu, Nagoshi didn’t give much away! Why? Because as much as he would like to tell you more about Binary Domain, he isn’t allowed to!

”To be honest, there’s very little that we can actually reveal at this precise time,” he admitted to Famitsu.
“There’s a lot I want to talk about; it’s practically all about to burst out of my mouth, but I just have to keep it all bottled up for now. All I can really say is that it’s getting better by the day.”

More Sonic Generations Details Revealed

As more interviews and previews for Sonic Generations are released, more details have been revealed (so that’s how it works!). Swedish gaming magazine LEVEL has a preview and interview with Iizuka, and G4TV has an interview with Patrick Riley, SEGA’s director of international productions. Check out the G4TV interview video above and head over to the Sonic Stadium boards for the full translated LEVEL article (four posts down). Thanks to TSS forum user Carbo for translating.

After the break, a handy bulleted list of the new details revealed!

PSO2 Trailer – Translated

In the next couple of days Sega have promised to release a HD version of the PSO2 trailer, but until then how about this fan translation of the trailer to whet your appetite?

This trailer gives you a better idea of the story, game play and additional features.

Free-to-play mobile Phantasy Star game out in Japan

Mobage members from Japan today will be able to get their hands on Phantasy Star Eternal Hunters, a free-to-play mobile game.

The game has you playing as a hunter, who has to investigate a crashed ship. You have to gather reports and all that hunter like stuff. The game changes it up by changing enemies depending on where your GPS location on your phone says you are.

To celebrate the launch, SEGA has released a tie-in item for Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. The only way to obtain the item is to defeat and gather reports from monsters in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo. After you kill them, they will give you a code. Item pictured below.

SEGA Europe gearing up for Sonic’s 20th with back-to-school merchandise

2011’s the year that Sonic turns 20, and SEGA Europe’s making sure that everyone knows it. Heading to retailers in the UK and Ireland this summer are Sonic backpacks and other back-to-school stationery items. Several shops have already placed orders for the Blueprint-designed stationery, including WH Smith, Tesco, Debenhams, Morrisons, and Next.

“I believe there is still a vast untapped potential for licensing based on games, and we will see an increase in overall sales as more retailers start listing the stock and see the results in their sell-through numbers.”

-Sissel Henno, head of brand licensing for SEGA Europe

I imagine this is only the tip of the iceberg. Expect to hear much more about Sonic merchandise in the coming months, especially as his big 20th Anniversary game gets closer to release in the back quarter of this year.

See Modern Sonic’s Green Hill Zone in FULL!

Thanks to a new Takashi Iizuka interview with French gaming website Gameblog.fr, additional gameplay footage of both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic has been released, playing during and after the interview. While I’ve yet to figure out what Iizuka is saying, it doesn’t sound as though there are any bombs dropped. What is way cool about the video, however, is that we get to see the final portion of Modern Sonic running though Green Hill Zone. I speedily stitched together the available footage to create a full run of the stage. Enjoy!

New Hatsune Miku project reveal on the 28th

SEGA is set to reveal a new Hatsune Miku project they have been working on, most likely to be Project Diva 3. Could this be the first entry to the series on the NGP?

I guess we will find out in a few days. Isn’t it great? Another Japanese game we won’t get in the west. I guess you should be happy that Sony hasn’t sued all import stores.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 – New DLC Trailer

From what I can gather this trailer highlights multiple DLC releases including six new ‘Hard EX’ missions which will release for 200 Yen ($2.40) each and two additional ‘Story Episodes’ at 600 Yen ($7.30) each.
The Story Episodes will allow you to play as fan favorite characters such as Alicia, Wekin, Isara and Edy as well as some new weaponry.

Meanwhile here we are in the West still waiting for the vanilla game, hurry up Sega!

PSO2 livestream now live! [Update]

[Update: It’s over! I’m desperately trying to find a video of the trailer that was shown, but in the meantime you can look at my low quality screenshot!]

Well… it’s not exactly PSO2 just yet. Just a bunch of Japanese people talking and playing PSP2… but this is where the PSO2 footage is supposed to appear. So keep your eyes peeled!

This isn’t the official stream btw, just a fan stream of the official stream. So you don’t gotta worry about limits or moonspeak!
