I’ll admit, Renegade Ops wasn’t really at the top of my list when it came to SEGA’s E3 offerings. After playing it though, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not really a call back to any SEGA legacy series, nor is it from any major SEGA developer, but it’s something any fan of arcade games should probably check out when it comes to Xbox Live, PSN, and PC later this year.
Today I finally got to check out Platinum Games’ latest offering, Anarchy Reigns, which takes place in the mad world of Madworld. Full impressions inside.
Me and Nuckles87 just finished a session with Sonic Generations. Both the 3DS verion and X-Box360 version in 3-D. Given the different developers, both have a fairly different feel. One leaving me excited while another leaves me a little dissapointed.
Usually screens of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games wouldn’t excite me too much. But color me surprised when I caught a glimpse of the first screens to be released and I got… a little excited! That was probably due to spotting one of my favorite 3D Sonic stages, Windy Valley of Sonic Adventure, returning as the location of a Dream Event. On the Mario side of things we have a 2D remake of Yoshi’s Story, which makes me hopeful that we’ll see some 2D Sonic stages return.

As more interviews and previews for Sonic Generations are released, more details have been revealed (so that’s how it works!). Swedish gaming magazine LEVEL has a preview and interview with Iizuka, and G4TV has an interview with Patrick Riley, SEGA’s director of international productions. The latest indie release for the… SEGA Genesis?! That’s right! We’re not talking indie Dreamcast, we’re going way back to SEGA’s 16-bit wonder! Let’s unbox and boot up the Pier Solar Reprint Edition.

Today, I got the chance to try out Platinum Games newest venture “Vanquish”. The game is basically a cross between Bayonetta’s speed and style and Gears of War’s cover centric shooting game play.
Aside from Shenmue and, perhaps, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi is the most iconic franchise the Dreamcast every produced. So it comes as no surprise that the original game has joined Sonic Adventure as one of the first games in the Dreamcast revival SEGA is now pushing. Everyone here knows how the game plays: you play a taxi driver who drives people to far away locations in ridiculously short amounts of times, throwing every traffic law to the wind in the hopes of getting the largest fair possible from the customer.
I got to get some solid hands on time with Tournament of Legends today, and to my surprise, I like what I saw. Tournament of Legends hasn’t exactly had the best advertising campaign behind it. The trailers we’ve seen have, at least in my opinion, made the game look like some mediocre budget title. But in ToL’s case, initial impressions can be deceiving.
